Ojala has looked the part and I really hope we can get a run of games out of him.we have been unlucky with injuries, every centre half we have has been injured at some point this season.i would be more than happy with any combination of ojala, mugabi and sondre.i don't get why mugabi wasn't involved today, away from home at tynecase in what was a big game in terms of league position was strange,we need our best players on the park, alexander needs to get a settled team on the park and not have 3 and 4 changes everygame.we really need a settle midfield as well, were this far into the season and we still haven't found the right mix.
-
Lamie did develop into a dependable player for us but sondre is a far better player even though he's been poor the last the last 4 games.i don't get the whole play carroll at centre back when there's far better options on the bench.alexander saying we were the better team is just nonsense,we shot ourselves in the foot and handed the game to an average hearts team.
-
You have a difference of opinion to me,your not coming across as obtuse or flippant for a second.lamie was a bombscare for a while and then improved into someone that we could depend on when he was in the team but I would still have sondre before him everytime,I do think he's been poor since the break,I don't think having carroll beside him is a great idea,we definitely need a settle centre back pairing to get the best out of the options we have.
-
I think he's played well in most of the games he's played,I disagree about positional sense,he's impressed me with that side of his game,he isn't the best in possession but he's just a typical old school defender, wants to defend first and foremost.
-
I agree with that, there's no doubt lamie has improved under alexander and I wouldn't have minded if he had signed a new contract but at the same time we have three centre halfs better than him and he won't be that hard to replace,he's a decent premier League player at best.sondre has been a really good signing for us but like the rest of the team has been poor since coming back from the break, the amount of times he sliced his clearances today was ridiculous.
-
Strange that mugabi was on the bench,he's only missed a couple of games so it's not like he wouldn't be match fit.hes been one of our best players this season and to go with carroll there and have mcginley in the team yet again is puzzling.alexander seems to have a tendancy of leaving players out the team for spells at a time after they have been either injured or suspended,we've seen it with carroll and slattery this season already.its time we got our best players into the team and try to go with a settle side if we can.
-
We're struggling in front of goals at the minute, the last thing we want to be doing is gifting the opposition goals like we did today,it's always going to be an uphill task getting back into games with the lack of goals in the team right now.if there's money in the budget to bring another striker in then we simply have to,we've put ourselves in a good position to throw it all away.i was pleased to see the changes in the line up today but alexander needs to find and stick to a settled team selection.
-
I'm not sure amaluzor is up to it but he seems to only get on the park when the game is gone,it's not really fair on the guy.
-
Beside the obvious in terms of goals, our style of play relies on a watt type, his work rate, hold up play and ability to come short and get us up the park is being sadly missed.our forward line is far to disjointed,I really worry where the goals will come from.
-
We have blew it big time here through our own stupidity.
-
We need to come out and go for it in the second half,we cant miss out on taking something from this game because of that total fuck up for there goal.were still in this but need to be taking the chances that are coming our way.
-
Shot ourselves in the foot yet again, shocking goal to concede when we have been comfortable.
-
Lamie won me over after thinking he was a bombscare for a while,I was hoping he would have signed on again but it's no real surprise he's moving on,I dont think he would ever be more than third or fourth choice pick.ideally he would move on before the end of the month.
-
That's exactly the changes I would like to see,we've looked completely flat since coming back from the break.we need to make some changes for this, play like we have been and this will be a certain defeat.
-
Agreed,I was hoping we would have went with goss, slattery and cornelius against morton.the midfield we went with last night just doesn't have enough legs about it,cornelius would bring a bit more energy in there.itll be interesting to see who alexander goes with now that donnelly is suspended.
-
After the sending off,I was happy enough with a point but for me it still feels like another opportunity missed,we were poor but hibs were even worse than us.weve passed up two real opportunities between last night and the ross county game.defensively last night we were fine, mcginley was solid enough, his distribution in the second half at times was woeful but that was his best game for a while, carroll wasn't put under much pressure but I really don't fancy him in there for games when we're going to be defending more than we did last night, sondre was class and like mcginley, odonnell had a fairly solid game. The midfield is a real issue, the three that started last night just can't play together, goss has been good of late but we can't have maguire and donnelly in the team at the same time, there far to slow in possession which just stifles any momentum.we could get away with one of them playing it simple and moving the ball onto other players but we can't have one slow player passing it to another.im guessing it's the managers instruction but atleast one of the midfield three needs to start getting forward and supporting van veen and getting beyond,we need the midfield to keep the opposition guessing by making forward runs, having three defensive side of the ball just isn't working. My last point about our midfield leads me onto our forwards, roberts is dropping to far back to try and pick the ball up,there was so many times last night, especially in the first half he was picking the ball up about the half way line and having to much do then after,we need him on the ball in more threatening areas.van veen and shields were quiet last night and just highlights how we need another option up front, hopefully we get someone in. None of the other teams have seen to come back from the break on fire,so theres definitely no need for us to panic,I think if we can get another striker in and a wee tweak in midfield,we will be just fine.
-
That was dire stuff from both sides,we have came back from the break looking really flat,we need to find a spark from somewhere.that was as poor a hibs side as I've seen for a while, there was no urgency even when we went a man down.
-
Stupidity from donnelly,he was never winning the ball coming in at that angle.
-
Strange line up yet again, hopefully we manage to get the job done though.
-
To play a left back at centre half when you have two centre backs on the bench is slightly baffling,I get not starting ojala as the last thing we want is him getting injured again in a game like that but there wasn't a better time to play oconnor.
-
The team selection on saturday was baffling, carroll can't get a game in his natural position but he gets brought in at centre half when we have two defenders on the bench,I think this would have been an ideal game to give o'connor some minutes.saturday showed yet again that maguire and donnelly shouldn't be in the team at the same time, there both far to slow in possession, which would be fine if we had just the one in the team and there role was to keep it simple and move the ball onto others but both in a three man midfield just doesn't work,we have some decent options to pick from in midfield, hopefully we see atleast one change for the hibs game.like maz in the post above I think we would have been a couple up had van veen started, there was 3 or 4 times in the first half where there was a decent ball in from out wide and none of our forwards were in a position to do anything about it,if we had a natural centre forward on the park,I think we would have been up by half time.i think we need another striker to compete with van veen through the middle,it would be madness to rely on just him as our main source of goals for the rest of the season.
-
He does look a good prospect,he looks the type that wants to get on the ball and doesn't lack confidence.
-
Don't get me wrong, play like we did today against aberdeen and we will get put out.as much as it's a boring draw,it's actually a decent chance of progressing into the next round.our cup performances so far this season have been terrible and there will need to be much improvement to go any further in this cup.
-
There is nothing to fear from playing aberdeen, that's just a fact.
