  1. If you want a statistics class in Combinatorics, I can recommend the Open University.
  2. Don't you just hate positivity? That can"t be helpful when you're a sports professional.
  3. I thought McGinn was our stand out in defence today, always seemed to be the man making the decisive tackle or interception. Agree about O'Donnell too. Giving Gent the edge over Miller (just) because I thought he was solid defensively in addition to his attacking threat.
  4. I won't. They can roll up their plastic pitch and take a hike. Zero entertainment ever on offer at their ground against any team.
  5. Hard cheese, Tony Macaroni. Take your pick...
  6. And Casey's range of passes makes Mugabi look like Platini.
  7. McGinn doing his best Winston Wolfe impression today, cleaning up everything.
  8. As a striker? Bair and Vale. As a midfielder, Spittal, Miller and Slattery. In terms of fitness, every one of them is better than Richie "blowin' after 60 mins" Foran. He got a lot of leeway from many fans because of his off the field activities, but as a player, falls very much into the Average category for me.
  9. Wasn't there some chat about Albanian match fixing a while after that game?
  10. That's also typically how many lines the fans remember before lapsing into "da da da da da dah da da dah da dah"
  11. That was back in the good old days when we had Christian and Ranger's biggest celebrity fan was Andy Cameron
  12. I didn't know that. It's a pretty damning indictment only made worse by the fact all the clubs are having to contribute valuable cash to the whole debacle.
  13. While that is true, he has made something like 24 appearances this season, so it sounds like they are working on his development.
  14. All VAR has done is move poor decision making on the pitch to poor decision making in the VAR booth. So instead of instant poor decisions, we have to wait a couple of minutes for them. The worst is having to wait for every goal to be confirmed. The most important aspect of football has had the spontaneity sucked out of it. I watch a lot of other leagues, including Scottish Championship, English Championship, Irish etc. and not once have I ever thought "that game would have been better with VAR" When there are tight (or even poor decisions) players and fans moan for 10 seconds then are right back at it. Which is how the game should be.
  15. He'll soon be replacing Andy "was playing for Queens Park" Robertson as Max "was playing for Cove Rangers" Johnston in the commentators' phrase book.
  16. Outhought in what way? Did he infiltrate our training last year to make us bang average all season?
  17. In their case it wasn't about selling shirts. It was about getting eyes on the TV screens. The two owners made a tidy sum selling the rights to FX and it brought in good viewing figures. It also meant every Wrexham FA Cup tie was broadcast live. So it made the investors and the club a few extra quid, which was the reason they invested. They were never going to compete with Messi, or even try. (I've seen as many Messi shirts as Wrexham shirts around here right enough - none).
  18. I think the Hollywood names caught more attention in the UK. In the US the documentary really seemed to strike a chord. Of course the Hollywood connection didn't hurt, but that kind of thing is a little more common with US sports teams.
  19. Not sure we were fully committed to that idea - SK certainly wasn't. The reason the Wrexham story became so popular over here was of course because of the documentary. It resonated with a lot of Americans because prior to that their exposure to the game was limited to watching EPL matches. The focus on the fans and the town with its working class roots and social struggles over decades was much more relevant to your average blue collar American than David Beckham buying Miami FC and paying Messi a billion dollars (or whatever). The key is finding that hook. The Mexican players was just a random example because it happened ot me this morning. But there must be plenty of other connections there to be found.
  20. Of course MJC will agree the game's at Fir Park. The rest he doesn't even need to post!
  21. On a different note, I haven't been convinced about the impact of social media for generating overseas interest in the club (or any other club our size). This morning, I was talking to someone in Colorado. He's Mexican and big football fan. He told me he follows Dundee because of their 2 Mexican players and watched the highlights of our recent 3 -2 win there. If you can start finding those kinds of connections then there might be an opportunity to engage fans outside of Scotland.
  22. The salary cap idea sounds more like a reaction the new Football Regulator that has been introduced. Most EPL clubs are spewing money and running at a loss thanks to massive wage bills. Not to mention all the issues many are facing with breaches of the Financial Fair Play rules. I doubt it's workable, but something needs to be done. Just look at the data posted here. For example, only 3 clubs making a pre-tax profit and the eye watering debt
  23. Given how many teams we play against that launch balls into the box, it's not a bad talent to have. I've said it for years now, that as long as he just keeps his passes short and simple he's worth his place in the team based on his aerial presence.
