  1. Oh I get that. Its usually announced as "A minimum of X minutes". However, its quite unusual for a referee to add any further extra time. Once the minutes have been announced, we've seen injuries, subs, goals, VAR, time wasting but very rarely amendments to additional time.
  2. Similar to me although I'm retired. Football is ridiculously expensive but so are other forms of entertainment. The cost of musical gigs and other such events has rocketed. Each to their own, but value for money isn't a factor for me. The bottom line as Stuwell2 says is that a renewal helps the club.
  3. Yes poor defending. Tom Sparrow was caught out with a ball over the top. Kirk was completely unmarked and allowed to pick his spot. A great keeper to striker goal and possibly winner of Saints' goal of the season. Balcombe looked a little culpable for their second
  4. https://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/sport/football/falkirk-reveal-dispute-resolution-process-likely-as-they-gear-up-to-challenge-senseless-spfl-premiership-artificial-pitch-ban-5026678 (Falkirk Herald) Falkirk are challenging the SPFL's decision, which was based on a democratic vote, to ban plastic pitches in the Premiership from the 2026-27 season. They know what the rules are, and have done for some time, so why can't they just adhere to them? Here we go again. Some other clubs, with a vested interest, including Livingston, Airdrie, Raith and Hamilton have held discusions about this.
  5. A crucial win yesterday and the result, not the perfomance, was the only thing that mattered. I thought that Johnny K, Watt and Slattery were the pick of the bunch. We lost 2 soft goals , but that's par for the course this season. The starting line up looked insipid on paper but it did the business. It was a blow to lose Maswhanise before kick off as this game was tailor made for him. St Johnstone were fired up as we knew they would be and committed 3 fouls before 3 minutes showed on the clock. That theme continued and Steven MacLean's inconsistent awarding of cards was a bit annoying. He also found an additional minute to add onto the additional 5 minutes at the end. Not often we see that. The final 25 minutes or so were torture to watch as we retreated under an onslaught, largely toothless it has to be said. One mildly amusing facet of the game (I can say that in hindsight as we won) was the introduction of Uche Ikpeazu. There was a murmur of anticipation, even amongst Well fans, when he rumbled onto the pitch. I was expecting him to appear a bit earlier, but as he's only played 15 minutes this season, it wasn't surprising. He caused chaos in our defence frequently requiring the attention of 3 defenders. Although not especially talented, or effective, his imposing physique caused us problems. He dwarfed Dan Casey and swatted him aside like an annnoying fly. Hopefully he'll cause more chaos for opponents in St Johnstone's remaining 4 fixtures. Onwards and upwards. Time to renew my season ticket.
  6. With only 4 games to go too! When Kettlewell left some fans were saying it was too late in the season to change managers!
  7. Essentially what he's saying is you can't make a similar challenge i.e. foot off the ground in case an opponent comes in fractionally later and from the side. Utterly absurd.
  8. We really do lack a defensive destroyer type in there. Davor is just that type of player but unfortunately is too lightweight.
  9. The problem is that I don't think we have the midfielders to play in a 4-4-2 , or similar, formation.
  10. Apparently Liam Gordon has again been ruled out.
  11. A touchy subject for some but its the right decision. It brings us into line with other clubs and organisations not to mention state pension age rises. For those aged 60 or over and already receiving an age concession its a fair approach. The transition period will work its way out.
  12. Season tickets now on sale. Not surprisingly involving price increases, especially for some concessions. Quite a few alterations to age categories. Glad to see the Under 13 regulation has now been changed to Under 12. Age 60 concession threshold now upped to 65 - seems reasonable. New pricing category 18-21. New Under 5 free category.
  13. Kofi Balmer is listed as injured for Saturday. No word yet on Liam Gordon. Steve Seddon back in full training (but not fit). St Johnstone might be short at the back but we're little better.
  14. He's hoping to find a club in the Premiership. If he's done that well at Tannadice why are they letting him go?
  15. Its encouraging to see our club has been awarded just over £303,000 for the period 2020-24. Its the 4th highest payout in the Premiership and relates to compensation for the release of players for international competitions. Full details here. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-united/5227364/dundee-united-st-johnstone-dunfermline-uefa-payout/
  16. They'll likely line up with 2 banks of 4 to prevent us from getting anywhere near their defence and hope that we resort to firing up high balls to Watt/Armstrong and Maswhanise.
  17. Its exactly the same in England and in Europe. Just look at the physical change in Faddy when he joined Everton.
  18. No. Striker. Your chance to get battered by 2, maybe 3 leviathans a week today.

The SPFL's the 18/20 split reasoning is a black box and seemingly justified subjectively and randomly. Reasons given in the past include: Finishing in the wrong half of the table; least impact on the relegation fight; and now to rectify a previous imbalance. We were disadvantaged in 2009/10, but benefitted in 2017/18 and so in overall balance. The reason given this time was to rectify our "advantage" in 2017/18. It seems we were chosen this time because we would have least impact on the relegation fight (what about Hearts?), but also because it would result in the least number of fixture reversals. No guarantee then that we won't be fingered again. What a load of codswallop from the SPFL.
  20. I'd have Seddon in my team but just how match fit will he be, given the length of his absence?

They have already complained to the SPFL regarding the use of artificial pitches. They don't want to have to rip theirs up and lay a grass one. Deja vu!
  22. Not hopeful on this occasion. It'll be a real battle and we're not suited to that kind of game. I have it down as an away win. 3 points would certainly steady our ship though.

Not quite sure why we're suggesting playing Slattery in an advanced role. It didn't work on Saturday although he put in a huge effort. He's a box to box player.

I can envisage us picking up a draw or maybe two at home but nothing from the away games, going on recent form. St Johnstone will be really fired up while they still have a fighting chance in the first game. Killie have our number although their away form is not great Tynecastle is a hard ground to pick up points. We have taken a mere point from Ross County in 3 games and Dundee have beaten us twice. Obviously a win against St Johnstone or Kilmarnock will settle our nerves but it won't be easy.
