  1. I put it in the SPFL thread yesterday, but looks like it's just me an Underboyleheating that read that You have to a wee bit careful with this report as it uses averages which can be massively skewed by one or two outliers at the top or bottom, and the fact that a lot of the info being used isn't from the clubs themselves, but it still gives a great high-level overview of the massive disparity in budgets. And according to the other figures in that thread, the team we beat on Saturday pays out £7.8 million in wages.
  2. Aye, I don't think Stewart has anything to do with the highlights package. Much more likely a producer gave him the clip and told him to talk about it for 2 minutes.
  3. Although they are now in the big time in League 2, Forest Green Rovers were my non-league wee team when I lived in Stroud.
  4. From what I've seen watching the BBC's (excellent) coverage of the preliminary FA Cup rounds, there seems to be a rapid reduction in quality between the teams and players at the top of the National League and those below them. Not surprising really given the makeup of some of those teams. I saw one that had about half a dozen loanees from the EFL Championship and there have been a couple in recent times with some serious bankroll behind them (like Salford) who are trying to buy their way into League 2 and beyond. I certainly enjoyed watching the FA Cup coverage where there were sometimes teams from the 9th tier matched up against the 5th and 6th tiers.
  5. I think so. Johnson and Main did will to keep pressing the defence and when the ball broke to Turnbull he had found a good position and hit a good shot.
  6. "“We looked for a response but the subs never offered much to change the game and the third goal came from a ricochet but it was no less than Motherwell deserved and we have a lot of work to do ahead of the cup final."
  7. TBF, there are posters on here who don't think any current Motherwell players should be in our team.
  8. Main was excellent yesterday - he's just not a natural goal scorer. Pairing him with Johnson worked out well.
  9. I think Robinson made a good point in one of his post-match interviews when he said that players we sign are either youngsters, lower league or guys that can't get a starting place in their team. That inveitably means that it's going to take some time in training to get them up to speed and, ultimately, find out if they're good enough. It wasn't that long ago that some people on here were moaning about how Grimshaw was a waste of a jersey - and he'd already proved in a previous season how good he could be with a bit of game time.
  10. TBF, the East Stand punters go apoplectic if an auld yin accidentally spills his Bovril.
  11. I saw Moult scored the 3rd and had an assist in PNE's 4th today.
  12. Killing the game would make nice change from going 3-3-4 in the last 20 mins.
  13. Decent first half performance. Postive outlook from the start, and a couple of breaks of the ball. Johnson again showing what he can do given the chance. He's the only natural goal scorer amongst our strikers. Keeper looks solid, but that's not surprising given he has over 200 first team games under his belt.
  14. Get in. Quick thinking from Bigi at the free kick that lead to the corner for that one.
  15. I'm glad I have a video stream. If you only have audio, all you must be getting is the commentary on the referee.
  16. At least we've made a few changes. We'll soon find out if it makes a difference.
  17. I'm saying that our scouting network bases their recommendations on more than one performance for a Colt's team after a few week's out from injury. Sorry if that was too subtle a dig for you. (And the whole negate the preceding sentence with a "Not" at the end died out with teenage girls in the 90s.)
  18. We signed him because he's useless. I'm amazed you can't see that. We have staff members whose job it is to identify new players - and then ignore them, and sign players that will decrease the overall quality of the team. Either that, or people who work in the game for a living know more about the game and have an insight that randoms on the internet sometimes lack. You should send them your scouting reports.
  19. I'm sure that's part of it too. My original point was that all the talk of changing managers before January so we can let the new man make deals in the window is wide of the mark. Teams don't let their good players leave for free in January and having a new manager wouldn't change that. The core we have now is going to have to dig us out of this mess.
  20. And I'd say again that it was Lewis Morgan that made the difference rather than other other signings - as has been proved by their form this season. If he hadn't gone back on loan the second half of last season I doubt they would have been promoted.
  21. After we conceded the early goal at Pittodrie we played OK (55% possession too) and were unlucky not to get an equalizing penalty. So while I'm not overly optimistic, I certainly don't have the fear for this one.
  22. Jack Ross had Lewis Morgan - and as recent events have proved - they were a one man team completely dependent on him. I think I'd rather have our squad than the St Mirren squad, thanks.
