  1. Classic steelboy, slagging off a new player on his 2nd start a couple of days after he travelled half way around the globe. Reminds me of when he was slagging of Higdon for being fat and useless. Robinson, on the other hand, has less of an excuse. And none of that excuses the debacle that was our defence at the goal.
  2. Video, but not commentary today. Not too disappointed with that. Bought a ciabatta loaf when I was out this morning, so settling down to watch the game with a mug of coffee and a bacon ciabutty.
  3. For all the issues I have with VAR and despite the fact the I want it punted, and despite the problems I have with the ridiculous handball rules, I still think the Casey call was correct.
  4. The real question is which ex-Well player will they sign to replace him.
  5. I'd hope it's not beyond the capabilities of the Society to pull a list of the names of members who have contributed financially over the past few years.
  6. If that was true, then resting tired players during a 2 week international break might help. However, it doesn't take a Beautiful Mind to see the pattern of how many players we've injured during international breaks, winter breaks and pre-season these past few years to see it's an issue. Also, playing 8 games over 13 weeks at the start of season should be quite manageable even for a 34 year old. However, if players like McGinn and Miller are at risk, then we should be rotating them sooner, not crocking them in training sessions.
  7. No doubt we'll be conducting our 718th detailed review into why we injure so many of our players during an international break.
  8. We certainly had the worst defence in the league, but I'd say the comedy defending antics of Butcher, Blaney, Casey and Mugabi (to name a few) were more responsible for that. Difficult to compare when we were giving up free shots and headers half a dozen times per game. Likewise when Gordon passed the ball to St Mirren and SOD gave away the ball against Hibs, Ox conceded 2 goals. I wouldn't blame him for conceding either one, but that's what Kelly was up against for an entire season. It has a knock-on effect. Defenders are poor, the keeper loses confidence and makes mistakes. The keeper makes mistakes and the defenders lose even more confidence - and so it goes on. That's why I was a proponent of ditching all the central defenders and the keeper in the summer and rebuilding from scratch.
  9. The "need to run about more" and "doesn't track back" mentality is the kind of attitude that stifles creative footballers in the Scottish game. Not every player needs to be a hard tackling box-to-box grafter. It's all about getting balance in the team.
  10. I didn't say I was watching it! Waiting for the Antigua vs Dominican Republic to kick off. Been enjoying watching the Concacaf Nations League games this week.
  11. Croatia v Scotland game's live on telly here. Go, as they love to say in these parts, figure.
  12. Preparing them for the step up to the senior squad.
  13. I remember the same chunk wanting Dan Twardzik signed up after his initial performances too. As I said, I'm happy we extended his contract. It's more the absolutism of fans I take issue with where someone is absolute garbage or brilliant, without much room for nuance such as quality of players around them, overall form of the team and the fluctuations in performance that every player suffers. I'd imagine any keeper would have struggled behind the joke of a defence we had last season.
  14. Just a reminder that the keeper everyone was delighted to punt in the summer had a great initial loan spell, won players' player of the year, and we couldn't get him back soon enough. I'm happy Ox has signed, but I'm under no illusions that somehow he'll be immune from a loss of form.
  15. I'm just waiting for the "Well player in freak accident while boarding plane" headlines.
  16. Apart from a few posts on here, an official club announcement, the Well Society newsletter, articles in the newspapers, SK's presser just after it was announced and SK's post-match just after it was announced, they kept it pretty quiet
  17. If you really want to know, I've found the club pretty responsive any time I emailed them a question. Or maybe contact someone from the Well Society.
  18. I see they won, but also see Stama didn't get any minutes.
  19. He mentioned in his interview last week that international recognition was one of the attractions of our club - that certainly didn't take long to pan out!
  20. Just let us know when you've started.
  21. Miller's contracted until summer 2026, so I'm not sure how much further either party would be willing to extend. We have the luxury of ignoring all bids in January and opening a bidding war next summer when he still has a year left.
  22. For me Casey still has more defensive lapses than the rest of the back line. I appreciate his attitude and the problems he can cause in the opponent's box at set pieces, but I wouldn't be averse to trying out other options there.
  23. Aye, still early days, but always better to be 4th than 11th at any stage of the season.
  24. International break after 3 wins on the bounce and 6 wins from 7. I feel like it's going to be quiet in here until the Dundee game.
