A player weighing up his options and choosing us doesn't sound that bad to me.

Found his level...

Hearts is away - which they managed to get right in the original fixtures announcement on the website (I think)

"We've no got any money" has been our transfer strategy for many years. And every season we end up bringing in about a dozen or more new players in the summer and winter windows.
-
Would be great, but newly promoted teams do have a habit of gutting the squads that got them there and spending their EPL riches on expensive replacements.
-
Does the CEO sign players now? No wonder we're struggling to replace him.
-
They've been using that for American Football over here too. ESPN I think for their Monday Night Game.

This is what we're competing against with players like Johnston For all this talk about "protecting our investment" you know his agent was telling him "just wait and I'll guarantee you a big move"

According to MotherwellNET:

1) these days Marinello would have gone to the Sporting Chance Clinic, cleaned up his act and stayed with Arsenal (still one of my favourite ever 'Well players, though)

If you take a look at the starting line ups of most teams this weekend and then look at them again in September, they will be barely recognisable. That's what makes the League Cup games (and early Euro games for the chosen few) such a lottery. Far from ideal, but that's what we're stuck with these days.

Does watching Irish, Mexican, Gold Cup and Guatemalan games count as detoxing?

The long season was largely due to the enforced break for the world cup. Should be more of a break next summer. Like joewarkfanclub, however, as I get older I am less affected by poor results. I'm sure that's also due to distance and early kickoffs for me. I'm totally immersed for the duration of the game and desperately want a win every time, but by lunchtime I'm over bad one.

The article says "they don't let their young talent out on loan until they have signed new deals and they protect their football club, their investment and time spent with them." but it doesn't say how you make young players sign new deals. That's where it gets difficult in Scotland, because we can't offer anything close to what's available in England or elsewhere, and the players (and their agents) know that.

I'm also available for a Zoom chat

Was he ever officially appointed? I'd have thought there would have been a formal announcement rather than just the stories I read in the newspapers. I'm certainly not worried about it. Our business model and financials aren't exactly a secret. EDIT: actually, looking at this story, it seems that McGhee was given a better counter-offer by Blackpool and after depature of their CEO has assumed "a broader role as head of finance and operations."

They had the ICC World Cup qualifiers on here (spoiler alert, Scotland were glorious failures after beating the West Indies and Zimbabwe), but they started at 2:30am every day.

They know where I am, they just need to pick up the phone.

What does a CEO do that the current board isn't capable of doing? If we want to run using a CEO model then obviously it's good to have that role filled, but I've worked for various companies over the years that spent months looking for the right CEO and operated just fine with board members stepping in. The biggest challenge is that running a football club like ours is very different from running a traditional business (e.g. no shareholder dividend targets to meet, can't expand market share, we're stuck with "football team" being our main product etc. etc). That's why many business people fail when they enter the football arena and why many clubs don't operate using a CEO model. Having someone like Andrew Wilson on the board should keep things ticking over nicely as listening to SK's comment it sounds like he is doing a lot of acting CEO work behind the scenes (and is very well qualified for that kind of work).

Never like losing our good youngsters, but I'd rather see them move to the continent to develop than moving to League One in England.

I must be going senile. I knew it had been originally retired, but for some reason I thought we had reinstated it later. Must have been wishful thinking, as I'm not a fan of jersey retirements. (Shows how much attention I pay to the shirt numbers)

I've been passing the time watching One Pocket Pool on the Billiards Channel. (Not a euphemism)

I'd be surprised if we don't have one more striker in by the end of August. And be interested to see if they take the number 10 shirt or if we are planning to sign a 'proper' number 10.

There was the Paddy Power one and then there was another one that early buyers received with no sponsor when there was a delay in their announcement.
