Well that goal has given us some hope.
-
It looks as though we could play all day without the keeper having a real save to make.

No more than we deserve to be honest. Queens look to be well ahead of us in terms of pre season preparation. We're pedestrian and well off the pace. Defence is shambolic. They're quite content to let us make the mistakes and pick us off. Unless we improve dramatically then this could be embarassing.

We were warned. Needless foul by Lamie.
-
Also very exposed down our left flank.
-
QoS better organised defence than ours. We're lacking creativity and pace.

Just lost the stream

From his write up he appears to be a young work in progress.

I'm sure you're right. However questions need to be asked of the guidance if different local authorities differ in their decisions regarding very similar situations.
-
A lot is open to interpretation and Government guidance needs to be stronger and clearer to ensure consistency.

Is there provision for those not going in person tomorrow to buy a one off TV matchday ticket? I can't seem to find any relevant link. I can only find a link to an annual or monthly package, which I don't want.

Fair comment. Despite what the authorities say publicly, many bigger teams are treating the group stages of the League Cup as pre season warm up games. This was discussed on this very board 5 or so years ago. Traditionally the smaller teams have started off fitter or at least look fitter due to being better motivated (their cup final and all that). We are a few players short in midfield and defence and they'll be brought in - the exact timing though might be an issue. Add to that injury and illness - Grimshaw, McGinley, O'Hara, Mugabi, Shields, plus a not fit Donnelly. So, all in all we shouldn't be panicking. In recent times, the midfield has been an issue and this was evident again last night. Irrespective on the individuals, the combination of types of players, maybe wasn't ideal. Add to that tactical instructions from the manager and the fact that QP outnumbered us in midfield and you can see why we struggled.

Thats it for me. Maybe the line up didn't suit our makeshift midfield and the defence definitely needs attention. Good to see Dean Cornelius start but, as a young lad making his first start he was entitled to expect more support from more expereinced pros around him. Maybe we missed McGinley too? Yes we require reinforcements, which will hopefully be incoming shortly. Bottom line though is we won, more gametime in legs and Donnelly is on the way back.
-
That's very true. However Queens Park will also be very rusty, although they look the better side.
-
Yes. Irrespective of what any government says, folk will make their own minds up. Many have already stopped wearing face masks if indeed they ever started.
-
Not quite. A modified zero, whatever that means. Hopefully, permitted maxima will be increased. Great for fans to be back.
-
The 2,000 limit only applies from Monday. For Saturday's game the max is 1,000.
-
Certainly with Grimshaw and Mugabi still out and Donnelly still building up we are a bit short in central defence and midfield.
-
Yes, we still need a creative midfielder and 1/2 central defenders (one experienced player). The line up suggests 2 central defenders playing as trialists. Good to see Liam Donnelly back in action.
-
If his signing is confirmed, I would expect that he'll be seen as a young player with potential, but who knows. To me, we still need an experienced replacement for Gallagher.

I agree Allan. I have no inside knowledge at all, but there must surely be doubts about Trevor Carson's fitness. Given that Liam Kelly is a proven performer it was only right that we moved for him. Not at all surprised that Trevor moved on, just surprised that it was to Dundee United.
-
You might be right, who knows. Its interesting though that, with his injury/illness problems, United were prepared to offer him a good deal, with the chance of first team football whereas we preferred to bring in a new number one. if Siegrist does move on, they'll be looking for another pretty good stopper.
-
Good to see that the scheme has attracted some positive publicity, outwith the football fraternity.
-
Agree up to a point, but I think any notion that he may have of being the automatic first pick will have been dispelled and quickly at that. Trevor has had a helluva of a time and he deserves a bit of good luck. We don't know what his injury outlook is and it maybe that our new management team doesn't want to take risks for this important position. I did think that he was headed down south for family reasons but I suspect that, understandably at this stage in his career, money talks and he'll be on a decent salary at Tannadice, more than we can afford. He will also have a chance, no more, of playing first team football. This move though has taken me by surprise and I'm struggling to understand it. Based on a few rumours and speculation, nothing more concrete than that, I'm thinking that Liam Kelly was United's first target. Its no secret that they were in the market for a keeper to challenge Benjamin Siegrist for the No 1 spot; that much is on record. We can't match United for wages. Maybe Kelly was sounded out but, although the wages on offer were extremely attractive, he wasn't guaranteed a starting spot and didn't fancy sitting on the bench. As I say pure speculation on my part in attempt to make sense of this move. I've read various articles and interestingly, none mention any money changing hands. I doubt that we'd be difficult deal with but he does have a year left on his contract. If it was the other way round, United would want a fee. However we have a reputation of looking after players and it may be that United have played on our generosity to the player to land him for nought. Whatever the case, I wish him all the best. He's had rotten luck and I hope that is now firmly behind him.
