I think Stama will come good but we still need at least one more striker anyway. What happened to the lad from Carlisle we had on loan last season? Armstrong? Is he first choice there now or move to another club? I think he would be a decent choice playing in our team with our new approach. I’m also hoping our midfield will be encouraged to take on some shots from the 18 to 25 yard range. That coupled with TJ and Longelo I think we can spread the goals around. Wondering, how many goals are we expecting to get from our “main” goal scorer? What’s the bar to determine, by the end of the season, if we have a proven goalscorer or not? I think our highest priority for now though, is to sign a strong imposing centre back.

I’m hoping all of our clubs progress in Europe and that it wears them down for SPFL games.

It coukd be that JBA prefers ward for his foot skills ? Although I think we could do with Ox’s height for defending corners.

The phrase “fine margins” has been banded about for a good number of seasons now and it’s very apt in that, really, there is very little between 10 teams. I’ve believed that if we could improve even just a little bit we can get beyond that term and have more control over our results rather than relying on a lucky break or VAR decision or bounce of the ball. From the early signs I think we have taken a good step forward to achieve that improvement. Our attitude and style of play combined with having players who can actually control and pass a ball has us looking much better than we have for many seasons and might be enough to get us out of the pack or at least to be higher up the pecking order of the 10 teams. If so, then I don’t think it’s unrealistic to look for a top 6 finish and a European spot. The question is, as has been mentioned, how well can we maintain our form thru injuries, suspensions and individual dips in form. Of course the optimistic flip side to that is, the more we play this style the better we will get. Someone mentioned we also seem fitter but perhaps that’s just a benefit of having more possession, meaning that we don’t have to expend all our energy chasing the damn ball (not just when other team has it but when we hoof it up the park, usually as far away from our players as possible 😡) Early days but cause for optimism I think. Top 6 finish.

Just watched our goal again. Great stuff from Longelo. He was literally still on his arse as Just chested the ball down to him and he was able to get up and rifle it into the net.

Maybe a brace on his wrist!! kidding aside, I think Stama will start scoring for us. He just lacks a bit of sharpness which, hopefully, will come sooner than later. He’s getting in the right positions and we are starting to give him better service. The goals will start to come. Having said that, plus if Sule has long term injury, we will need another striker for cover or different style. Likewise we still need cover for midfield and defence.

That’s the mark of a good team, being able to perform at a high level week after week so it’s a lot to expect but I hope we can at least perform at that level more weeks than not.

There was one sequence of play, I think while it was still 0-1, we Played out from the 6 yard box, right through the middle of the 18 yard box and out through the arc with Rangers players all around us. I’m pretty sure I said WTF at least 3 times and swore again in relief and delight at our football and that we didn’t gift a goal to Rangers. I may have to watch a replay of the game to better appreciate some our play as I was too busy having heart attacks at the time to fully appreciate it.

I’ve never seen that category before……. ”Total big chances” 😀

However, I will say that I was close to having heart attack on a few occasions playing out from the back 😳 but it was delightful to watch (after it worked) we did cause ourselves a few issues with bad/misplaced passes from time to time but recovered well. I suppose we will have to live with that playing the way JBA wants but hopefully those mistakes will become fewer as we get better.

Just read some Comments on a rangers post that popped up on face book where even their fans are pretty much saying the same thing.

I was also impressed by our counter attacking today, as Well as our general play. Thought we were quick and dangerous when breaking but just couldn’t finish or get final ball. I still think Stama will come good, just needs to sharpen up a bit. Remember he’s been out for a while but I do agree that we need to sign another striker anyway. Thought Sparrow should have taken shot with his left foot although Butler still did have to pull Off a decent save.

What a treat to watch a football team playing football. Well deserved point and coukd easily have been 3. So glad we didn’t give up a second goal after equalizing, that would have been a travesty. Well played JBA and Motherwell.

Exactly ! Not much at all between the 10 teams outside the OF. If we can improve a little bit we will pick up a lot more points.

Plenty to work on. Probably need about 3 new players. (Spine as said earlier) but in general I’m pleased with what I’ve seen in aS much as we are trying to play football.

Yes we have made Mistakes but we will get better. Bad decision from McGinn to give away the corner but I think him and Gordon struggle with us trying to play a passing game. Fadinger struggling a bit today against better opposition but if we can play our new style against rangers it should be “easier” when we play other teams. Longelo had two opportunities to get god shot on goal but his first touch let Him down leading to poor efforts on goal. I’d like to see us give TJ more of the ball and have him go at full back.

I hate gallant defeats.
