  1. What specific activities do you think 'Flow's involvement has caused to nosedive since he took over as GM?
  2. Difficult to be 100% certain of course, but is seems like his injury problems finally caught up. I think we were lucky/smart enough to get the best from him - and another good piece of business at the end of the day.
  3. He didn't do badly compared to John Gardiner, but he was pretty poor stuff.
  4. A game in October 2013 has nothing to do with the point I was making given I was talking about his later run in the team in Mar/Apr 2014.
  5. I'm not saying he started off well, but I'd be interested to hear opinions on what he did wrong in his last spell in the first team.

    Henri Anier

Paying off our debts so we could survive was probably a smart investment. I liked Anier, but don't rate him as highly as Ojamaa. He played well in a team that was playing well, but he'd probably be struggling as much as the rest of our mob right now. 11 goals in 4 years (9 of them with us) means the jury is still out for me on whether he is a genuine striker or not, but certainly put decent shifts in when he was fit. Good bit of business on our part to move him on for a tidy sum.
  7. So was Gunnar on many occasions, but his haters blamed that on him too and said it was his job to organize them and give them confidence.
  8. I imagined he'd be holed up in Bothwell in the new owner's holiday home.
  9. Ojamaa and Anier were 2 great pieces business and exactly the kind of deals we should be looking to in the future. If I got to choose, I'd stick with Ojamaa for the remainder of the season, but I realise that may not be an option.
  10. With our limited resources, we are more likely to wait on Moore getting back to fitness - which doesn't sound too far away now.
  11. I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought Nielsen did OK in his last run in the first team. Was a little surprised Hollis was given the nod when he was back fit. As for the game itself, 2 - 1 to us with a late winner.
  12. Not even close. John Gardiner and Howard Samaroff are easily worse than any of those three.
  13. The bottom line is that the General Manager is typically responsible for implementing the will of the Board. If there are problems at the club (and we can all see there are), then it's the Board's responsibility to identify the strategy to address them, not 'Flow's. I had my doubts about 'Flow's qualifications for the job, but the issues on the park are not related to that and neither are the financial issues that pre-date his promotion.
  14. Would still need someone to score goals - Anier has only managed 11 total in the last 4 seasons combined.
  15. Just check back on a few of the threads on here. There were many posts ranging from "I'll come and watch every week even if it's the U16 team we have to field" to "I'll happily contribute extra if it means justice is done". Wasn't there even a donations link on the Official MFC page due to demand?
  16. The Board (and Boyle) had complete oversight to budget and, in general, the way the club was run. Our current position was a collective effort.

    Injuries

I think we have just been hit by statistical probability. The last couple of seasons we fared better than average with injuries, this season worse than average. We just suffer more because of the small squad numbers. Although it's probably true that when the team is struggling, players are less likely to be motivated to play through the niggles.
  18. I don't know what planet you normally watch football on, but if any manager takes over a struggling team (with 5 or 6 injured players) and no chance yet to bring in new faces, it's unlikely there is an immediate turnaround. If he continues to win 50% of his games in charge, we'll stay up.
  19. 2 transfer window minimum before judging a new manager.
  20. We did try the sand-only pitch for a couple of seasons, but that disappointed.
  21. That's because he's not as bad as some would have you believe.
  22. Also a different sport, but there a number of American Football clubs over the years who switched to astroturf and switched back to grass pretty quickly because of the extra injuries it was causing - mostly due to players' feet 'sticking' when they turned sharply and causing ankle and knee problems.
  23. I'm not against any moves the new boss makes. Just saying that half the match threads are filled with moans about Josh Law being lower league mince and Vigurs/Ainsworth/ZFA/Whoever never tracking back and therefore being "a waste of a wage".
  24. A non-league player that doesn't track back. That might be just enough to push some of the posters on here over the edge.
  25. That's why Scottish (and most British) footballers struggle to compete at the top level against players who train like athletes. It's also why guys like John Collins and, more recently, Felix Magath face rebellions any time they try to impose healthy training regimes. There are exceptions, but they are rare.
