Barring getting relegated and feel free to bookmark this and remind me about it come end of the season should things go horribly wrong, we have very little to get upset about so really get a fucking grip people. Ok so we got a small squad and arguably not even a particuarly good one. We've had one Hampden day out, we have a favourible cup draw in the Scottish and in the league we look fairly safe. So maybe the league isn't going to be much to write home about, big fucking deal. We have no divine right to be in the hunt for europe every season. I'd say it would be nice but then again maybe not, all consistent success seems to do is turn most fans into over demanding weans that spit the dummy soon as things take a downturn. If McCall can steer us to the end of the season without the spectre of relegation opening up then job done, if the cup run gets us to Hampden again then fanbloodytastic as it keeps it interesting, but we are all well aware that we aren't a club with the funds or the prestige to click our fingers and get quality players tripping over themselves to sign. So in short just get behind the manager and the team in the short term and judge the man on what he does over the longer period. prefarably next season when he's had months to sort out getting players in and plenty time to work with what he already has. The negativity on here is horrendous, and I'm not saying I never feel it but barring collectively Scottish fitba gorwing some balls and stopping letting the old firm ream us things are always gonna be somewhat bleak and if you can't deal with it I suggest stepping away from it and stop letting it get you so worked up. It a game of fitba, some perspective on its importance is well needed in here.

Aye mental beyond belief, take a zero off the end and McCall might have twisted the boards arm. £200k on a fee for a guy with limited sell on appeal, unless some Polish buy out already taken place not happening.
-
Only if they get relegated.
-
Sorry but they are perfectly valid comparisons, managers who's first foray were largely abysmal. Just so happens McCall was abysmal elsewhere so I hope to fuck he can copy those two and do a better job for us!

We wern't the better team today except maybe in relative terms but we did put in a good account of ourselves and with a bit more rub of the green could have maybe won it or at least got to extra time. So well done lads, I fear a gubbing today and we've at least held our own and made them work for it a bit. Don't want to have a go at anyone but despite it being by no means a Clarksonesque sitter a la last time we lost a semi final to that lot why oh why does Jamie Murphy seem to have the strength and power of a toddler at times when it comes to shooting. Was it a hallucination that 25 yard screamer against the Accies last season? He seems to hit so many powder puff shots it defies belief. If sitting about 30 rows back a bit to the left of the corner flag I'd been taken out by a mishit piledriver from the lad I'd have more sympathy than seeing another shot that was tantamount to a passback in the dying minutes of a cup semi final!

Absolutely overshadowed, but imagine if we'd had someone as good on the right as McKinnon was on the left, ooft!

The 93/94 team by and larges pisses over the 07/08. What I'd give the latter team is that the attacking trio are maybe on average better than Coyne/Arnott. Coyne for me stands head and shoulders above the other attacking options for all round game and ability to score goals. McCormack for talent probably comes in next and could well oust Arnott. But could you ever be really sure that any of the above would gel with Coyne as well as the wee man did and add in a Clarksonesque ability to run through a brick wall for the cause it wouldn't be an automatic dropping for me. Quinn might get in ahead of Shannon, as a solid citizen Shannon maybe keeps place but on a good day Quinn could offer a bit more though could also be quite chronic on a bad one. As mentioned it more likely McCart/Davies than Dolan/Philliben but again in that area Craigan could at least compete with McCart and Hughes/Davies bit of a coin toss. Maybe give Hughes the nod on that 07/08 season form. But given the different formations played again it hard to pick who'd be in who'd be out if picking a best XI out of the two teams.
-
I hope he's looked after himself as well as Ryan Giggs, a wee bit of pace never hurts in a winger. Doesn't need to be Humphrey quick, but if he can hit a decent cross and show a wee bit fleetness of foot hopefully short term he can do a job.
-
Dunno about the latter, mind we took a punt on that Gregan(Forget first name and not even sure got the surname right) lad who sat on bench now and again and ended up going to Stirling Albion I think. The fascination with the mediocre foreigner is just the hope of something different. The hope that they turn out more Nijholt than Maaskant, and that wee bit more mystery that tends to surround them where as Scottish players we've already got an opinion on most of them(usually negative) and the foreigners arrive with something of a cleaner slate upon which in likes of Casgoldas case encourages the imagination to run riot.

Probably Randolph should edge it but went for Hutchison. Nearly gave away a shocker but given it was his first game back in seemingly forever he was otherwise solid a couple of Craiganesque clearances aside. Hope he can stay fit get a run and smooth the edges off and we'll have won a watch!
-
Quality of game today was poor. That said it almost got entertaining in patches if never that good. Hutchison was biggest plus, ok he was a bawhair away from selling the jerseys but 95% of the time he looked solid and an improvement on Reynolds. Hopefully a few games together with Craigan will sort out a decent partnership to at least the end of the season. Forbes wasn't as bad as feared, even won a couple of tackles. Not quite the playing as if we were a man down of some weeks, with a bit of confidence he could maybe at least be worth having around though we still clearly need a proper left sided midfielder and playing their will never likely do him any favours. Casagolda again looked ok, nothing to suggest he going to explode into a 20 goal a season striker but composed enough and got involved. Indeed one nice pass which think defender just nicked away before the flag wrongly went up nearly had us clean through. Not suggesting we start him but he maybe not a total write off. Definately need another forward option though. Sutton is ok but essentially a plodder. If we can get in the few faces we clearly need then no reason we can't at least compete for top half but we are so done for if they don't come in, we are right down to the bare bones just now.
-
Least Casagolda got on the park, Kraska was paid to go he was so bad without even sniffing a competative appearance.
-
Well least for their £30 pound a month they getting what they wanting, where as for a £30 raffle ticket they likely getting nothing. That said I kinda agree that people preferring fitba from their armchair is only helping to kill the game where you aren't considered a glamour product worth chucking money at.
-
Aye basically anyone that already has the funds to go on a regular basis is paying more than enough all in. I supported Motherwell for about a quarter century now and I'm happier when we win than lose, but end of the day fuck paying even more just so what are on average a bunch of bangers can play fitba for a living and no even need to be very good at it and make several times what most people earn for what is essentially a hobby they getting paid for. If there is money floating around in fitba I don't begrudge players getting their fair share, but I don't think it should be for supporters to be constantly bled dry. By all means if it means that much to you go ahead, but the budget for one more player maybe is unlikely to make the difference between some sort of tangible success and what we have now. You are just far more likely to be getting even less value for money and more likely to be seen as a mug that clubs think will keep coughing up for medicority based on blind loyalty.
-
To be fair to Casagolda he only a comedy player because of the strange thread that started around him. The few times I seen him on without looking to have any great qualities he seemed to least have half a clue what he was doing. Maybe given a run of games he might well have started to find the back of the net but we'll likely never know. I won't shed any tears if he goes now as we really could certainly do with more of a proven quantity than taking a punt on some guy that scored goals in Belgian reserve fitba or whatever.

The poster was asking for clarification not yet another opinion given this move doesn't appear to be confirmed yet but seemingly likely.

Hope Fitzpatrick can get himself established as a first team regular and do well, a player always had time for and disappointed to see him go. Hope to hell some of McCalls irons in the fire turn into new faces soon as the squad is paper thin. At present I don't think we even got a first XI I'd be comfortable with now Blackman and Fitzpatrick are gone. Even Gow to an extent, probably the right decision but their was a player in their waiting to get out if utilized right and had head screwed on also which didn't appear to be the case.
-
Soon as I heard Forbes in for Fitzpatrick I thought we'd be lucky to get anything from this. If Fitzpatrick is away to Ross Country we really really need a left sided midfielder in as right now we got no one that is remotely effective there. You'll get an honest shift from Sutton or Murphy but really putting square pegs in round holes. It is a bit harsh calling Forbes an imposter of a footballer, but he certainly is an imposter of a left sided midfield player. I doubt he'd do a whole lot better in the middle of the park given his form dried up before he got shunted out wide and that he seems to have the fitness level of Chief Wiggum!

Cautionary tale my arse, get quadruple the wages and not even have to play every week. Possibly more than that, and if it doesn't work out an easy step back down a level to rebuild after a few seasons. There nae guarantees anywhere in fitba so players are always gonna take the money and hope they get the rub of the green at the right time and make a success of whatever bigger money moves comes along.
-
Sutton edged out Murphy and Jennings for me. No one was a total liability today and largely solid performances all round.
-
U Possibly nick picking but it was having them as a pair that makes the difference not just one or the other and Lasley made 2 or 3 intelligent incisive passes today and does so in general for my money.
-
Unfortunatly maybe barring a few decent games early on you have have just about exhaustively listed every ball he has kicked for us. Think of a stand out performance this season?
-
Their should be the following proposal on the table, a guaranteed equal split of TV money. A return to splitting gate receipts 50/50(after costs) and the one aspect which is maybe more debateable an 18 team top division and a single 24 team 2nd division. Everyone plays each other once home and away and if you want to get creative you could have play offs for if the coefficient allows the 2nd champions league spot another euefa cup spot as well as play offs for coming up or going down. Plenty reasons to keep most teams matches meaningful, less pressure on most teams for going down, a more level financial playing field and not having to watch the same old teams quite so often. Can't see the old firm going for it, but if rest of the teams had any balls they;'d say take it or leave it and the wider game would be healthier even if the old firm couldn't just chuck money at it to win the league every year. lets face it even with the above measures they'd always still have the means for making more than the rest.

I'll willingly concede that losing to this shite at all is bad but since they been back up we've won 4, lost 3 and drew 2 so our record isn't that bad against them.
