  1. Clubs just don't "stump up". You see that at every level where they often go through multiple rounds of negotations with club and then player's management. We just don't notice it as much when it's not our player. Even when a bid hasn't been accepted yet, managers and agents will be in discussions with potential suitors so the personal terms will be ready to sign. Also don't forget, that most countries don't have the insanity of a league cup at the start of pre-season, and so conduct business a little bit later. And finally, of course, MIller gets the final say on where he goes, so even if we accept a bid from a club, it doesn't mean they will get him. Given his history of making good career choices so far, I'd be surprised if his next step isn't also ideal for him.

Let he who has never Pushed on a door marked Pull, cast the first stone. (Not me, obviously. I would never do that)
  3. There's an article in The Scotsman today about the cheapest adult tickets at each of the Premiership grounds. Hearts are £24 Then a few teams including us are £25 £26 to watch Livi £26 to watch Hibs Killie £28 online, £30 at the ground St Mirren £28 Dundee £30 then Rangers £35 and Celtic £36 So, no, not true if those figures are accurate.

Yes, I think the Beer Garden sign is from last season, and the official opening will see it renamed.

Closed for the Rangers game, I see.
  6. The endless stories based on guesses and empty speculation are certainly boring, but that's standard for transfer windows where the media needs to report on "breaking news" 24 x 7. In reality, there isn't really anything unusual happening - it just so happens it's one of our players involved.

I'm sure I read that they plan to weather proof it at some point to make it more usable year-round.
  8. Our CEO was talking about that a few months ago. It's crazy that there hasn't been an update to the fee structure.
  9. But do you trust him to put his foot on the ball and pass to a team mate? He's been a bit hit or miss in that department so far this season (e.g. his underhit pass that led to the pen against Hertha), but hopfeully that will improve.
  10. I'm not sure Gordon is equipped to play out from the back, but I'm OK with him if he can.
  11. I really hope so. We have been crying out for decent central defenders since Hartley & Aldred left us.
  12. You put 2 in the fridge for an hour before the adding them to the bag just before the draw. The other balls are room temp. As others have said, however, when the draw is on the radio only, you don't need to be that clever. You just read out whatever you like.
  13. There is. But they have made the disparity between the haves and have-nots so great in other ways, they don't need to worry about cup draws.
  14. Same question though is how do you do that? Talented players and their agents are aware of the interest months (or years) in advance, and just refuse contract extensions because they don't want to risk a transfer fee getting in the way of a move. Miller's plan was more first team games, so it made sense for him to extend when he did. Johnston's plan was to leave as soon as he could, so did not make sense for him or his career plans.
  15. Not sure what else we could have done with Johnston. He rejected our offers because he wanted to leave.
  16. He's in his last year of his contract, so would walk for a much smaller UEFA development fee next summer.
  17. Another year with us would be OK for Miller, but terrible for our finances.
  18. It sounds like one of those rumours that is either 100% accurate, but everyone involved is keeping quiet, or a complete fabrication that the media has decided to run with.
  19. It started when Airdrie papped us out in Scottish Cup semi replay in 1975 and I got hooked on painful glory hunting defeats.
  20. That's true. There are a number of "transient" fans who might come along when we are playing well, or in late stages of cups, that aren't interested in the weekly grind during a bad spell. Those are the ones that need to be persuaded to attend more often. If we could add another 500 to the gate every week, even that relatively small amount would generate a decent amount of additional revenue across a season.
  21. TBF, that's in part because many are like me and live too far away to attend most games. When we were gubbed in the CIS Cup final, I made a 6000 mile round trip for that glory.
  22. JBA mentioned in one of his interviews that defending the long ball is something we are training for, but need to improve.

All the details were on the Society's web page (although it wouldn't hurt to have a sign) https://thewellsociety.uk/2025/07/24/grab-a-friday-night-brew-in-the-new-well-society-fan-zone-before-hertha/
