  1. No thanks. Wont do anything Chris Long cant. We need someone who can hold the ball up when we are under pressure. Id rather have Curtis Main back on loan than Tony Watt, but ideally someone who could also score goals.
  2. New St Mirren Park has a capacity of 8000. The 1600 tickets allocated is 20% as required by the competition guidelines. If St Mirren can sell 6400 (which isnt a ridiculous notion) good luck to them. They owe us nothing in that regard. That being the case, Im not sure how folk think the club should distribute the tickets if its not through season tickets and Well Society memberships? Season ticket holders are also able to buy online (Society members have to telephone) so there is an emphasis on those going every week having easiest access to tickets. Not sure what else the club could have done to please people.
  3. Sorry, I used to despise both with equal measure. But given their behaviour since they reformed, I sincerely hope to never see SEVCO win a major trophy.....
  4. Quite happy to wait until after the split and deal them a championship denying blow! Be nice to break our duck when it matters most (to them). Delicious in fact!
  5. Strikers depend very much on the team they are playing in and the service they are provided. Shankland has done well at Ayr and Dundee United because both teams were flying high and creating lots of chances. From what Ive seen, the boy definitely has something about him and has clearly worked to improve himself. He is still only 24 so can develop even further. Whether he scores goals for United next year will depend a lot on how they recruit when steppjng up a level. But he would definitely score goals in our current team. Thats not gonna happen though so lets move on and talk about who we could get.
  6. Think we could probably sell more than 1600. Will St Mirren sell out the other 3 stands? No idea what there core support is these days.
  7. I would agree that his pysicality is up for question and hence his defensive capability, but surely no one is still questioning his work ethic? He is at the forefront of things in our high press and from my view works hard to get goalside and supports his defenders when he has to. He is no David Turnbull, who should walk back into the team when he is fit, but then he didnt cost us £3.5m so comparisons arent really fair. A midfield of Donnelly, Campbell, Turnbull, Polworth could be very exciting to watch. Add in Hylton with Long up top we could have the makings of a very dynamic forward line.
  8. Hibs appear to have recovered a bit of form going forward but they still look susceptible at the back. Could be a high scoring game. 0-0 then!
  9. I dont think we can afford to go with our usual 433 in this one. I think we need to match Aberdeen up in midfield and compete that area so we dont get caught out like we did at Fir Park. Gillespie Grimshaw Gallagher Hartley Carroll Donnelly O'Hara Campbell Polworth Scott Long Id bite yer hand off for a draw right now.
  10. Probably not! Just the usual suspects sharpening the knives gets annoying!
  11. Re Seedorf. I actually think putting him out on loan to a Championship team would be the best thing for him right now. He needs to go and get first team games out of the spotlight and give us a chance to see whether he can develop or not. Difficulty with that is it might dent his confidence furrher and you are handing his development over to someone else. We would need to choose wisely and see if that team were interested.
  12. No Im not asking that. I know we have had loads better. But the majority of them are a punt and we have no idea they will be better until they arrive and we find out what they have to offer. Merely proffering he opinion that he would be a useful foil for Long and as a known entity, less of a risk if thats the type of player we are looking for. Of course Long may not sign an extension and Robbo may have a long list of other striking options making the whole discussion a moot point.
  13. On the money we pay? Most are a total punt from the english lower leagues. At least we have something to measure Erwin by. For every Louis Moult there is Tony Straker!
  14. Maybe Chris Long moaning at him for 90 mins could work! Not sure what Erwins contract situation is, but if we are looking for someone to hold up the ball and link up play we could do a lot worse.
  15. I think the problem with Hartley is that he is an old style blood and snotters centre half and was suited to the way we played before. He is far less comfortable with the ball at his feet and passing it out from the back as we do now. The injuries have taken out whatever pace he had left so he is left looking vulernable when pressed high one on one. He does however offer good experience and organisational skills and a serious goal threat at set pieces. Mugabi doesnt offer all of those things as yet so do you stick or twist?
  16. UBH for official club kit designer. Not seen a bad one yet!
  17. Surely that depends on what the CCTV actually shows and the arguments made in court. Why dont we all just wait and see what happens.
  18. Ive heavily criticised Seedorf in the past and was as frustrated as anyone last night with his performance. The one positive thing in his defence is that he is only 20. However, he needs to be showing some signs of improvement and at the moment there isnt much to support that.
  19. 1350 from a crowd of just over 2400....
  20. Agree with all of that. Campbell is a born leader and a very good footballer. The only thing that might hold him back from the very top level is his athleticism. He is probably one of the fittest guys at the club but he is just a little short of real pace for me to cut it in say the EPL. Cant wait to see a fit Turnbull and Polworth in same team providing passes for Long. We could tear a few teams apart.
  21. I like Long. He makes intelligent runs and took the second goal very well. But Campbell was our MoM tonight. He was the one digging in 2nd half when we were under pressure. His drive and determination are incredible. Leads by example.
  22. I dont think anyone is debating the financial sense in a young player moving on. Its whether you will develop better/more quickly as a footballer getting first team games under your belt rather than disappearing into someones development squad and hoping you can swim to the top. Young players like McKinstrey are different in that they moved before they were ready for first team football, so they were changing one youth set up for another. The fact that the majority of our fans never saw him play makes it natural that there isnt the same level of feeling towards him that there were about others. Conversely, you could also argue that someone like Cadden maybe stayed a season too long as his development had flatlined a little with us. Its a difficult balance to strike. Regardless of what happens, its nice to see the produce of our youth system getting plenty first team exposure. Long may it continue.
