Lot of folk getting their excuses in pre-game for us losing this one. Lol.

Richard Tait by a country mile. IMO not just the best 'Well footballer yesterday but the best footballer, period. Always gives 100%. Back to his best position at right back (admittedly through circumstances) and always looked better playing there in a back 4 on the very few occasions we have played with that formation. Why is he not the club captain?

2018’19 Game 19:St Mirren (H) Saturday 22nd December 2018
El Grew replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Not a knee-jerk reaction and I don't give a rat's arse who it upsets but Motherwell need to get rid of this manager as soon as possible. Started a home game with 6 defenders against a team that's only scored 6 goals in 8 away games. F*cking disgrace. -
2018’19 Game 9: St Johnstone (H) Saturday 20th October 2018

We said that about Accies, Livi and todays opponents. We play Aberdeen and Rangers after we play St Mirren and Dundee. Problem for board will be who to replace Robinson with. -
2018’19 Game 9: St Johnstone (H) Saturday 20th October 2018

Another desperate performance and against a team that we should be beating at home. Sick tired watching us just kick and chase. We've now played Hamilton, Livingston and St.Johnstone at home and only got 1 point from 9. Sorry but for me its now time up for Robinson. Board needs to act quickly and decisively if this is to be turned round. -
Terrific never-say-die performance yesterday. Reminiscent of 'Well sides from years back. I thought the key player for us was Gael Bigirimana. He gives us a whole new dimension and his free-kick and corner kick deliveries were top class. The media ranted about Rangers poor defending at our 2nd and 3rd goals but gave no credit for the deliveries from Bigirimana which were both whipped in at good pace and into fantastic areas that ask serious questions of defenders. Main and Johnson must be salivating at the thought of more of the same. I still think we need to ditch 3 at the back and move to a 4-4-2. Yesterday it might have countered Rangers getting their wide players into the game. Gerard has played 4-4-2 in all of his games up until yesterday and the changes to a 3-5-2 and bang he loses 3 goals.

I know if big money offers come in we are always going to cash in and that players, if ambitious will move on. However selling one of our better players before our first league game really is shite. It doesn't give the manager much chance. Makes you wonder why guys like Robinson stay in Scottish football but then I suppose its a job.
-
Yes just like every club in Scotland we are a selling club, but, English football is awash with money and £1M is small beer to them so are we being dazzled or should I say diddled. If we do sell Kipre, as seems likely now, surely we should be asking £1M cash money with add-ons and not £1M including add-ons. We continually under-value our best players and allow them to go for way less than they could.

Not to be mercenary but this must increase the transfer value of Chris Cadden - full international cap.
-
No Andy P. There was an official photo of the team, manager and directors taken in 1952.

Does anyone know whether there were any official photographs taken with team with the cup in 1991 similar to those of 1952?

Scottish Cup Final v Celtic (Hampden) 19/05/18 15:00
El Grew replied to something else's topic in Club Chat
Just recovering from yesterday. And what a great day it was. I thought we were in for a bad day after the first 10 minutes but after the first goal went in, it settled us down and when the second went in a few minutes later there was only going to be one winner - us. We have certainly had better football playing teams than the present one BUT we have never had one with more drive, heart and will to win. Everyone played their part and our real strength is the way the players all play, work and battle for each other - our whole is better than the sum of our parts. Been supporting the Dossers for a very long time now with many, many heartaches but I never in my wildest dreams thought we would be in our two national cup finals in one season. What an achievement. Everyone at the club is to be applauded, from the manager downwards for lifting the club up again after the past couple of seasons. Win or lose in the final I'll still be proud to be a 'Well fan. -
Went for Curtis Main but as others have said no failures only heroes. I know some fans are not sold on Rose and Grimshaw but you need players in the side who do the grafting and breaking-up of the opposition play before it develops and yesterday these two were immense in that respect.

Scottish Premiership Game 28: Dundee (A) 24/02/18 15:00

You called that right Milo. Don't really know we took him onboard. Not at Dens today but saw him last Saturday against Killie and he was absolute dross. Bowman far better player and much more mobile. IMO get rid of Cifti asap. -
Scottish Premiership Game 27: Kilmarnock (H) 17/02/18 15:00
El Grew replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
A daisy-cutter from 22 yards separated two piss poor teams in the first half. We were certainly the better team in the second half but as others have said, we could've played until next Saturday and not scored. Just do not understand or agree with Robinson's infatuation with 3-5-2. We just do not look a balanced side and IMO we've not got the players to play that way. We should revert to 4-4-2 because our four best performances this season came when we played that system - Aberdeen, Rangers and Celtic in League Cup and Aberdeen away in the league. For me, our poorest performers today were McHugh (not a midfielder for me), Rose, Cifti and Frear. Cifti was lazy and more a hindrance and as a result Main was nullified and Kilmarnock's back 4 just coasted along. However when Bowman came on with 20 minutes left the transformation was immediate and terrific. Suddenly the Kilmarnock back 4 didn't know whether their a*ses were tapped or bored as Bowman pulled them all over the place and Main found more time and space to play in than he'd had all afternoon, and was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. I thought Tait, Aldred, Dunne, Tanner, Main and Bowman were our best performers today. -
Scottish Cup Final v Celtic (Hampden) 19/05/18 15:00

Hearts have only won twice at FP in their history. One was the previously mentioned "John Gardiner Cup Replay" (still sends shivers through me -
Hearts a dirty team? Surely not!!??
-
Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Congratulations to young Jamie Semple whose first half goal sealed a 1-0 win for the Scotland Under-17 team against Poland in their international challenge match in Marbella. Great to see young guys doing well, particularly if they play for us.

Scottish Premiership Game 25: Partick Thistle (H) 03/02/18 15:00
El Grew replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
I just can't fathom Robinson's infatuation with the 3-5-2 formation. We simply do not have the players to play that system. We should go back to playing 4-4-2. On the few occasions that he has dabbled with it this season (against Celtic twice and Rangers and Aberdeen in League Cup) we have looked a really decent team and posed the opposition real problems. Play with orthodox right-back, left-back and two centre-backs. Carson Tait, Dunne/Hendrie, Hartley, Aldred. Cadden, Kipre, Bigirimana, Campbell. Main, Cifti. -
Seen them all playing for us down the years and for me, Joe Wark was by far the best left-back I ever saw at Fir Park.

Scottish Premiership Game 25: Partick Thistle (H) 03/02/18 15:00

As somebody posted above we are absolutely dire to watch. Having watched Cooper, Russell, Davidson et al I find it really painful watching this current lot. When were behind against Partick Robinson brought Bigirimana on and he bossed the rest of the game and might have won and the same thing happened against Hibs in midweek. Why can't we start with creative players instead of waiting until the game is beyond us. Carl McHugh is not a midfield player as he is far too slow to play there. He should be playing in the back 4 where he was when he first came to us and was a standout. -
Kudos to our head groundsman and his staff for the presentation of what must be about the best playing surface in Britain. Gone are the dark days of "Somme-like" conditions of a few seasons ago and yesterday the pitch looked like a start of the season pitch. In all the years thatI've been going to FP I've never seen the pitch as good as it is right now. Well done guys.

Robinson said after the game: "If you haven't won in a while it does put doubts in your mind. We've suffered from injuries and we've had to change our style of play slightly, put more perceived ball players into the team, but we know we have to get back to what we were doing and getting back into the shape that we played before and we'll do that over the break." What a load of sh*te. More perceived ball players? Like who? We have looked like a team of hammer throwers from the outset of the season and not much different to the last 6 games of last season. He has now been found out as a one trick pony as the rest of the SPFL have wised up to him. We are crying out for a couple of creative players in the midfield who can pass and control the play. Crosses in the box? Aye but do we ever get behind defences and cross? No. Just sling aimless balls into the box from deep positions - Neanderthal football and easy to defend against. Sorry but the countdown clock is ticking for him. If we don't win our first two games after the break (Accies in the cup and Ross County in the league) then he should be ditched pdq.

Gutted but really proud of our boys today. They fought like tigers right to the last whistle - witnessed by the last kick of the game being big Louis's strike against their post. We might well have lost without the penalty but at only 1-0 and with 11 men we were still in the game. I feel for big Cedric but everyone should rally round him now. Have made my feelings on Craig Thomson before and I can only wonder why he is still being allowed to officiate at all.

How sweet this was. Like a few other posters I have been supporting the 'Well for many, many years - since my dad took me to my first game and curiously enough it was against Rangers at FP in Charlie Aitken (Legend) testimonial game. Up until today I'd never seen us beat Rangers in any cup competition and have suffered many a sore heart against them. The very worst definitely being the semi-final of the Scottish Cup in 1976 when they cheated their way to a win. I cried just about all the way home that night and if I'm being honest I've never gotten it out of my system. However the team today did us all proud today and gladdened my old heart to finally beat this lot in a cup match. It doesn't totally take all that pain away but hell it certainly was sweet. I've seen better footballing 'Well teams in the past but the present guys are certainly one of the most gutsy we've ever had. They showed tremendous belief and desire today - something that we haven't always had against this mob in the past - and in the end were worthy winners. Thanks guys you made a long suffering fan very happy today.
