  1. We don't know the nature of the working relationship under Robbo. He may have actively encouraged input from Las and Mo or he may have been very autocratic. We just need to look back to the Butcher/Malpas era. Many of us thought that Malpas was the brains behind the management team with big Terry assuming the army corporal role. In fact it was the other way around. What we do know though is that more of the same won't do today. We're looking for signs of changes to the personnel; changes to players' attitudes; changes to formation; and changes to tactics. That will give us some sort of clue as to Las's ideas. For several reasons its a must win game. Win and Las's stock will rise; lose his managerial prospects will nosedive.
  2. Even if the story of the 4 game test is true, surely the Board will be pursuing other options Iain, as an insurance policy.
  3. Not quite Goggles but almost. If we fail to win tomorrow, arguably the easiest of the next 4 games, that'll be a severe dent to his hopes in the eyes of the Board, if what we've read in the media is correct.
  4. They might be , I've no idea, but I can't see them paying up now or in the summer for Campbell. They'd need to shell out £400-500K for him in any event.
  5. Lang has departed; Archer has left; O'Donnell is contracted until the end of the month (source P & B); don't know about Hastie.
  6. Not sure about the wisdom of this. I might be proved wrong but I think we need a fresh approach. Not the easiest 4 games in which to prove yourself. That said our big failing has been at home and we only have one home game in that run.......against Sevco.
  7. It'll be interesting to see if the caretaker management team do anything differently and also if the players react positively. Who will be our back up goalie?
  8. Was thinking the same thing. The only bright side to this is that he played on for a spell and then walked off. Fingers crossed its not serious. He's been through enough.
  9. At our level, a lower/middle ranking Premiership club, we are never going to be successful by playing open sexy football. We simply cannot go toe to toe with the league’s top sides. If we want any measure of success on the field, it will have to be founded on character, physicality, hard work, organisation and tactics. We can look back to the likes of Tommy & Jim MacLean. Teams founded mainly on being hard to beat but absolutely dire to watch. What talent we have will come through the youth system. In our current predicament and in the short term we need to steady the ship by whatever means necessary. Make sure the good ship Fir Park remains in the Premiership. Then longer term develop our youth system to feed sales, as we have been doing successfully for a few years now. For me, until the end of the season we need to build from the back and make us hard to beat. Forget about playing attractive football. Excitement doesn't equal points on the board. These factors should shape our search for a new manager. Maurice Ross and Keith Lasley will hit the ground running as they know the club and players, if they are appointed, but what role have they played in the team’s demise this season? We just don't know. The club will probably take a different line as it has done in the past. Interesting times.
  10. I think its now time for both him and the club for him to move on. For whatever reason he just doesn't seem interested just now. That said others also look disinterested too.
  11. Well thats been the worst yet. Its small consolation that we didn't concede any more. Its hard enough to stomach a continually leaky defence, pedestrian midfield and toothless strikeforce but the lack of fighting spirit and character in the side is the most concerning aspect. Even a normally committed player like Allan Campbell seems to have lost his energy and determination. On tonight's evidence, O'Hara won't be missed in the next game or two. Hopefully, Trevor Carson's injury isn't too bad. Where do we go from here?
  12. Right side has been as bad as left. Edit: now just lost another goal and O'Hara red carded. Why can't we just get beat? Damage limitation now and we should concentrate on our goal difference. .
  13. If it isn't, we'll need to come from behind for the first time this season to rescue a point.
  14. Not just our attack; the defence and midfield have been poor. Were it not for them we'd be on level terms.
  15. Similar to many games/defeats this season. A bit of pressure but very toothless; slow predictable build up; leaky defence; and a team with clinical finishing. We've seen this movie all too often before. Watt needs to play more centrally. Looks as though we could play for 12 months and not score.
  16. Good post Andy. He is a squad player no more no less. But he can play in midfield. One glaring weakness of our set up has been the full backs have been horrendously exposed with a lack of midfield cover. In the absence of decent wingers he could provide protection on one side or another. He also brings drive, commitment and abrasiveness to the central midfield; qualities that have been lacking badly in recent weeks, as Allan Campbell has gone off the boil.
  17. I think he could do a job somewhere in midfield.
  18. Same set up but Cole to replace Lang, unless the former isn't fully fit. It would be great to see Jake Caroll get a few minutes, if the course of the game allows.
  19. Although its hard to take the loss of a 93rd minute goal and consequent loss of 2 points, I'm relieved that United only scored in the 93rd minute and not the 83rd minute. If they had done we might well be looking at the loss of yet another point.
  20. Exactly Goggles. Timescales should have been far tighter and tables unaltered until the final, final outcome. Another shambles.
  21. You have to question Bobby Madden's motives when he penalised Trevor Carson for taking too long, with the ball in our box. It must be many years since I've seen that particular infringement punished. Why on earth now? Will his supervisor question him about it? We should certainly ask the SFA for clarification if this particular infringement is still being punished. Out of all the thousands of football matches that have taken place you have to ask why a referee would suddenly and randomly single out this incident. Its similar, but for worse than random punishments for foul throws which we see week in week out, but are not punished.
