To be fair, any striker that plays against us is likely to score. That aspect of players joining rival clubs has never bothered me. I agree he put in some great work for us last season, but I think it was a good time for all parties for him to move on.
-
I agree he can do a job. I just don't think that job is goalscorer. Still - in the grand scheme of things - he's another example we can point to regarding progressing a career by coming to play for us.

Main's agent must have sent them a video of the cup semi on an endless loop.
-
Not only that but we have our own youngsters that we likely want to develop in the holding role.

In the past 10 years or so, Aberdeen have had good value from their MFC Scouting subscription.

His career stalled after his fall out with Steve McLaren (plus the injuries, of course). Still one of the more sucessful 'Well players, though. Just wish we had a sell-on clause when he was signing some of those big transfer deals.

Depends if the discussion is actually about supporting the victims, or just taking pot shots at Celtic. Most of the social media posts are just people points scoring against Celtic rather than any real concern for the victims.

The Herald has been running a series of articles on the top 10 young Scottish players. There are some great stats in there, and Turnbull has been ranked number one. A few highlights: - He has scored twice as many goals as he reasonably ought to have, based on the quality of the chances presented to him. - He's scored the most goals in the league from outside the box - He is the most accurate player in the Premiership, with more than half of his shots hitting the target Full article is available here.

It really is as simple as saying "No" this summer. We managed to get a chunk of change for Moult when he had 6 months left on his deal and eligible to sign a pre-contract. The mentality that we need to cash in on him now in case he's worth less in year, should be a thing of the past. We're a fan owned club now, and plan to break even every year. If we have Turnbull for another season and sell him for even £2 million next summer I think most (if not all) fans would be delighted to watch him in claret and amber for another campaign. If he continues to develop at his current rate, we'll do better from the add-ons anyway. He's on record as saying he's is more than happy to stay. We are in a position where we are in no rush to sell. I'll be delighted if we are having this discussion again next summer.

Aye, he sounds more like an Ariyibi type player - winger who loves to dribble and "needs work" in the shooting department. (I saw an interesting stat in The Scotsman today that Ariyibi attempted more dribbles per game than any other player in the Premiership last season).
-
MK Dons webpage described him as: "Powell is a forward thinking player who loves to run at full-backs and is a strong asset for the Dons down the flanks. His unpredictable nature is often an asset and at times a flaw in his character but remains an important player for the Dons. "

If anyone managed to navigate BetPark's website (using google translate from Indonesian -> English) and found a way to spend any money it, I salute them. I clicked on the link again today (from the MFC home page) and it still looks like a mess in any language. I swear it's just a money laundering outfit!

Unless we extend his contract (like we did with Kipré) - with the appropriate buy-out clauses.
-
Even if we were offered £3 million - if Turnbull is happy to be at Fir Park next season, I'd be tempted to sit tight. Our finances are sound, and I can't see his value decreasing by next summer. (And by then, Semple might be ready to step in).
-
They can definitely afford him - they are rolling in cash, relatively speaking. I doubt they will want to pay our asking price, though.
-
He didn't say that. His quote (according to The Scotsman) was:
-
£10 million, addons + Lewis Morgan and I might pick up the phone.
-
If you're this side of the pond that Del Potro shirt is available for $80 from nike.com (Should probably have posted that in the All Things Claret and Amber thread)
-
Clarke already said he will consider anyone who wants to come out of retirement - but they will need to contact him; he's not chasing them. While I'd be delighted if Turnbull gets international recognition, I'd prefer it to happen after the summer. Don't want to have to manage his appearances next season because we tired him out in a couple of games in what appears to be a lost cause campaign.

The only surprise is Blackpool can sign players. I thought they were in financial meltdown and receivership.

Always the bridie, never the bride.

Glad it's not just me. (And let's not forget Humphrey)

Did he not have the highest number of assists in the team before he was injured? He certainly offers more of a goal threat than Main did. I'm not sure what other people are building him up to be, but for a long time he was the only guy in the team that had a bit of football in him. If his head is in the right place, he should do just fine.

The friendlies might be meaningless in terms of consequence, but they let the coaching staff try a few things out and not have to worry about short term results in the middle of pre-season. The big challenge for all the teams is having to ease back on some of the high-intensity or endurance work for a couple of days during the build up to each tie, which interrupts the fitness schedule. Or, alternatively, don't change a thing and then tire the players out the day before and leave them with 60 minutes in their legs. And as fans, we have to endure the numerous posts about how poor we look, how unfit player X is, how the new signings are all a waste of money etc. etc. From Dunne to Gorrin, it happens every July.
