  1. Just watched the highlights and the conditions were awful. A draw probably would have been a fair result, but it was a terrible goal to lose. Speculative high ball, weak headed clearance and Ainsworth ball watching on the wrong side of his man.
  2. That's kind of my point. I'd much rather have a Davie Cooper, Bobby Russell (or Vigurs) that never makes a tackle than another guy "with a good engine". I thought Vigurs was just fine with us and would have been happy to see him stay. I'm in the "build team teams around your creative players" camp and don't care if they never put in a tackle.
  3. So you want a box-to-box, hard working, defensive, creative midfielder? I'd settle just for creative right now, but they're in demand too.
  4. Sounds like we need to work on playing the full game and, even more importantly, finishing out the game in the opponents' half of the park. Basic stuff.
  5. He wasn't - he was about 3rd choice behind better players.
  6. Makes it even more likely we didn't have to pay off his full contract.
  7. Or a big defender via a German contact.
  8. First time I watched I thought if there was any infringement it was that the Dundee player kicked Cadden's foot, not the other way around. Never a pen, but too late now.
  9. Before the window, McGhee said he'd be happy if he had to stick with what he had. Of course, part of that is just PR speak, but we're not in terrible shape right now and if add McFadden to the mix as a striking option I doubt there is much to panic about.
  10. The ones on loan will be less salary we have to pay. As for the others, no doubt they will get a pay off, but I would guess less than full wage. Plus the overheads of bonuses, inusrance etc. will be cut along with them. If it didn't save money there would be no point in moving them on.
  11. If Mackin is on a "development loan" does that mean we can recall him in an emergency or do the regular loan rules apply?
  12. Aye, a long overdue clear out. Our wage bill was far too big for a club our size.
  13. Not unless it was Dempster who recently tweeted the wrong time for this window to close. I didn't, however, expect anyone to take what I posted seriously. I actually hate the window and think it's only 2nd to the Bosman in messing up our game (maybe 2nd equal with all seated grounds). Idiotic rules and fake excitement.
  14. Unless he has another club lined up. Then he could take a less than full pay-off from us and pick up another wage at the same time. Mutual Consent, will mean there has been some kind of pay-off though.
  15. Or he's just showing off that he might not know when the window closes, but he has learned the rule about English loan spells.
  16. Although they would get full points for 'Vexatious' in the Countdown Conundrum round - so that would even out.
  17. Which is a plus, because then we can't resort to the "hoofing it up the park" strategy.
  18. Not many prospects are made available in January. McGhee said we were short on experience and that is what he'd be looking to secure this window. As for selling - nothing yet, but we have made a dent in the wage bill.
  19. Not only was he going to the MLS, but I heard from a reasonably reliable source that if the move happened, he was intending to up sticks and move the family there too.
  20. There is a Hearts v Motherwell game on youtube where there are so many ex-payers on either side it looks like the teams just swapped jerseys..
  21. Wikipedia says he signed a 3 year contract at hearts in June 2014.
  22. Chinese league is starting to throw around large wads.
  23. Aye, that's a decent amount, but the kind of value any SPFL team should be demanding for a player at that level.
  24. In general, at least for a team like ourselves, good players aren't available in January - unless it's on a pre-contract for the following season.. That's why I never have high expectations at this time of year.
