I don't care who the manager is - it's the players that are underperforming and, as professionals, many of them should be hanging their heads in shame. You shouldn't need a manager to tell you not to pass the ball to opponents, to mark you man and tackle to the guy with the ball.
  2. The good thing about Erwin and Moore playing together is they have a decent (and productive) partnership from their U20 days. Every little helps when you are looking for positives.
  3. On Twitter at least, the message was "Please tell your pals they can go to all five games before the split for as little as £30 with a flexi-ticket"
  4. Aye, you boys focus your outrage on that while I enjoy my memories of standing on the terraces at Hampden with my mates watching him lead us to victory.
  5. Boyd was an excellent player for us and he lifted the Cup at Hampden. I don't care who he supports after he's stopped playing any more than I care about players kissing a badge. Game, set & match Boyd.
  6. The flexi tickets have been given the hard sell on Twitter recently, but no idea about any other social media.
  7. My hopes every season are we don't get relegated. Anything after that is a bonus.

It's a balancing act with the youngsters. They need game time, but physically they aren't necessarily ready for the demands of 90 minutes of SPFL action even every other week. Good to finally see him break through, though. The past couple of seasons he has been one of the standouts in the U20 games. As JJ said about him in one interview "he has continental feet".
  9. The company I work for was in administration for a year with many rumours regarding if our group would be shut down, sold off etc. and yet we managed to perform our jobs to the expected levels. And I bet many posters on here have gone through the same. Footballers must be poor wee petals if they can't go out and play a game under similar circumstances.

I'm guessing when we were debating the "integrity of Scottish football" regarding letting Sevco to compete in the Premier League, you weren't in the "I don't care if we have to field our U16 team and get gubbed every week - as long as we do the right thing" camp.

When you've just been relegated, a title challenge (and the novelty of winning games after a season of defeats) is a refreshing change. I wouldn't want to do it every year, but "best of the rest" is just a fancy term for "not good enough to win". I wouldn't swap the 2 titles and the Cup win for a Best of the Rest.

For what it's worth, his wiki entry says he was at the Celtic Academy before he joined us in 2012.

Like I said, the economics are different now to the last twice we were in the First Division, but the one thing that made it more interesting is every year we started a new campaign with a realistic chance of actually winning a league title (which we did 2 times out of 4 attempts). I think we are in a stronger financial position now if we were relegated than if it had happened last season, but it would still mean a major shakeup of the club structure. Ultimately, however, I think we should have enough to drag us out of the bottom 2 over the next few months. It really was a nice change though to be standing on the terraces at Brockville, Annfield, Shawfield, Palmerston, Boghead etc. instead of a 4th or 5th trip to Paisley.
  14. Ah, interesting. I was going from Wikipedia and the Roger Hynd page says he was in charge 78-79, However, the Motherwell FC page says he was manager 77-78. That's what I get for reading Wikipedia instead of working.

Some of the best times I had has a 'Well fan were when we were dossing around in the First Division and traveling to all the away games. I doubt it would be the end of the club, but economics have changed and I'm not sure it would have quite the same appeal now.
  16. I'm pretty neutral on the whole thing, but the biggest problem facing those that want the ban lifted is the authorities are just going to say that what is in place now works, so why spend the time and money required to change it and police it.
  17. You memory is playing tricks. My recollection was we were pretty rank and a quick check on statto.com shows that under Hynd our league from started off as: Motherwell 0 - 1 Partick Thistle St. Mirren 0 - 1 Motherwell Motherwell 1 - 5 Celtic Aberdeen 4 - 0 Motherwell Motherwell 0 - 1 Dundee Utd Motherwell 0 - 1 Hearts Rangers 4 - 1 Motherwell Motherwell 2 - 3 Hibs Morton 1 - 2 Motherwell Partick Thistle 2 - 0 Motherwell Motherwell 1 - 2 St. Mirren and by the end of October were firmly rooted to the bottom of the league
  18. There's guys in the East Stand I wouldn't trust with a pair of plastic scissors.
  19. Aye, I think that's the most frustrating thing. While the team may have been a bit lucky to finish 2nd last season (although it's difficult to argue against league position), they should be better than a relegation battle. At the start of last season I thought we'd be looking at mid-table, which should have been the worst case this season. Of course, that's what makes the game good to watch - just not so good when it's our own team that is underperforming.
  20. Aye, and from memory, the law came in to force not long after the Steedmans has invested a few quid in building the bar that overlooked the pitch.
  21. Can't imagine there is much money to be made by the bookie or the club.
  22. This. Especially the one that was relegated and then finished 6th in the First Division the season after. The team that missed relegation thanks to league reconstruction was pretty dire too.
  23. I'm surprised people are still reacting to "her".
  24. That's not the reason. Unless the law has been changed since its original incarnation, the blinds go down because the law says you aren't allowed a view of the pitch when you are drinking alcohol. I remember trips to Kilbowie where they had a nice wee bar that overlooked the park and people were able to drink there and watch the game. Then the new alcohol laws came in and 5 minutes before every game they had to bring down the shutters.
  25. It doesn't matter what our lineup is - if we continue to ship soft goals, we will lose. The question is, how do you make players concentrate for 90 minutes and execute the basics?
