  1. Thinking back to the furore surrounding certain signings that supposedly hadn't had a proven goalscoring record prior to signing for us - Shaw did. Not defending him as it really didn't work out but on paper he is the kind of player that we ought to be looking out for.
  2. Nothing against Shaw at all and I agree that his signing made sense. The fact that his loan has been cut short suggests to me that there will be a forward signing up soon. There's no way that Shaw would have been allowed to leave if there was no-one coming in.
  3. Nope, nor was Wilkinson. His record suggested that he was worth the gamble but it didn't work out. We moved him on for cash so not a disaster. Shaw probably wasn't part of the recruitment process and was very much a last-minute signing to cover injuries, which he did, although not as well as we hoped.
  4. Yep, I'd agree with all of that. Don't like goalies as captains either and thought that Butcher could have taken it on but then he got injured.
  5. On the subject of Conor Wilkinson, he was signed on a free transfer, scored a couple of goals but it didn't really work out for him. He then went to Colchester for an undisclosed fee so the club made a profit on that deal. It could be said that he shouldn't have been signed up in the first place but SK recognised this and managed to sell him on which provided the club with vital funds.
  6. Young lad that did well at Partick Thistle a couple of years back and was highly thought of before moving to Dundee where he did alright.
  7. Martin Dale withdrew him from the squad saying that clubs in England and Scotland were in talks with him. The rest is guesswork.
  8. Few former players yesterday and P.J. Morrison was definitely the best of the bunch. We'll never know if he would have been good enough at Fir Park but he looks decent and could play at a higher level than Alloa. Morgyn Neill had a fairly good game but seems to have found his level. Connor Salmon took his goal really well but didn't offer much else and Hetherington was quite anonymous.
  9. I think that they can be forgiven for that because of the number of injured forwards that we had then and the lack of time and options at the end of the window.
  10. He's seemingly been playing regularly and is contracted until 2025 so it would be odd if Charlton let him go. Definitely the sort of player that we should be after rather than someone like Halliday - younger, non-O.F., decent career up until now.
  11. London team, play in blue, set to offer him a fifteen year contract.
  12. I'm not at all sure about Holliday either but perhaps a no strings attached contract or loan until the end of the season could work.
  13. When you're paid good money to kick a ball about you should be able to do it well with both feet. It's really not at all difficult.
  14. Oh yes, know who you mean, what's his name? Begins with a C.
  15. Don't think he's been accused of diving. He has a habit of putting himself between the ball and the opponent and then flopping to the ground when contact is made. He won loads of free kicks this way last season. The issue now seems to be that this season referees have spotted this and have tended to wave play on.
  16. Hopefully SK will have been looking for a better midfielder to replace Slattery anyway as he'll be away at the end of the season.
  17. The video was not an example of the club being run in an amateurish fashion. It was part one of a fund-raising strategy, it has created debate and has generated interest in the club. Ten offers of investment within the first few days seems like a good return to me. The timing is also great as there are no games at the moment and it takes the spotlight off the transfer window too. The 'failure' of the club to appoint a CEO came about due to exceptional circumstances - none of the four shortlisted candidates took up the role for a variety of reasons. McMahon stated that he had never experienced this in his professional life. I almost agree with you about the recruitment side of things as there is a lack of clarity - is it all on Nick Dawes? How much input does SK have. Ultimately, the club employed a professional agency to make the video, professional people within the club interviewed professional candidates for the CEO role and our recruitment is in the hands of a professional person. No amateurs were involved as far as I can tell.
  18. Well they randomly loaned him out to St. Mirren last season despite being in a relegation dogfight and needing goals at the time so anything is possible.
  19. They're all three very useful squad players for us so I wouldn't worry too much. Seems we're being linked to a teenaged Canadian defender named James Cameron who currently plays for Vancouver.
  20. We could do worse than starting up crowd chants of "Taylor Swift gives some dosh" and putting that out as well, just to keep people talking. Whoever he is, he may or may not be interested but we might snag someone else along the way.
  21. Just need to look at Dundee United to see how not to do it and how vitally important it is to stay in the Premier League: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67932341
  22. If Tommy Wiseau made advertisements....
