  1. My biggest fear that season was when we won the away game against Celtic shortly before the cup semi. I was concerned we wouldn't win two games in Glasgow on the bounce. When Ferguson hit the bar in the first semi I thought that was our chance gone. Thankfully, I was proved very wrong.
  2. Two wins, one draw and one loss, in our league games against Celtic that season too. One draw and win against Celtic in the Cup. Not too shabby.
  3. The way UEFA and FIFA are hellbent on expanding every competition, it won't be long until East Fife are qualified to play in Europa 2.0 Challenge Trophy League Medal Shield.
  4. But Barry does just enough to be appointed on a full time basis
  5. Would have been great if he stayed longer, but it was ridiculous he was even an option for us. Even as a loan he should have been at an EPL club.
  6. Porter was very good and another example of needing a bit of time to find his feet. A good fit for our team at the time, and the Scottish league. And a nice bit of business when we sold him on. He was also one of those players we like to sign who had a record of injury problems, but in this case the risk paid off. The fact that Levein had knocked him back for Dundee Utd was just a bonus. Not in the Coyne, Pettigrew, Moult, van Veen, Higdon bracket, but not far off.
  7. We want to stay on the right side of the law here people, so the less KVV trial related chat the better, until everything is resolved.
  8. I'm unimpressed (but not surprised) with his zero goals for Kille and St Mirren. No comment on the charges, and we need to keep it that way on here to avoid any potential legal issues.
  9. Maybe submitting a job application.
  10. Next thing you know they'll be using our ticket money to pay their own players' wages. What a shower.
  11. Did Robinson ever manage to "earn the right to play football"? I'm glad Wimmer looks to be in the "lets play our game straight from the kick off" camp and lets the opposition deal with that instead.
  12. Halliday said on one of his many podcast appearances that part of Wimmer's approach is to adapt formations for different opponents. And, in fact, against Rangers, he changed our midfield formation after 15 minutes of watching the game.
  13. To be fair, though, it was SK that quickly figured out how a formation to get the best from him. He'd scored 4 in the 15 games before SK took over and scored 16 in the fourteen games after he took over.
  14. With no game this week, The Rancid are just turning out daily stories about Miller going to Celtic For me, that would just show a lack of ambition when there are so many great opportunities out there. And even though I know it's all clickbait to sucker in the OF fans, it's still annoying that they think that's the best he can do. Remember Caldwell said that the performance data shows Miller is the 8th best youngster in the world? Do you think the 7th or 9th best are phoning Celtic for a transfer?
  15. Not only that, but professional managers, coaches and players start figuring out ways to play against new systems. On the plus side, a high press is difficult for any team to counteract if done well. It typically takes lots of short passes from the back when you have a tight marker. But teams will find a way to make it more difficult for us and, as always, that is when the coaching staff start to earn their money.
  16. I believe the technical term for kicking lumps out of opponents is "They're not that kind of player".
  17. They will definitely try, but what will be interesting is to see if we have added new layers (as SK used to say) to the existing approach.
  18. No doubt. When you're a professional footballer it must be demotivating having to sit in and and/or hit long balls, ending every game with 30% possession. The thing is, it looks like the scouts managed to identify some decent players - we just didn't play to their strengths.
  19. Win - win there. Keep and remember the game for ever. Sell it, and you get a hundred quid and the tears of a Celtic fan!
  20. Exactly. Most professional players have no problems putting aside their boyhood allegiances to do their job. It's a completely different mindset. Another classic example is Scott McDonald. He didn't exactly hold back on Skippy Sunday. He did (and enjoyed) the job we were paying for, in front of the home fans he played for.
  21. Winning the Dundee game was huge, because nothing gets players to buy into a system quicker than proving it works with a result. I'm sure being encouraged to put a foot on the ball and make passes helps too. And while wee Barry was talking about his tactic of "telling them what it means to be a Rangers player" our new gaffer was telling us how our second goal was exactly how we had planned it from the analysis. VfB Stuttgart meets Alloa Athletic.
  22. Not quite. The rules said they should have been kicked out the league, but they were allowed to remain.
  23. I was never worried about the playoffs, but others on here tell me we were relegation candidates.
