  1. We have enough to play 4 at the back and a libero if we need to.
  2. Campbell's going to be the biggest miss I suspect. It's the midfield battle that will decide this, I think.
  3. Extending his contract when we did was also good business.
  4. So you want us to buy Championship level players and pay them Championship level wages? We can't even afford development fees to sign players from the Scottish lower leagues.
  5. Like for Like for Kipré would mean bringing in an out of work player who has never made a first team start.
  6. Pretty sure Dunne will be the same size after he recovers and Hartley is still the same size now. And while I'm a fan of both Dunne and Kipre - ball retention is not their forté. If we want to find another big central defender, I'm sure there will be a few available down south.
  7. You only need to go back as recently as this time last season, when folks were telling us how raw and naive Cedric was and how useless Dunne was, to see why the argument that new signings are "not a step up in quality" is pointless. We need to give ATS, Donnelly (and McGuire ) time to get up to speed and settle in. I guarantee that everyone who complained about Dunne last August is gutted he is not playing this August.
  8. I liked Vigurs - but pace and tackling were never his strength.
  9. Would be awful if we have to revert to skill, timing and reading the game. Although I doubt Hartley will be changing any time soon.
  10. To paraphrase Mitch Hedberg - isn't everything on Twitter pre-typed?
  11. To be fair, since Les took over and we revamped our business model, I don't think we have undervalued our players. We've been getting good money for guys like Heneghan, Moult (with 6 months left on his contract) etc. and knocking back bids for guys like Carson if our valuation isn't met.
  12. I remember seeing a youtube video of some of Humphrey's goals, and the noticing the large number of times Vigurs played a big part in them.
  13. Then moaned about how footballers shouldn't be made redundant because they are special - unlike the rest of us mere mortals who work for a living.
  14. We brought in more defenders because we knew (presumably) Kipré was likely to move on in a window or two. It's unfortunate Dunne is injured, but we have Tait, Taylor-Sinclair, Donnelly, Hartley, McGuire and McHugh to choose from. I'll be sorry to see Kipré leave, but there's no denying it's a cracking piece of business for many reasons. First of all, for our business model, it's much needed cash in the bank/loan pay-off. Secondly, we can use it as an example to other players want to sign - "Look at Cédric - wasn't even playing when we signed, and within a year he had 2 Cup Finals, international recognition and move to the Championship" Thirdly - he's young. While I agree he looks like he has the potential to be great, he wouldn't be the first promising youngster that drifted into obscurity by the time they reach 23 or 24.
  15. They were signed to give us some depth, not as improvements on Dunne, Kipré, Harltey etc. Were you one of the posters moaning about Dunne this time last season?
  16. I'm assuming we signed Donnelly and Taylor-Sinclair in the knowledge we'd be losing Dunne or Kipre this window. We also have McGuire - although not this weekend. Add McHugh into the mix, and we still have numbers. Maybe worth looking at a 6 month loan, I guess, if we can find a speed merchant.
  17. Cache issues are one of the banes of my professional life. Chrome is the worst offender. Mobile browsers can make it more difficult as they will often cache sites in order to improve performance and save bandwidth.
  18. We definitely need to be selling someone this window or next. Like you say, Gillespie sounded looked like a first team kind of player when he signed, so we must be thinking Carson is away soon,
  19. Plus add-ons, I hope. Au revoir!
  20. I see the news about Bowman's injury. Then below that, Robinson's youtube interview from earlier today.
  21. Was reading an article this morning aabout Jack Ross rebuilding Sunderland by punting his high earners and picking up Scottish players as cheaper options. He's taken Jon McLaughlin from Hearts, Dylan McGeough from Hibs and Chris McGuire from Bury. So, when I was thinking of a random English team we'd sell him to, Sunderland popped into my head.
  22. The "where's Cadden going to play?" question is easy. Sunderland.
  23. Aye, let's not underestimate the benefit of the updated scouting structure that Les had put in place as one of the requirements of his loan.
  24. Lots of variables to address for this one. Back 3 or Back 4? If McHugh is fit will he be played in midfield or defence? Will Hartley be risked now he has had another week's training under his belt? Is Donnelly ready to step in? Is Cadden going to be fit? If Bowman is fit, does he start with Sammon? Who's marking McGinn? etc. etc.
