Even with better forward players at our disposal we have seen games like today so many times before,we played decent and were comfortable but lose by the one goal,it was a frustrating day all round but we have started the season well and shouldn't let it get us down.i think we're only a decent striker away from being a top six side this season but without one it could go either way.
-
Kettlewell has confirmed that efford was one of our top earners which is mental,it doesn't sound like we have taking to much of a hit to get rid of him either which is a bonus.
-
The writing was on the wall for efford since kettlewells comments before the hibs game, they were very similar to danzaki and the next thing he was gone, hopefully it's worked out the same as danzaki who had a club lined up and it didn't cost us any money to move efford on.

except when he had his brainfart in the 1st half and went for the same ball as dan , but he ho we recovered
Your right,I forgot all about that, probably cause anytime he makes a mistake we concede 😂

None of them failed but i've openly criticized Mugabi on a few occassions but he deserves praise for his recent performances and long may that continue
Mugabi was outstanding, that was as good as he's played for us.games like today suit him where he can go and attack every ball and clear his lines without thought,it's when he has time to think he can turn into a bombscare at any second.he showed today he can be a good player at our level,he just needs to stay switched on and show it more often.
-
Great 3 points,it's always good to get one over on them especially now they have that wee nyaff naismith in charge.i was really impressed with us today, some lovely football in the first half including the goal and even when we were backs to the wall a bit in the second half we were comfortable.how good was casey,he was immense today.
-
Hopefully gent works out like furlong did for us,he seems to have a bit of pace about him so between him and spencer we may be back to young pacey fullbacks that like to get forward.

He hasnt had a better offer yet or he would have signed for someone already. I wouldnt give up on him just yet. The rumour was Fletcher AND Ollie Shaw. It wasnt an either or.
I wouldn't be surprised if fletcher still signs as well,if the sticking point was it was only a 6 month deal we might need to compromise and get him here to the end of the season, even with shaw signing were still light up front and only an injury away from a crisis again,I think we may see efford move on and and fletcher arrive.

Looks like it's going to be oli shaw

No stealing a win today, we deserved those 3 points after that 2nd half performance.
Totally agree, that much improved second half performance more than deserved the result,it does feel like killie have done us at the end of a few games over the years,it's always nice for a bit of payback, you really can't beat a last minute winner.

It's great to know that dick turpin does actually own a claret and amber mask 😀

That's souare going to be missing for the next few games and obika is expected to be out until december.
-
Obikas problems with injury are there for all to see, between that and his performances last season, for me there was no reason to keep him on.we now find ourselves in the situation where he's here this season but hardly plays which will surely mean that the option of another year next season is off the table or if he is here next season were still in the same boat where he's a year older and hoping he doesn't break down at any second.ive no idea what will happen with biereth,he might be an option in january but right now we need a couple of decent signings up front.

Didn't Kettlewell talk negatively about Efford in a press conference recently?Â
Your right he did,I'm sure it was in the press conference leading up to the hibs game,it sounded like his days were numbered going by kettlewells comments.im not a big fan of efford but think we might need something different in this game that he might provide, the thought of wilkinson and bair as our only options is pretty scary.
-
Cowardly tackle by dunne that came as no surprise as having seen him enough for us,the guy couldn't tackle a fish supper.he took a leaf out the richard tate handbook of trying to do a motherwell player every time he played against us,I hope any good will towards dunne is gone and he gets it tight anytime he plays against us the cunt that he is.
-
Fletcher is a player we should have been looking at before bringing back obika and signing bair,he would have been a better option that either of those,we have wilkinson as the target man so adding fletcher now would just give us another big guy up front with not a lot of movement,we need the opposite, were crying out for pace and movement up front.

Yep, Kettlewell clearly has no trust in McGinley and doesn't want to fully blood Wilson yet, so to me it appears that the former is now surplus to requirements. I think the guy deserves a fresh start elsewhere, and I wish him well.Â
Aye it'll be best all round if mcginley moved on,what's the deal with soaure,he's injured now as well.ideally we get wilson out on loan and sign another left wing back that will actually come in and start, this shuffling mcginn to the left like we did on saturday isn't the answer either.
-
Its not ideal but I would start with efford in this game, were definitely going to need a bit of pace and movement up front if we're to get anything from this game,if we fall into the trap of hoofing the ball up to wilkinson and bair then we can forget it,that will suit that kilmarnock defence down to the ground.

With Maguire out the door, and hopefully Lamie and Efford following soon, we should have the budget to sign a proper number 9, a versatile wingback and a controlling central midfielder.Â
I wonder if things will change with efford now we have these injuries and he will get more game time, hopefully we can move lamie on,I know mcginley has had his problems but surely he's another were looking to move on which would suit both parties, the fact we changed things about to put mcginn on the left on saturday more than suggests he isn't in the managers plans.
-
It doesn't sound good with regard to biereth and now we're left with two fit strikers,we need to be signing two but the way the budget is that might be beyond us,it' not panic stations but definitely concerning.
-
Kilmarnock look like they might be a hard team to break down this season, they've made a couple of decent signings in defence, that and the fact we have problems up front, the first goal in this game will be vital,we need to be getting it.

Today was little different to how we’ve played previously this season. Up against an organised and determined outfit in St Mirren our drop-off in quality in key areas from last season was exposed.
For Kettlewell’s formation to work we need to replace both Max and Furlong,  disappointing that this hasn’t been addressed yet. In midfield, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us make another move for Goss as Davor was miles off it and really shouldn’t have came out for the 2nd half. Then there‘s obviously the need for a bit of pace and creativity in forward areas.Â
Pass marks for McGinn and Casey today, not many others. At a time that the manager pleads poverty in every interview, I’d have expected us to have had a right good go today but we never posed a threat.Â
Totally agree about the full back positions, that was actually my biggest fear coming into the new season,we have gone from two young players that were fresh with a bit of pace and were a genuine threat going forward to two in there 30s that didn't play much football last season, odonnell and souare should have been the back ups this season.hopefully were still looking at strengthening in that area but I'm sure it will rest on getting the likes of lamie and mcginley out first,as much as we have all seen games like today many times before, going out the cup as softly as that will always be frustrating.
-
It's always gutting to go out the cup with barely a whimper,we were woeful today.

Its looking like obika will be out long term according to kettlewell,i wonder if we will look to bring in a replacement or go with what we have.

We're a pretty solid team defensively so we should be looking at having a real go here.we definitely have issues up front but putting bain and that bombscare of a swedish centre half under pressure is a must.
