I don't have any problems with the Danzaki signing. It was a creative idea that didn't work out, but in our position we need to try a few new ideas from time to time. He was playing the A-League before we signed him and has made quite a few appearances in the A-League after he was punted. So not a complete no-hoper like a few others mentioned above.

Even if it's not SK's preference, he's not going to change it while we're winning games.
-
If Rangers are playing at the same level as they are against Hibs today we must have a good chance of a result in the semi.

Tanser's wasn't reviewed because VAR doesn't review 2nd yellows. They got Miller's wrong from the angles I saw, but that's not unusual for VAR. If they are more likely to support the refs' initial calls this season then more power to them - I'm certainly not complaining we got away with one.

Ox should be getting free drinks for life from both Gordon and Casey.
-
Miller's goal was handball and Tanser should never have been sent off for that tackle. However, given the number of terrible decisions against us last season for similar situations, I'm more than happy to take it - and after St Mirren missed their pen I thought we looked the more likely to score.
-
It is, so far, but I have some sympathy with him as I always felt we pushed him out the door when the silly money offer came in. At that point I don't think he was making noises about wanting to leave.

Dan Casey. The attitude of Ally Mauchlen. The defensive skills of Derek Murray. Now take your pick...

Normal Miller service is resumed.

I'm no professional football coach, but maybe SK thinks this formation will be more effective against the way St Mirren line up.

If David Martindale criticised someone for supplying cocaine, you might say he was a hypocrite, but more likely to say he had learned his lesson and realised what a bad idea it was.

That could well be true. My only concern is that his main trick is cutting inside. On one hand, that was Jake Hastie's main trick too and teams found a way to prevent that after a few successful outings. On the other hand, Jamie Murphy made a successful career of coming inside from the wing. So I'm hoping he continues down the Murphy path.

It seems to take being charged with importing 60kg of cannabis from Bangkok for a club to take strong action against a player.

Just as I like to give players that start slow time to develop, I also like to give time to players who make a quick impact - because the real test for them is how the cope when the opposition managers suss them out (like Goodwin's tactics against Maswanhise). So while I like what I've seen so far, I'd like to see a little more.
-
Need some hard data on that - although if any St Mirren player scores there's a good chance they are ex-Well! Polworth, Donnelly and Spittal all failed to score against us this season. I think Moult is the only ex-player so far, and we still won that game. Although, tbf, if an opponent scores it's not a huge stretch to think it will be a striker or the penalty taker regardless of who they used to play for.

Just don't play the "to be brutally honest" drinking game.

I think it's the other way round. Clubs like ourselves and Utd took advantage of the regulation to ditch it. We could still have used it if we wanted to, but who wants to? I assume the regulation is there so that lower-league clubs aren't required to implement VAR for a one-off cup tie when they don't have the budget or infrastructure to support it.
-
We did, but were only able to do that because the game wasn't picked as a "proper" Premier Sports live broadcast and the competition rules state VAR is then optional. For the 2 games that were broadcast live, the rule is VAR must be used if technically possible.
-
The best thing about the camera set-up was it meant we didn't have to use VAR.
-
I think there is some extra cost to Premier Sports, because the club doesn't provide their own feed, just the commentary. I believe the video stream we watch is normally provided by the broadcasting company - typically the BBC, but I presume in this case, Premier Sports in some form or other.
-
I admire your optimism that we won't crock a couple of starters in training this week.

The problem is that's is a relatively small sample size and could just be bad luck. It feels, however, like we've been having these issues under successive coaching regimes, so a more detailed review of the methods is definitely needed. Of course, the fact that one of our strategies has been to sign players recovering-from or prone-to injury and with "something to prove" may have exacerbated the problems.

I've read rumours over the years that Turnbull had offers from Europe. I always thought his game was better suited to the continent. Of course, the rumours might not have been true, but Cardiff still seemed a strange option for his next move. I see he did get a 3 year contract there, so maybe that played a part.

Motherwell v Rangers League Cup Semi final Nov 2/3
weeyin replied to TheoBair14's topic in Club Chat
The difference with the Albion Rovers game is that it was a minor blip on the way to finishing 2nd in the league that season
