Exactly this. -
Apologies. I thought you were fishing for a negative response as per the post earlier suggesting we dont respond positively to any managerial suggestions. He doesnt float my boat but Ive no idea whether Danny Lennon would be any good.

[quote name=Shire Greats" post="453692" t What are craigan managerial and coaching credentials...we've just had to punt a manager, let's have a good think about where we go from here .best of luck ,Iain ,don't like to see this happen, but ultimately it was coming.Good few players need to have a look atvthemselves imestamp="1443021656] Well aware he has no current credentials which is why I qualified it by "short term". Unfortunately there arent many managers with proven managerial credentials that would want to come to us. Therefore any appointment comes with a degree of risk. I said on the other thread we should let Craggs take the reigns while we scout options. If he makes a good start and nobody more impressive comes along, maybe we stop looking......
-
Ok, I will bite first! Nooooooooo!
-
Id certainly be happy to give Craggs a shot while we scout options. If he turns things around dramatically it could be his to lose. He and Robinson are close so they should have a good understanding of each other.....
-
Hopefully Craigan and Robinson get the reigns in the short term at least......

Morton V Motherwell League Cup Rd 3 Tues 22 Sep Ko 19:45

Strange team selection. Drops arguably our hardest working most consistent player in Moult. Drops the experienced Lasley for Leitch but keeps Taylor. The rest you maybe couldnt argue with other than whether we needed to set up 4-5-1 against lower league opposition. Static pedestrian football with the majority of players not showing for the ball resulting in schoolboy errors, poor passing and eventually the long ball. Robinson never won a single header all night. Seemed unable to get his body between the centre half and the ball to hold it up. Touch was terrible and appeared to have no appetite to run channels or do anything that appeared constructive (see Moult decision). Johnson. No longer backs himself to go past a player even when he has half the field in front of him. Continually turned back inside and slowed the ball down even when Chalmers overlapped him and could have taken a pass. Taylor. Anonymous again. (See Lasley decision) Dom Thomas. Tried hard but decision making is terrible. Needs to learn when to offload the ball. Too often tried to beat Morton single handed. Leitch worked hard but distribution is poor. Not helped by lack of movement in front of him but got worse as game wore on. Needs more time to develop. Grimshaw at least went looking for the ball and tried to get into game. Limited options in front of him but managed to give it away less than Leitch. Chalmers. Poor game. Not helped by Johnson in front of him. McManus. No fight or leadership from our most experienced player. Far too slow playing the ball out of defence. Kennedy. Best of a bad bunch for me. He's a raw big laddie and his distribution isnt always the best but gave it everything and put in 3 great tackles in 2nd half to snuff out attacks. Unfortunately none of the other players followed his lead. Law. Horribly exposed at times. His game was summed up by his yellow card for shirt pulling. Ripley. Did ok. At least had good grace to look embarrassed and apologetic at the end. Ainsworth,McDonald, Moult. All improved things when they came on. Begs the question why didnt they all start? Overall an awful insipid performance. -
Ive tried to stay out of this thread so far. It was started ridiculously early and many of the comments have been bad reactions to poor results, which I accept is partly the purpose of a football forum. However, I think even the most positive and patient of fans are now in agreement that the managers time is up. If you examine his time at the club there is plenty evidence for it. 1. No consistency in team selection or formation. 2. Consistently playing players out of position. 3. Signing policy does not match the vision presented by the manager and the club. We are supposed to be running with a smaller squad with greater quality that allows us to make money in transfer market. None of which has happened. 4. Signing policy has not strengthened areas of weakness in squad he himself has identified. 5. No sign of the pressing passing game he sold to land the job. Static players, no movement off the ball resulting in lost possession or all too often route 1 hoofball to players ill equipped to deal with it. 6. Unable to motivate squad. No sign of any fight within the squad. Not one of them lost it last night and started shouting at team mates. Looks like a general acceptance within squad that the games up. 7. Inability to identify which players are having the poorest game and make a change that would improve things and protect the player. There's probably more I could list if I took time to think about it but these are the obvious ones. This isnt a "kneejerk" reaction to one result. Its the observations of a managers tenure over the course of nearly a year. A manager who has been given more money to spend than any manager in recent memory. Sorry Ian. Your a nice guy, but times up.

Fair point. Kinda shows how poor we were that Fosters tackle hasnt rated a mention. Was an absolute shocker. Straight red for me. Not sure if it was due to a hangover from the play offs or if he was on a promise with the missus -
Boyce was the one I was thinking about not Gardyne. Senior moment. He is the stand out in their team for me. Thought Irvine was ok but I was expecting more given the interest he prompted on here when it looked like he might be available to us.

I thought the team selection today was very poor. On current form too many players seem to be getting selected despite very poor starts to the season and despite others having done better when given the chance. Chalmers>Hammell Kennedy> Laing Leitch/Grimshaw>Taylor McDonald has also been very poor and was deservedly subbed at half time. If he isnt fit he needs to be taken away and given his own pre season to make up for the one he didnt get. He wouldnt be missed for 2-3 weeks on current form. Tactically we seem all over the place. We cant afford to keep surrendering the midfield every week. Lasley is trying his best (I dont agree that he was anonymous today) but he is being over run without any support from Taylor. Both immediately looked better with the introduction of Grimshaw. I think we need to look at a 3 from here in. The diagonal long balls mystify me. Im not sure whether this is a tactic or just desperation/poor play from the defenders. We dont have the personnel to make it work so why are we even trying it. When we get the right players on the pitch and play the ball to feet we look useful but it shouldnt take until the 85th minute to work out. PS anyone else impressed by big Gardyne? Seen him a few times now and he seems to stand out in their team. Thought he did much better than Jackson Irvine. -
Im usually pretty patient with players and managers but struggling to see what he offers. I did think he looked better when Grimshaw came on and I have thought for a while that we need to look at a midfield 3. Not sure how that fits into the way the manager wants us to play though.

Moult. He's indestructible and always believes in himself

Not there yet. He says the right things and you can see how frustrated he is in the post match interviews that the players arent following the gameplan. I was starting to swither towards the end of the first half last night but the introduction of Dom Thomas at half time and then Skippy the minute we went a goal down showed that he was at least watching the same game. The changes he made were what I would have done (unlike Saturday). His starting selection v Killie will be telling. Thomas must start and Law needs rested for his own good. Watt or Kennedy there would be fine by me. I do think he should get until at least the first quarter is out of the way and see where we are then.

I certainly dont have an aversion to Moult. Just think we need to go with an extra midfielder to try and get a grip of things and protect the defence better. Think Skippy is better suited to run channels and bring others into play. I wouldnt argue about any of your observations on Moult. He was my MoM v Aberdeen. -

Yeh. Forgot about that. Probably rules that formation out unless he plays skippy in midfield and Moult up front. Dont think he would risk Cadden when we are struggling for form. -

Ripley Watt Kennedy McManus Chalmers Ainsworth Lasley Leitch Taylor Thomas Skippy Harsh on Moult who has done nothing wrong but we need to get a grip of midfield to allow Ainsworth and Thomas room to play. Marv needs time on the bench to re evaluate his desire and ability to play for the team. -
Its hard to know where to start with a performance like that. East Fife were very organised and disciplined and their players stuck well to the gameplan which was clearly to frustrate us and get the ball to Nathan Austin as quickly and as often as possible. We showed a total and utter lack of composure on the ball and resorted to long diagonals to Moult. All that resulted in was East Fife getting more and more of the ball and it was no surprise when they eventually scored and who scored it. Either our players arent doing what they are being asked (which the manager alluded to after the St Johnstone game) or his tactics were rank. Either way some home truths need to be spoken in the dressing room and get it sorted out. Far too many basic individual errors arent helping, but thats usually a sign of players who are not comfortable with what they are being asked to do and/or are low on confidence. The plus side was that, unlike Saturday, the manager made the right changes last night and we dug ourselves out of a hole. Hopefully after last night he can identify the players he can trust to do a job and those he cant. Massive game for him on Saturday.
-
Dom Thomas. He took the game by the scruff of the neck and injected impetus into our attack when it seemed all was lost.
-
Difficult one this week on a account of our manager subbing off 2 of our better players before they could complete the match. Went for Lasley out of those who completed 90 mins. Covered miles on the park and was absolutely everywhere.
-
Can we just stop the league now? Ive never won a predictor before!
-
Moult for me. Despite feeding off scraps all game, worked his arse off and never let his head go down. If everyone in claret and amber today had done the same we may not have lost that match.

Motherwell Vs Aberdeen Saturday 15Th August
joewarkfanclub replied to postiejim's topic in Club Chat
First game of the season for me so hoping that we can dig out a performance from somewhere and a least get a point. Aberdeen continue to recruit well and despite the dismissive utterings of John Collins, I expect them to run Celtic close again. Gonna be a tough one to get anything from. Be happy with a good performance and a goal.
