  1. That's a team that's been allowed to go out and play with freedom, spittal and cornelius getting forward and shields getting into threatening positions, shame we conceded before half time but that has been very encouraging so far.
  2. Hammell has said we need a couple of attacking options, hopefully one of them is an out and out striker.van veen is decent enough for our level but the problem is were relying on him far to much,to be coming into a new season still relying on a 31 year old isnt good enough,I genuinely think if alexander stayed we would have signed another efford or shields type and still had to rely on van veen.hes inconsistent to the point where he's good one game then totally anonymous for the next three, throw in any injuries and inevitable suspensions then we simply have to sign another striker,a proper winger with a bit of pace would be ideal as well.
  3. Agreed,as things stand lamie is our most reliable centre half,we would just be creating another problem by moving him to left back, him and mugabi should be nowhere near the full back positions.im not a big fan of a right footer at left back but would be happy enough to go with either odonnell or mcginn there as back up to hopefully a new signing and one that's better than McGinley or Carroll.
  4. He wouldn't have been my first choice but he will get every bit of backing from me.i like how he's mentioned yet again that we need new players and that he's been identifying targets in case he got the job,he clearly feels the team isn't good enough which is absolutely true, let's hope he gets the right backing from the board to make that happen.
  5. He seemed to be hated by pretty much fans of every club but lennon never really bothered me anytime he played or managed against us,he was actually quite complimentary at times about us,maybe that was down to him having an association with the club in his younger days.he would be mad to want to come and manage in scotland again and put himself in the firing line of all the shit that would come his way, even managing a club like ours there would be no escaping it.
  6. I've no idea mate other than hammell and valakari, the other two that are meant to have mad the cut,it's all very quiet.it did say the likes of lambert, thomson and duncan ferguson who were all getting a mention, none of them were ever being considered.
  7. Lambert isn't one of the final 4 according to a couple of media reports today, neither is kevin thomson which is a relief.
  8. I'm the opposite,I would rather see us spend compensation if it means getting the right manager in than using it to sign another player, granted we do need players brought in but hopefully the new manager can get more out of what we have for starters.
  9. I think we're off the hook on that one, we'd need to approach st Mirren first, and I doubt that would be kept quiet. I think your right there to be honest,I just seen the words under contract and automatically thought of robinson.i don't know if it's just me but the whole process seems to be very quiet this time around, which is never a bad thing I suppose.
  10. If that's true,let's hope the other that's under contract isn't robinson.
  11. If O'Donnell was dropped cause of his performances then fair enough but if it was for another reason then we had to watch mugabi lumbering about at right back then I would say that was determent to the team, things happen at clubs all the time but they can't be allowed to fester on especially at clubs like our where we need every player on board,we can't have players sitting in the stand because of fall outs.on the meeting that O'Donnell was meant to have had with the players,I don't have a problem with that you hear that happening quite often, the players should be able to sit in a room and air any grievances and get to the bottom of why things on the pitch aren't going well without the manager being there.
  12. Were definitely in a bad spot right now but let's not hold up the likes of livingston and ross county as some sort of yard stick,no disrespect to either but we're a far better club in every way than those and a few others in the league.theres no doubt wevr had a shocker for the past few months, from selling watt to a rival and then the form since january falling off a cliff,in hindsight alexander should have went at the end of the season,we went into a european tie so under prepared it was criminal but the season can still be salvaged if the people at the club keep calm and get the right man in,were in desperate need for some players but not just any players we need atleast 2 or 3 that will make a difference.on our recruitment it's been all over the place for a wee while now, this summer's signings seem lazy at best, morris is 30 that's previously worked with alexander but he doesn't look cut out for the level were at,spittal is nothing more than an average spl player,we sign him then play him in a different position to the one that he caught alexanders eye in playing for county.signing mcginn would only have made sense if odonnell had left, maybe we were trying to move him on but now we're stuck with 2 experienced right backs,it should have been one or the other with Johnstone getting some game time to see if he could be the successor.weve been down a hole before in between managers and it's turned out ok,there's no reason why it can't this time but there's definitely a big few weeks coming up from us.
  13. That's both hammell and odonnell said that bringing in players is more important than a manager,as fans we all know we need some better players brought in but I just found it strange that both have came away with that statement,it sounds like it's both saying what we have isn't good enough rather than that were short of bodies.
  14. Spittal wasn't needed, nor does he fit in,the same goes for morris plus he doesn't look upto it at this level.mcginn is decent enough but I still think it was a bit of a strange signing.the recruitment has been a disaster so far this summer.
  15. I agree with that about hammell,I love him as much as the next well fan but this isn't the time for him, there's deep rooted problems in our squad and were in need of the right reinforcements, any appointment is a gamble but we need to limit that and go for someone with experience.im not sure on valakari either but it does feel like this time is the closest he has got to getting the job.
  16. Sadly alexander's fingerprints are going to be all over this squad for a while to come, even his style of play is going to take some getting rid of.he hamstrung a squad of players into playing one way and that won't disappear overnight.hopefully we get the right man and allow him to make some changes to the squad, which will be minimal at this stage but fingers crossed it's enough then there's still a full season to look forward too, where as if alexander had stayed the damage would have been severe.
  17. Were definitely in a horrible spot right now,the previous manager has left an absolute mess behind.we look to have been a badly coached side for a while now and it's going to take the new manager, whoever that is time to sort the mess out.were a soft touch that can't defend but yet at the other end our options are shocking,to find ourselves relying solely on a 31 year old up front is a disgrace, you could combine morris, efford and shields and you still couldn't make a competent player out of them.the squad we have is piss poor and I just hope there's enough of a budget left to bring some new faces is cause no matter who the new guy is there's to many that aren't good enough, normally in the past when we have been between managers you could still point to enough within the squad that will do a job but I just don't see it with this current lot.
  18. Were a complete shambles at the back with pitiful options in attack,if it's hammell or a new guy they have some job on there hands.
  19. That sums us up right there, were an absolute fucking shambles.
  20. Ojala was training in the photos the club tweeted out yesterday,so I'm assuming he will be in the squad for tomorrow with lamie being out.ive no idea on mcginley though.
  21. Dundee utd do seem to have recruited well this summer and of course that is a massive help but they looked to have been well prepared for last night, they were up for it as well as looking fit and sharp, where as we were the complete opposite.if you put the effort in you will get the rewards, they got what they deserved last night and we got what we deserved against Sligo.
  22. Hes a good character to have in the Scottish game but the reality is dick campbell is nothing more than a lower league manager.
  23. I agree with that, thomson has had one season managing in league 2 where his budget dwarved any other club in that league,he wins promotion at a canter then resigns in hope of a bigger job which is yet to materialize.thats not a great look for a start, could he just resign leaving you in the lurch if something better came his way.hes the flavour of the month cause he's an ex old firm player trying to make it now as a manager,we have darren odeas name being mentioned in the press for the same reason.i wouldn't want either at the club,if we're looking to go down the route of an inexperienced manager then you would think hammell would be in front of those two.
  24. If we're looking at going for experience then lambert would probably be my choice.his managerial career started off well with some promotions in england but the last few years hes jumped about a few clubs, albeit some big clubs.by all accounts he spends a lot of time in germany trying to learn from different managers over there.im not even sure he would be interested in us but he strikes me as similar to owen couple in that there options in england seemed to have dried up and a move back up here might be the best thing.
