I didn't see any mention of the word "relegation" from McGhee there. Of course we will be in a scrap next season, because there isn't much to choose between ourselves and 5 or 6 other teams. But it will be a scrap for the top 6, not a relegation scrap.

It's difficult to tell in these situations exactly what has been offered or even what stage negotiations reached with each club. Agents have a habit of exaggerating interest. You would have to believe that we can match St. Johnstone for wages, especially when you factor in bonuses etc. but like you say, I'm sure we wouldn't guarantee anybody first team football, so something like that might sway their decision.

If you expect a design different from every other Canterbury shirt then, with the small number Motherwell will sell, you would probably have to pay about 4 or 5 times the price. Personally, I don't really care as long as the hoop makes a return

True, but there's no reason they couldn't schedule all the post-split games for a weekend (by playing another pre-split game midweek when they have more control over who plays each other). At the very least they could keep the rule that you don't show live SPL games on telly at the same time other SPL games are being played. It might not made that much if a difference in this case, but we need all the help we can get. Alternatively, get rid of the split and have more control over the schedule in the first place.

This is UEFA we are dealing with. They have never managed to keep anything simple. Even the draws they make for cup competitions are overly complicated.
