  1. I remember Essandoh playing in a friendly against either a premier league or what would now be a championship team and skinning a few boys looking brilliant before proceeding to fall over his own feet or the ball rather than getting away a shot on goal.
  2. Aye dodgy signings like McSkimming, John Hendry and Andy Roddie didn't help and then Bosman ruling came along and sunk the already distressed ship.
  3. Rangers are there for the taking no doubt about it. I wouldn't argue for a second that we don't have the stronger team. However with home advantage, a big crowd and no doubt being extra pumped up for this first match against SPL opposition this is a big banana skin for us. We need to start positively and get at that particuarly suspect defence and not give them any encouragement. As they do have some players that on their day can cause us problems.
  4. If Lawless goes on to a better level than us or even very well at about our upper level SPL then fair play to him but it really will be about a first in about 25 years someone we've let go has went on to excel. Least that I can think of. I don't think he was let go because we couldn't afford him, think McCall would have felt he wasn't going to do the business. It isn't like younger players aren't getting a chance that is for sure.
  5. Yeah can't believe they didn't show that penalty claim, esp after seeing a replay showing it was a stick on pen. Cummins did ride his luck though, many a ref would have seen that as a foul. Angle on the telly suggested he had some cover so maybe not a straight red.
  6. Yeah I suspect Randolph is going to leave on a free in the summer, hope I proven wrong there, and I had definitely thought he was someone who was going to bring us in a substantial(for us) transfer fee.
  7. If true I trust we not expecting anyone to go out the door I hope.
  8. True enough about Omar, I guess it comes down to your expectation of a player. I'd be surprised if Stevenson was anything other than solid and therefore happy enough to get on a 3 year deal. Omar we new nothing about really and now we do we're somewhat regretting it. Also happy we got Humphrey on a 3yr despite being hit and miss.
  9. Peter Leven I mind being decent at Killie, generally been a solid performer in his time down in England. Think he flirted with a bigger move a couple of times and we'd could do worse if he fit and motivated.
  10. Someone uses a stereotype in lighthearted banter poking fun at the Scottish media and this thread goes into meltdown. Worst of it all is it makes me feel grubby defending Frazzie! Lets face it he does deserve pelters but not for that nonsense.

    Saunders

Provided he comes back fully fit I don't see why he won't be around for a while. With Hutch potentially away somepoint this season, Hately out of contract if he can get back in training regularly he'll get a chance. Far to early to say how he'll come through this setback. He was raw as others said but had enough solid games in among the few iffy ones to suggest a solid SPL future if nothing else. If he spends the next season or so warming bench then sure he might need to take a step back to go forward but imagine he would.
  12. Out of contract players, not that I seriously suggesting we looking at the select few on that list. But goes to show there surely some out there that we should be looking at if some of these guys and your Faddy's aren't flooded with offers. Out of curiosity can we afford 80-90% less than what a Clark Carlisle was on at Preston last season as a Hutch replacement?
  13. If you asked me that last season I'd have taken what we got the CL qualifiying slot as it was something we had never done before. Now having done that it a tougher call and given that we are unlikely to qualify directly into the CL proper then a cup win maybe holds more appeal but I certainly wouldn't have swapped Killies League cup for our shot at glory against Panathanikos.
  14. We lost the game last night more than they won it for sure. They showed signs of being a good team, they looked a solid unit, they took their chances and as first half went on were controlling the game more and more. Our defending at the first goal was criminal however. Should never ever lose a goal like that. That will forever be a source of irritation. Especially as after Cummins tackle on the boy that had to be subbed it had largely killed that bit of momentum they had been building. Only plus side and it a small one was the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half. I don't think we quite had them panicing but we started playing a bit and were getting a bit closer to their goal and playing in an area where chances might have came. Nothing to concrete came out of that spell, a good Hump run and cross, Ojammas sclaffed shot, the poor effort from 25 yards when he had a couple of good options to pass. But if we hadn't given up another soft goal I think we good hvae kept going and maybe got something. Overall the performance was a big let down, poor compared to how we played the Panathanikos game and we haven't done ourselves justice. I just hope the players put that frustration to good use in the next few weeks in the league. I not going to slate individuals, everyone will no doubt feel they could have done better. Maybe Cummins and Randolph excepted.
  15. Yeah from BBC And just as Billy Dodds speaks about the danger of Motherwell on the break, there's a two v one situation with Henrik Ojamaa and Michael Higdon in the Kilmarnock box. However, the Estonian fails to pass to his team-mate and the chance is wasted. Should have been game over at Rugby Park. Ojamma you were a breath of fresh air last season and I know we shouldn't have to short a memory but for fuck sake you aren't Messi start playing as part of the team and not just for yourself!
  16. Law off a bit early, no injury there I hope. Humphrey I'd assume would never have gotten 90 today after being out.

    Steelmen Forever

Same price gets you a piece of plastic with John Gaghan's name on it I believe?
  18. Delighted to see Hutchison playing, solid 60 minutes and no adverse reaction or niggles please!
  19. He out if contract so can sign for clubs post transfer deadline.

    Everton

Fairly positive stuff. Just hope Hutchison fit for a run out in next game as not fair to throw him straight into CL action.
  21. Only expectation is that we'll have 4 european games and that the club will exist this time next year, what state we and the rest of the Scottish game will be in is anyones guess. If Scottish football pulls together there is no reason is shouldn't be in better health than it is now but when we have likes of Regan and Doncaster, panic merchants like St.Mirren and ICT you and no doubt Celtic looking to keep balance of power as much in their favour as they can it hard to really believe it will be the case. SPL board meeting should be looking at pooling resources and minimising damage of potential commercial/TV revenue shortfall. Scottish football is never going to command EPL/La Liga type audience or TV deal but it would seem short sighted of SKY/ESPN to just bale out when the golden goose that is Rangers will no doubt return. They should be looking long term.
  22. I recall a season QOTS I think pumped us 4-0 in first friendly, memory suggests we went onto half decent season. I not overly worried by this. Just hope Hutchison is fit for the CL and if have any potential signings coming in hopefully we can bag a Clancy type effort. Bound to be some decent players needing a club.
  23. I know we probably not looking at huge amount of new signings, but for the love of all that is decent someone mod this thread and get rid of the ramblings, delusions or plain old fishing trip above and get this thread vaguely OT.
  24. Saw McFadden towards end of last season play for Everton and he looked alright. I'd take him in a heartbeat on a short term deal. Clarkson I'd also welcome back, he doesn't have the same quality or glamour that Faddy has but he was excellent for us in last two seasons. However if Jennings goes and the budget is tight I reckon we'd be needing to sell Murphy to create space in the squad and free up budget for him if we needing to get a midfielder in as well. Short stint for Faddy through the CL/Europa league qualifiers and with luck we land in Europa league and boost the coffers. He walks off to top end Championship lower level Premier league for bigger money and we sign up Clarkson to replace him.
  25. Fail enough times and we might get that 16/18 team league most people want finally, every cloud and all that.
