  1. No outstanding candidates. Was between KVV and Max for me. Went for Max purely because Ive given it to KVV the last few weeks!
  2. Are their any of our managers that you have liked? Ever? McKinstry hasnt been getting played as he doesnt fit into the system that got us 5 wins and a draw from 7 games. He got on yesterday because we were losing and the manager had to try something different. He hasnt been frozen out (unless you are ITK) the manager just had to pick a formation to save our asses.
  3. Re the game, I thought we were unfortunate to lose. United started well as you would expect for a team fighting for their lives, but they didnt really create anything of note. After KVV scored we looked the better team and the game should have been put to bed before they got the equaliser in the 2nd half. Poor goal to conceed as we just didnt track the runner. Looked to me like Casey just switched off for a second which is a shame as he has been generally excellent. Re the pen, its soft and and Fletcher is looking for it, but you see them given, so cant really argue. The one surprise is that the second one is very similar and Walsh books Fletcher for diving. Probably shouldnt have lost that game, but we did and it was our own fault. Fine margins. On another day we take our chances at 1-0 and run out 3-0 winners and wonder what all the fuss was about.
  4. Surely if they knew how to nullify us, we wouldnt have created several chances? As has been the case in many of our games this season, we beat ourselves.
  5. All part of the programming! I felt like that last week and we won 3-0 at a canter. It will take a long time to bury the ghosts of '78! 😆😆😆
  6. Mathematically it is still possible to be relegated. But given the advantage we now have and the fact that the bottom 6 all have to play each other in the final 5 games, it would take a freak set of results now. We are 9 points clear of Ross County in 11th which is effectively 10 points due to our goal difference so they would realistically need to win 3 and draw 1 of their remaining 7 games without us taking a single point until the end of the season. Given they have only won 7/31 games all season, I think thats highly unlikely. Dundee United would need to beat us on Saturday and then win 3 of their last 6 without us winning any of our games. They have won 6/31 all season. I think 1 win from our last 7 sees us 100 percent safe. But lets look up and see how high we can get. Every place in the league is more money for next season and the earlier we can set our budget. As a child of the 70's / 80's Im not as wedded to the single claret band as other generations as it wasnt really a thing in that stage of my development. I still do prefer the traditional kits, but I think a change every now and again is a good thing. The fluorescent kit isnt a Motherwell kit at all for me, although I do support the cause and the thought process behind it. We could have gone for black with claret and amber trim to make it different, but I guess there were market research groups saying otherwise.
  7. I like this seasons kit. Im just delighted we wont be relegated in it. I can now banish some childhood memories!
  8. We owe them for the theft of a point last time they came to ours. And KVV will have a score to settle having missed the penalty. Add in Ya Bezzers stats and we should have too much for them. 2-0 Motherwell and another KVV brace!
  9. Even Wullie P didnt reach the same levels at United and Hearts as he did with us. Although he got closer than most. John Sutton is another one......
  10. How about just debating civilly instead of trying to noise everyone up all the time? Its tedious. Its also funny how you and Yodo dont seem to post at the same time. Or maybe Im reading too much into that......
  11. You can be digruntled all you want. You can still channel you energies 2 ways, but keep ignoring that to prove your point if you like. You are probably right. Many of us probably did hang on to Hammell too long because of his playing career. But thats called loyalty and the kind of thing you earn from playing over 500 games and displaying impeccable attitude throughout. Anyway, its time to move on. Hammell is gone, Van Veen is playing well again and the team are winning. Id prefer to focus on that instead of getting involved in petty point scoring debates. KVV has a real shot at 30 goals with 7 games left. Think I will channel my energies into helping him achieve that!
  12. Feel free to be a patronising condescending dick if you like, but please dont misquote me. Never at any stage did I say that KVV was no good. I questioned his attitude, and at the time wasnt the only one. If you cant see the difference in his body language then and now, theres no helping you. There has never been any question over his ability. Maybe Hammell was the problem, and thats fair enough. Kettlewell certainly seems to be getting more of a tune out of him. But as a player you can choose to deal with it one of 2 ways. My opinion was he had chucked it too easily. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your night!
  13. Cant help but feel confident listening to Kettlewell speak. Problem is, I hate feeling confident. Carrying too much scar tissue in that regard! 😄😄😄
  14. Surely he isnt moving until the end of the season? Dont want to stand in his way, but he is under contract. If they want him now, make it 7 figures and we can discuss.......
  15. I think the big problem for clubs like ours nowadays is the size of the academies at bigger clubs down south (and further afield for that matter). It used to be that a young player at Motherwell would come in play 100 games or so and if they impressed they got a big money move down south. Nowadays there is so much money in the English game that even clubs like Leeds can come in and pay the development fee for someone who hasnt even played a first team game. They have so much money its barely a risk for them to hoover up the best talent in the hope that a percentage of that makes good. And it starves us of the opportunity to see out talent develop in the first team and give us the benefit of the "higher quality player we cant afford" for even just a short period.
  16. Reading between the lines, I see what you are saying. However, it is possible that he did both. Unlike a certain other player that used rules and regulations to get himself a move and ensure that the parent club didnt have to pay us anything. Theres a kick back in both examples.
  17. I really dont understand this logic. Even if we had played Max from the beginning of the season, he was still out of contract at the end of it. So even if a club had come in for him in January, how were we going to extract a transfer fee larger than the one we will get as a development fee? Chances are we still get in the region of £400k for him and still only get the benefit of 6 months first team action out of him. The best we could have hoped for is not to get a bid in January and benefit from 12 months first team football. Like others have said repeatedly on here, you can offer a young player an improved / longer term contract. But you cant make them sign it. They are not all Motherwell minded like David Turnbull.
  18. Dont see us getting anything at Celtic Park, even with our upturn in form. They are on an impressive run and with the title in their sights, I dont see them giving anything away. We should be looking to win our 2 home games though and consolidating our position in the bottom 6. Finishing 7th after where we were at Xmas would be some achievement.
  19. We are on a good run, they arent. Our record is good against them and we are at home. 2-0 Livvy! 😄😄😄
  20. Really solid performance yesterday. There is no doubt that Kettlewell has galvanised us by finding a way of playing that suits the group and that the players are buying into. The upturn in form from a number of players is significant. Time to let the Hammell stuff go. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but he is gone now and the team are doing better. Just be happy with that, eh?
  21. Well done for doubling down on your original post......
  22. Great performance off the back of his interview. Nice to see him back it up.
  23. Thought Goss had a very good game. Butcher and Casey also continue to impress. KVV contributed greatly despite seemingly being out of sorts. I gave it to Furlong. He has been good in spells since he came in, but yesterday was his most complete performance by a distance.
  24. I did think this was an April Fool when I first saw it. Personally, Id rather see Lennon Miller getting a chance and being developed from the bench. However, despite clearly being short of games in the last year, Paton did very well when he came on, so maybe he has something. Kettlewell has certainly earned the right for fans like me to shut up and trust his judgement.
  25. I think its a fair enough point. I mean, what if your circumstances change and you want to go to the game at the last minute? You used to be able to rock up at 5 to 3 and pay in at the turnstyle. But now, despute the supposed advances in technology, that option is no longer available? Motherwell at least do try and combat this. Ive seen the ticket guy standing outside Easter Road handing out paper tickets for those who havent been able to uplift at Fir Park. But it really shouldnt be an issue. The club have our details so they know who is buying the tickets. PS, not a dig at you Ropy. Just the most convenient post to quote in my reply.....
