  1. Director of Football positions never work in Britain. And, to be honest, if someone like Gary Mac was manager, I'm not sure why we would need one - he's not short on experience.
  2. What is his track record in this repsect? I haven't read anything to back that up. I'm not saying it's wrong - I'm just curious as to what he has achieved on that front.

    Canterbury

That's one more birthday than the queen, ya flash git.
  4. Whether you want Macca or not, it's pretty obvious that when he says Motherwell are his team, he means that we are the club that started his career in the game, and as a result, a club that he has some affection for. What team he supported as a boy is irrelevant to that quote.
  5. You beat me to it Al (and funnier than my post would have been too).
  6. Just because he played that way at Fulham (in a bid to keep them in the EPL over the course of a few games) doesn't mean he can't play other styles. Having said that, with the names mentioned, I'd still be more interested in Gary Mac or Luc. What this does show, however, is that there are always people queuing up for manager jobs; even in the SPL.
  7. That would be an interesting shout. There's no doubt he did a decent job with the NI squad and good to hear that it's the 'love of the game' that keeps him motivated - because he's not going to make his fortune with us.

    Monday Email

You got one from Aberdeen because Mcghee swooped for the Motherwell email addresses and, as none of you were under contract, Flow could do nothing to stop him.

It took Tommy more than one season to do that, though. Not that I would argue over who was the better manager, mind, because I think we agree there.

This is what his agent said 2 months ago. ""Maros is keeping his options open for next season and that could also include staying at Motherwell." Hardly a commitment.
  11. Ah, so the two of them are being interviewed at JB's hoose as we speak

And, of course, he said he wanted to stay if an appropriate deal could be made. Not that he would turn down better offers to stay.
  13. Not unless you are planning to use it in the next week or so.
  14. Well it's better than the Blue Square that Setanta show. If you want to watch Ebbsfleet Utd this season it will cost you 15 quid at the gate.
  15. Aye, the direct quotes seem a little thin on the ground. I read "But a little bit of cash for experienced players would help too" as meaning he was looking for a club with a budget after his financial constraints in his prior job. I thought I had read a similar thing in a different report, but I might be misremembering. Either way, I'd take Gary Mac over Luc for a variety of reasons.
  16. We might lose money if the OF weren't in the SPL, but the OF would lose more if the other 10 teams weren't in the SPL.
  17. I'd take Gary Mac. In the press article (if you can believe it) Luc says he would only take the job if we "match his amibtions" and also mentions he wants cash to spend. Even if we meet the former, we don't have any cash to give him, so that would likely be a deal breaker. I imagine Gary Mac is more in tune with the Scottish game at the moment too.
  18. Roger Hynd, if I was to guess.

I know what you mean, but the players do need some time off too. The early Euro games are really part of the pre-season too. I know they are important, but I don't think they can be dealt with any other sensible way.
  20. That's the great thing about facts. There are so many to choose from
  21. McLean almost got us relegated. Butcher almost got us relegated. Mowbray got WBA relegated and he's ready to take the Celtic job. I'm not saying I want Jeffries (I don't), but anybody that takes an SPL job outside the OF is going to battle relegation once in a while.

I thought contracts were dictated by the board, not the manager.
  23. If he based his decision on a few postings to this website, then he will never have the temperament to be a manager.
  24. As long as the next manager doesn't turn up and tell us on day one how he'd rather have the Celtic job, I think we'll all get along just fine. I don't see anybody on here saying McGhee didn't do a good job on the park. Just that his pathological need to tell everyone within range that he wanted a 'step up' every 5 minutes, tended to grate after the first 3 months.
