  1. Fear the worst if we are missing Lasley and Ramsdan and Armstrong, Gauld and GMS are running at us. Attack will be the best form of defence. Could do with Ainsworth pinning back Robertson who's had the freedom of the left wing in the last 2 encounters.
  2. Thistle fans must have been spewing when Higginbotham was substituted, we couldn't handle him. McFadden our motm by a distance. Fantastic assist for Ainsworth's goal and dragged us to the win when the going got tough. Good to see him last the 90 mins.
  3. McCall warned us yesterday that today was going to be a struggle today and it proved to be the case. Carswell, McManus and Vigurs doing well to get through the game while not being fully fit. McFadden practically dragged us to the win. Exciting conclusion and a big 3 points but we'll need to step it up a fair bit to get a result at Tannadice.
  4. Assumed this will be off and headed in to work for overtime. Sat 8th March will do nicely.
  5. Carswell done a job at right back at Firhill and I think we can get away with Vigurs playing in the middle against Thistle. Repeat performance from December would go down a treat. With Taylor and Buaben though, they'll have a wee bit more about them.
  6. Biggest downer after a game remains the Corrigan pass back semi.
  7. Tynecastle for the Scottish Cup after O'Donnell died. Probably the biggest travelling support I've been involved in outwith semis/finals. Such an emotionally charged atmosphere that will never be forgotten. We've been blessed with some outstanding performances since 2007 but a league cup trouncing of Hibs at Easter Road under McGhee really broke the mould. We destroyed them that night with a calibre of free flowing football that was new to us and went on to have a cracking few months. Ross McCormack was outstanding in both games.
  8. Midweek League Cup trip to Forfar where we lost on pens is the worst in recent memory. Brutal peformance, cold weather, shite supporters bus and ended up being ill with the flu. Can't believe that was 10 years ago.
  9. If there is a bit if financial bother on the horizon, I'd expect Directors to be investing money into the day to day running as opposed to financing moves for Anier and McFadden. Although, as a fan in the here and now, it's obviously nice to see us speculate to accumulate. Looks like the pitch is going to cost us a few quid in the summer again.
  10. Fond of a Free Perry polo but no Bradley Wiggins inspired stuff. Daft sleeves.
  11. If funds were so tight would directors be paying for McFadden and Anier?
  12. Lawson really needs a run in the team if he's going to be any use to us. He tends to struggle to get up to the speed with the game, not easy to do when you're teammates have been embroiled in a high tempo battle for an hour. Keeper had to be there though to nullify such lapses in concentration from outfield players. Neilson done the exact same thing at Tynecastle.
  13. Vigurs was badly struggling in a team that didn't play to his strengths. If an 'international keeper' is toiling for confidence behind 2 of the best centre halves in the league, then his ability comes under serious scrutiny.
  14. I don't get the comparison with Vigurs either. Regarding the young keeper, from what I've heard he is nowhere near ready for the step up. Few keepers are at his age. Marshall's coaching career doesn't exactly cover itself in glory given the spell be had at Easter Road but I very much doubt he recommended Neilson. Given that Neilson had a previously spell at the club you'd expect that a longer standing member at the club thought he was worth a shot. If Hollis in injured for a while, surely the Insurance money would square up the wage for an interim replacement?
  15. Desperate acquisition that has made little improvement since his shaky debut at Morecambe. The fact that McManus and Hutch are more confident with Hollis behind them says it all really. We'll need to take the hit and punt him in the summer. Fingers crossed we can get an adequate replacement this month.
  16. Ainsworth looks to have been signed on the basis that given what he offers in the final third, the team will accommodate his inability to track back. While we miss the work ethic of Humphrey, it's a fair compromise of sorts at our level if he continues to create goals. ZFA on the other hand, is he slower than he looks? He's racked up a number of assists this season but he doesn't seem to be developing much of an understanding when it comes to positional sense and reading of the game.
  17. Usual suspects ran themselves into the ground but McManus managed a potent attack very well and got us off to a flier in the 2nd half with a fine header.
  18. Aye he came off the bench after Lethernan got sent off. Pretty much rules out any slight chance we had of getting him this month.
  19. That was a good old fashioned game that got the juices flowing and nerves jangling. I thought we battled like fuck against a team that is superior to us. We scored good goals at good times and adopted a really streetwise approach go the game. Players ran themselves into the ground. Gutted to lose the almost inevitable equaliser but I'd have taken a point before the game given we were missing Ramsden and the recently improved Vigurs. Doubt the keeper will be able to look in the eyes of his team mates tonight. Absolute bombscare that the players and fans understandably have no confidence in.
  20. Richard Gordon on Off the Ball, game in serious doubt.
  21. He's certainly nowhere near the level of Twardzik. Despite his diminutive figure, he carries far more presence than Hollis/Neilson and instantly built up an understanding with his defence, something that Hollis/Neilson have yet to manage. I generally like a keeper to command his box but he's done enough to get a chance between now and end of season. Regarding Kello, I was surprised to see St Mirren hang on to him. One of the best keepers in the league.
  22. Whatever the standard, it's a new experience for him. Unless you're looking to settle with your family in Scotland, 4 years in the SPL is more than enough when you've yet to reach your peak. Good luck to him.
  23. Not worked out for Rooney down South but if he's still the player that impressed at Inverness, he's a 20 goal a season man. Very good signing by Aberdeen.
  24. Keen to have Twardzik back at Fir Park but ideally until the end of the season, with a view to sussing out whether he is ready to be a competent first choice at our level. Will be interesting to hear McCalls views at the press conference.
  25. Thing is Celtic are quite happy to see a non-existent away support. Real shame that majority of diehard travelling fans across Scotland have been driven to the decision to avoid seeing their team at Parkhead.
