  1. It was the demolish the East Stand bit I meant and opened up for debate as a short-term solution mate.
  2. You may have hit on something there. Demolish the East Stand and build a new 4,000 seater, 2-tiers if land bordering Knowetop Primary is an issue, (with facilities for pre/post match use), and reduce the reliance on the Main Stand. By that I mean, leave the players/corporate facilities but other than to the Director's Box and media suites no one else gets in. That would leave the old girl with an 11,500(ish) capacity, with a longer term desire to replace the main stand with a far smaller structure based on the above criteria and with additional facilities for increased revenue streams. In addition consideration should be given to replacing parts, if not all, of the South Stand roof with a product which would allow natural light to strike that end of the pitch. Where's our online Stadium designers ?????
  3. 5 years perhaps, can't be much more than that. + the sea air will have contributed to the rust.
  4. Probably the most pertinent statement made so far. Many of us 'auldeez' will remember when Fir Park had one of the best pitches in the country ............... before BD was allowed to design his first ever stadium stand. A 3 sided 2-tier'd option is my preference .... see below, while on the 4th side something akin to the pavilion style Norrporten Arena in Sweden with a media suite, executive boxes, the club offices and other income stream facilities either side. A stadium which would attract Under 21 games, Junior cup-ties for example.
  5. and the south end of the pitch would get light from where ? and what about the slope ? and the pitch ? and the fact that engineers have doubted foundations could be driven for a new main stand or east stand re-roofing....mine shafts all over the place in Knowetop apparently. Fir Park is no longer fit for purpose and all the dressing up in the world will not change that. It's 2010 and the future of MFC requires a far better faciliity than FP is or has the potential to be. If our forebearers had shown the same forward thinking as some on here we'd still be at Roman Road FFS
  6. Stevie Woods all over again then
  7. Has my support, provided we don't end up with a St Mirren effort. Plenty of designs around the 10,000 seats here to poach from. Kinda like Molde, Hamar, Alesund stadiums.
  8. A good keeper can have a positive impact on his defence. Obviously the converse also applies. If they come back from this, they deserve great credit. However, I fear Utd are far too good to allow that. We have 4 games left and a European place remains within our grasp. Who would have thought that in July ? C'mon the Well.
  9. Stream is a bit iffy, a bit like out defence ........... perhaps I'll just save the blood pressure and turn it off.
  10. unmarked 7 yards out FFS from a needlessly given corner
  11. Ditto. I have a dog who widdles all over the place, and have experienced a more severe winter than Lanarkshire has yet my grass is bowling green by comparison.
  12. Me too ........... who scored ?
  13. another cheap goal to "Give away" Stream isn't clear enough to blame keeper or pitch. Anyone care to point the finger ?
  14. gut gemacht, dass Frau in Deutschland
  15. No I wasn't at the game mate. I live 200 miles away, not that I'd give the Tims any of my hard earned anyway. As for having a pop at anyone who was at the game ? That certainly was not my motivation or aim. The folks that go week-in week-out have my total respect. Ageism was also not on my agenda. (Please note that much of the vitriol was delivered during and shortly after the match, therefore I'd assume it wasn't from folks who'd been to the game). I waited a couple of days in order that my post was not a reactionary one. I was simply using the young 'Well strip clad lad in Aberdeen as a metaphor for our Eternal Hope attitude, despite many a disappointment, to following the 'Well. Great post by Eddie, probably his best ever imho, portraying a very balanced counter to my original words.
  16. Ditto. I aint been to the Dome or the Bronx since '98 for those very reasons.
  17. No No No lad , it was the ".......... supporting your LOCAL team ... you are what is wrong........ " bit I found to be off the mark. He may have been on holiday, he may have been the product of Well fans who have relocated to the north-east, we know not and I don't frankly care. I was using the lad as a metaphor for Eternal Hope, but you knew that didn't you
  18. Exactly, and should never be criticised. If it's not then so be it, we are all different and have a variety of priorities and life scenarios.
  19. Exactly. As for you Finlay, you feel however you want to feel. As for the wee lad in Aberdeen, I doubt he plucked supporting Motherwell out of thin air do you ? But then you really do appear to be missing the point or are you perhaps dangling a hook ?
  20. Will our weight ever be 6th ? I very much doubt it. Punching Mother'Well above our weight
  21. We should have beaten the Filth at the Bowl and I was still a tad low on Wednesday. However, I was driving along Great Western Road in Aberdeen when I saw a young lad, no more than 5 or 6 years old pushing his scooter along the pavement and fully clad in a complete 'Well strip , (shirt, shorts and socks the lot). He looked proud as punch, his chest stuck out as he said to the world .... I'm a Motherwell fan and proud of it. It brought a big smile to my face, as I thought good on you wee man. You probably aint seen us win a thing and probably may not ...... yet your hope is eternal. And I say to the plethora of negative posters of Tuesday night .... if you want to support a team you expect to win trophies every year then best go support someone else. If you want to support a team who'll guarantee you European football every season then best go support someone else. If you want to support a team who'll guarantee you a Top-6 finish every season then best go support someone else. Motherwell have punched well above their weight for decades, and many of you lot have been spoiled beyond belief, and deserve. Just look at Dundee, Partick and Dunfermline ..... that could so easily be us, but it's not ........... so rejoice in supporting a team who are fighting for 3rd spot in the SPL in a season where many pundits had us relegated, which we started with a handfull of players and a new manager - and who left 1/2 way thru. We are not Barcelona, we are not AC Milan, and never will be. We are Motherwell FC, from a small town less than 20miles from 2 of the biggest football clubs in the world. It's a Rollercoaster Ride, and during the last 20yrs of our 125yr history we've been relatively spoiled, so get on, grip tightly and stop complaining. Hope is eternal.
