  1. You already have my son! Given our current dearth of talent at international level its unbelievable he wasnt capped but when you play in the same era as Danny McGrain and Sandy Jardine........guess Joe must know how Andy Murray feels!

Hope he's at the Killie v Celtic game today. That first half should be enuf to change his mind! Mon the Well lets cement 2nd place this afternoon!
  3. Think the gaffer echo's what a lot have said on here. Unfortunately those who would disagree are entrenched in their views and unlikely to change. The only way forward is to drown out the boos with positive encouragement to show the players that are victims of this crap that that attitude isnt representative of the entire support. Lets get behind big Higdon from the off on Saturday and give him a desire to work harder for the cause. If he scores the winner it could turn his season around!
  4. The guy is doing all he can. He cant be something he's not. If we want the best out of him we have to play to his strengths. There are players in the team underperforming more than he is but they seem to be immune from criticism.
  5. Never ever seen a player improve their performance by shouting how sh*** they are at them. We really need to get behind the team, not on top of them. The manager is fair game, but I'm fairly sure ours has broad shoulders!
  6. Absolutely spot on mate. I would be first to accept Higdon is not setting the heather on fire but the abuse he gets is unbelievable. The number of times he flicks the ball on and knocks it back only to find there is no team mate trying to get on the end of it is unreal. The guy isnt that mobile but he does give a physical presence that SHOULD allow others to get into the game. Looks like he is the new Mark Fitzpatrick! We are third on the league and we know we can play much better surely thats a good thing?
  7. Didnt think the game was anywhere near as bad as some are making out. Thot we passed and kept the ball reasonably well, made the better chances against a predictably well organised Broon team. I was surprised at the timing of the substitutions given McCalls reluctance so far this season and I thought they actually hurt us rather than helped so to get the goal when we did was sweet. Well done young McHugh for his desire and composure. Nice to see a player get his head up and look for options before smashing it home! Glad he didnt try to thread it to Lasley who was burstin a gut to get up and help him out! Cheer up Craigy Broon........
  8. Went for Clancy. After the stick he's had in recent weeks I thought it was an assured performance. Didnt get bullied against 2 pretty big centres, put in some good blocks and unlucky not to nick a goal with his header in the second half. Not bad for a Killie reject!
  9. y Great Post! League leaders Motherwell welcome Rangers to Fir Park!
  10. Is their debt not all due to the Park Hotel though? Not sure how it works but I would presume the banks view that as security hence allowing them to keep trading. Maybe squirrelhumper can enlighten us?
  11. I always preferred 'The Temple of Doom' myself. Allows you to use the term 'Disciples of Doom' which again is a winner in my book!
  12. Agreed. He had 5 games so sort out his best 11 and we gave him the benefit of the doubt over that period trusting he'd get it alright on the night. If we had the level of performance we got in the CIS semi he'd have been vindicated but we didnt. Now all we are left with is a summer of uncertainty.
  13. Thot putting Hammel man for man on Brown was a bold decision and to a degree it worked, unfortunately it seemed to cause imbalance elsewhere in the team. As for Saunders I can only think he wasnt fully fit or the manager didnt trust him up against Izaguirre. I agree tho, no reason Hately coudnt have done the same job in midfield. Just depressed that we had virtually 6 weeks to come up with our best formation for our biggest game in 20 years and we play something totally untried and untested. I suppose if we'd won we'd be hailing McCalls genius, but we didnt so we're not!
  14. Totally deflated today. For our first Scottish Cup Final in 20 years, yesterday was so disappointing on so many levels. Never at any time did I feel the fans or the players really believe we could win. Was in the Florida Park pre match, full of Well fans and shouldve been rockin but whenever the songs started up it felt like just the same wee groups joining in. Not trying to tell anyone how their Cup Final experience should have gone but definitely expected more enthusiasm. Was the same in the stadium section B6. Dont know whether it was the weather, the way the game went or whatever, but all I wanted out the day was for both players and supporters to leave with no regrets win lose or draw. Celtic were there for the taking yesterday and we blew it big style on so many levels. Thought the tactics worked to begin with but took too long to change it after they scored. Second half the support could have done more to lift the players as it never looked like they were going to lift us. Fans leaving at 1-0 down with just over 10 mins to go WTF! Thanks to all those who stayed to the final whistle and applaud the players, thats what makes the difference between us and the OF. Ver easy to support a team when it's winning, little bit more difficult when the day has gone so badly! Well done to those that stayed! I hope it doesnt take another 20 years before we get the chance to exorcise the demons of yesterday but I fear it may. On a positive note now that my rant is over, well done to the lads and lassies involved in the display! The one truly enjoyable nd inspiring thing that happened yesterday! Great effort. Well done!
  15. Spot on mate! If we were gonna sacrifice a midfielder dont understand why you would take of the most mobile one. Wouldve hooked Jennings or Lasley.
  16. Best of the Cup Final Vids Every Motherwell fan should watch this before going to Hampden tomorrow thanks again Ally / MALF
  17. To Stuart MCall and the squad before you go on that pitch look in the eyes of the guy next to you, know he will be giving his all for you and promise yourself to do the same for him. whatever you do, dont let the game pass you by, make this the game of your life and leave that pitch with no regrets. do this, and you will have your place in history. To my fellow Steelmen this is only my third cup final in 42 years, dont make the mistake of thinking the next one is just around the corner. get up early lap up every moment. get to the ground early, look in the eyes of the guy next to you. know he will be giving everything for the team and promise yourself that you will too. make plenty noise from start to finish regardless of the score. dont let the game pass you by. together we can create a moment that will go down in history. I BELIEVE!
  18. I've had a long hard think about this and there are different ways to view it. Clearly now with the view of hindsight and given the sentimentality of it all then Phil's would get the nod, however........ .......on the day, Ian Angus's was the most exhilerating for me as at the time it hit the net it felt like that was gonna be enough to win the cup. Add to the fact that it was a very rare moment of sheer quality from a guy who would probably admit himself to being one of the unsung heroes / workhorses of the squad and you have all the ingredients of a great goal...... ......on balance I'm leaving sentimentality out of it and sticking with my 20 year old memories!
  19. Tickets have now been sold to a nice old lady in Newarthill who's been a Well fan all her life. Happy Days!
  20. got an ancient weathered buchanan which is claret and amber-ish! was thinking bout wearing it to add to the occasion but the weather forecast has me swithering.....pure new wool isnae very comfy when irs wet!
  21. A real tear in the eye and a lump in the throat reading this one. My dad introduced me to Fir Park aged 4. He was too young to go to the 52 final so 91 was a big deal for the both of us. Because it was such a big deal my mum came to the game with us, the only time the 3 of us ever went to a game together. Lost both of them since 91 so Saturday will be very emotional. For Coop, Phil, Jamie, Mowgli and everyone else who has lost someone close since 91 lets make it a day they could be proud of. Mon the Steelmen!
