  1. I think Andy Rose was the big winner out of todays game!
  2. Unsurprisingly both teams looked a bit leggy today after Thursdays exploits. What I didnt expect was Aberdeen to set up with the sole aim of nullifying our threats and stopping any football being played. That, together with their constant fouling of our players, diving whenever anyone went near them and constant moaning at a very weak referee, certainly served to spoil the game as an entertainment spectacle. That said, I thought it was a fairly even contest and a draw would probably have been a fair result. With Hindsight, Grimshaw in for Rose to start with instead of Bigi might have evened up the battle that the game ultimately was and subs wise Sid instead of Fisher may have been more productive given how dominant Aberdeen were in the air. Overall Aberdeen are leaving FP after a game they made a shitfest won by a scrappy goal with not much between the teams. I suppose theres a backhanded compliment in there somewhere. Definitely still much room for improvement in our squad and tactically I didnt think Robbo got it quite right at times today but we learn and we move on to next week.
  3. Massive game again today and another big test of the progression of this team. We've shown we can win games at home. We've shown we can bounce back from a defeat. We've shown we can dig in away from home and turn a result around. Today we need to show that we can manage expectation and remain focussed after what was a great win. Double headers are always difficult. The opposition gets a real good look at you and its hard to peak twice in such a short space of time. If this team is the real deal we need to see the same focus drive and determination we got on Thursday from the off. Great to hear the manager say we may change personnel to freshen things up but the way we go about our business remains the same. Consistency of selection/formation/style breeds confidence in players. As does winning. Id take a point today but Im greedy for 3. Lets do this Motherwell.
  4. My reading of it was that in order to invoke Les' double your money offer it has to be the Society raising the money. That wouldnt happen with the club selling unissued shares, but I could be wrong.
  5. I wonder if thats why Sid is in. Not the same kind of player as Louis but could be our ready made replacement to compliment Bowman. Obviously if we get a bit of cash in we might be looking at someone else.
  6. Yes indeed. Im sure all the younger generation are as envious of the '91ers.....
  7. Aye your right. My ageing mind just made that part up for itself!
  8. Joe is my greatest all time Motherwell player. To play the number of games he did, maintain the performance levels he did and go so many games without a booking put him head and shoulders above anyone Ive seen play in Claret & Amber. Best Scots born player never to be capped for his country. If Allan Campbell goes on to be half the player Joe was he will have some career.
  9. Quite envious of those that got to see that team play. My dad used to rave about them. RIP Bert.
  10. Cheers Jay. I just read the 51% figure and thought that was the target. Obviously it depends on the take up how much we raise and how much we give away. I guess maybe 60% is a more realistic number?
  11. I am generally supportive of any idea that will raise finances for the club and put us on a more financially stable footing. My only concern would be similar to Weeyins that the dilution of the Society shareholding could, in the future, leave us vulnerable to a takeover by individuals who may not have the clubs best interests at heart. Id be more comfortable if we were retaining 60% share than 51% but then the finances involved may not be as attractive a proposition.
  12. I agree we won the more important game, but Im feeling greedy now! For the importance of keeping the feelgood factor going, maintaining confidence levels and ensuring Fir Park remains the fortress it currently is, it would be magic to do them again. Id take a point though, as long as the performance levels remain high. That would be a pretty decent 3 days work. Re team selection its hard to know what to do. Aberdeen have had a good look at us so do we freshen it up and make a few changes to pose them different problems or do we go same again and see what they come up with and make our changes to overcome theirs? Hard to know but Im now sure Robbo will have a plan.
  13. Great post. Agree with every word. COYW!
  14. Still trying to keep a sense of realism about the team as its still very early days. The cautiously optomistic approach has paid dividends so far. However, we've just come through two of the toughest tests domestically and passed with flying colours. If things keep going this way its going to be increasingly difficult to keep a lid on expectations.....
  15. Very difficult to pick a MoM tonight. Every single player put a shift in. Campbell, Rose and Moult were worthy contenders but I went for the much maligned Ryan Bowman. Chased every lost cause going and dragged the rest of the team up the park with him. He and Moult have to be the hardest working forwards in the league. Great partnership and a great performance.
  16. Nothing to add. Quite simply brilliant performance. Bring on The Rangers!
  17. I think Aberdeen still start slight favourites. They are the team that has been flying high. They have more resources than us and they are above us in the League. They are however, like us, a team in transition and we have home advantage which should help us. I think it will be a close game and there should be goals. Here's hoping we are the ones who want it most on the night and we can sneak a result.
  18. Hibs will argue that it was an all ticket game and that there should have been no issue with fans finding an empty seat as we were all allocated a number on our tickets. They're not going to accept resposibility for large numbers of our fans sitting wherever thy liked. I would agree the segregated area should have been wider and allowed fans to sit further back and get a better view of the game, but thats a slightly different argument. What they cant defend is only having 2 of the available 4 tills open at the pie stand. 30 minute queues before the game and at half time really arent on.
  19. Moult will get the glory for the goals and Cedric will get plaudits for his mazy run but one player stood head and shoulders above the others for the full 90 mins. Alan Campbell take a bow son.
  20. Thought first half was fairly even. Never a pen for their goal but as others have said Stokes had a better claim earlier waved away. Too far away to see Tait incident so cant comment. Moult very unlucky hitting the metalwork. 2nd half we were the much better team. Great finish by Stokes on the break to put them undeservedly 2 up, but this team never knows when its beaten. We dug in got 2 goals back and couldve squeaked it in the end if Tanner couldve got the ball out of his feet quicker. Big Cedric continues to impress and his maisy towards the end was awesome! All in all, a decent point at a difficult venue. Keeps the positivity going into the League Cup tie.
  21. 3-5-2 Is the formation we have played and have had most success with this season. It also seems the favoured formation on many of the top leagues. Id like is to stick with it tomorrow.
  22. Think we have proved on numerous occasions that Moult isnt as effective up front on his own. His partnership with Bowman looks very promising. It would be utter madness to split it up tomorrow. Lets play our game and let Hibs worry about how to deal with us instead of the other way about.
  23. Quietly satisfied and cautiously hopeful is a good place to be. I'll have some of that. Its a long way down from cloud 9!
