  1. And if we spent that money and still didn't get past Sligo, then what? As well as smashing our salary structure and setting up a precedent where any new player would also want £4k a week (not to mention existing players demanding an immediate raise), we'd be stuck with a wage bill that was too big for an entire season and be dependent on qualification again this season in an effort to cope with it. If we played Sligo this weekend, do you think we'd win over two legs? If so, then it's not the personnel that was the problem, it was the coaching.
  2. Looking a at this BBC article, Penney is a left footer that can play full back or wing back.
  3. If anyone should have been revealed on a tractor it's this guy.
  4. If it was easy to bring in strikers every club would have a couple of great strikers.
  5. Long before Andy Cameron. And probably before Chic Murray too, although he certainly made it famous.
  6. We have 8 midfielders on our books already. I hope we're more focused on a left back and/or a KVV backup.
  7. The one thing that's certain is that there is more chance Snodgrass will join our club if we make him an offer than there is if we don't make him an offer.
  8. If he takes an extra week to decide from multiple options and then chooses us you could equally argue that means he is even more committed.
  9. Very true. Although I wouldn't put it past Killie to bring out the industrial fans to dry it out.
  10. Right now that's every team bar Celtic.
  11. Killie have been underwhelming so far this season. Let's keep it that way.
  12. On a slightly different note, I'd love to see the punishment for stopping a breakaway with a cynical foul changed to be an automatic red.
  13. When they moved to summer footy in Irelamd the attemdances didn't increase. It also causes issues like where (or how) to train when pre-season is in the winter. And there would be no chance we could have done all the pitch renovations over the last few years in the winter rather than the summer. Even the stadium updates would have been difficult. The best way to avoid winter games is a shorter season. A league of 14 or 16 playing each other twice would let you have a winter shutdown and a summer break, but the clubs and most if the fans are against that due to potential loss of income.
  14. Before the game I was worried about Sol, but along with the rest of the defence, didn't give Livi a sniff of a goal. Considering how they tend to thrive off route one, brute force and second balls that was the most pleasing aspect for me.
  15. I agree. He did a lot of donkey work up front and worked well in Robinson's set up. He's just not a natural goal-scorer and in his later days with us he had obviously lost some confidence in his shooting and tended to drift out of scoring positions rather than gambling to get in them. His best ever season is 8 league goals at Doncaster, but he can be a good man to play off.
  16. The rebuild juggernaut moves on. Take your pick...
  17. Usual lack of entertainment from a Livi game. Just a slightly different variant of non-entertainment. Good 3 points against a tough opponent and nice to keep our "haven't lost to them at Fir Park in 20 years" intact. I still do a double take every time I see Kelly play a short pass out from the box.
  18. Lawrence Shankland better start looking over his shoulder. Curtis Main on the scoresheet for St Mirren.
  19. Wee Al scores the opener for Luton.
  20. PPV for UK fans was a special arrangement during lockdown. It's usually against League and the broadcasters' rules. Now lockdown has gone, so has PPV.
  21. I still think he's potentially a great goal scorer but his Premiership record is no better tham KVV.
  22. I like listening to Hammell because he talks like a coach - which is obvious, of course, given he's spent the last few years coaching. Will be interesting to see if after a couple of seasons of having his words twisted by the media and attacks on social media he will revert to the usual manager-speak.
  23. Shankland was certainly a goal-machine in the lower leagues. He hasn't quite proved it yet in the Premiership and I'm still on the fence on if he's going the be Higdon-esque or Bob Malcolm-esque, but his current team are probably a good fit for him to find his form.
