McGhee has done exactly the right thing. I don't care what the valuations thrown around are, but talking up a player does no harm. Talking down a player, like we have been doing for years, never has a positive effect on their transfer fee (if we even mange to move them on). In poker terms, it's +EV to big up a player.

You're certainly about as funny as the taxi drivers I've suffered through.

As a selling club, it's trend we need to encourage and embrace. If we're not selling on a decent a player every year, then we're not following our financial plan.

The fact that he made over 170 appearances for us and was part of one of our most successful teams ever suggests he was at least adequate. I think some people took against him because of his faither.

I'm not sure the core fan base has the right to much of a say. In an ideal world, obviously, you don't want to sell to a developer that is going to strip your assets and destroy the club. In this case, however, there has only ever been one option. Unless a sympathetic benefactor suddenly crawls out the woodwork, we don't have many alternatives. I would like there to be a consultation with Society members, but I doubt we can have that much influence over the final details. The ball is in Les' court and while I don't think he has any intention to harm the club in any way, he literally owns us. The point about crowds reducing and income revenues constrained is another argument in favour of Society ownership and our new approach to budgeting. As much as people like to complain (myself included) about the Society, it has provided essential loans to the club on multiple occasions since it was founded.

I know what you mean, and it is frustrating, but their hands are tied in this case and it's probably better not to be breaking the law.

Not saying it was the case here, but the rest versus surgery approach seems to quite a popular option in US sports these days. Probably because even the most successful surgery can still result in slightly reduced performance. Can't wait to see him back in the team, though. Our lack of goals has made our lives difficult.

Only scoring 1 goal again has killed us. You don't win SPFL games when you only score one. People always go on about midfield and keepers etc. but always seem to give the strikers a free pass. Need to be much more clinical.
