  1. Given the plethora of midfielders on our books, I'm expecting one or two to leave before the window closes. There may be interest in Cadden & Campbell and I'm not sure where Frear fits in now. Our new signing may put Bigi or McHugh under pressure. Davie Turnbull may go out on a development loan.
  2. I don't think he is similar in style to the midfielders we already have Greg. He's more of an all rounder who can combine aggression, tackling, good passing, and ball retention. Captain Oats summed up his apparent skills well on Pie & Bovril. He's more of a combination of what we already have, rolled into one player. He seems comfortable on the ball and able to create openings. Almost all of our current midfielders are one dimensional with the possible exception of Allan Campbell. If he turns out well it will strengthen our midfield and add a bit of much needed creativity.
  3. Apologies, I misread your post, although it was a wee bit contradictory. Yes, its stronger but I'd argue also better in terms of quality, although only time will tell about that.
  4. Some more midfielders may yet leave either by being transferred or through loans. I don't get the negativity about our new players. Th may well be an upgrade in quality we just don't know yet. Of those who have left the only one I'm half sorry to see leave is Ciftci and even then I'm by no means sure. Are you really saying that Griffiths, Plummer, Hendrie, and Petravicius are better than those we've brought in? Aldred may be but time will tell. Give the new lads a chance.
  5. I don't gamble myself but we all know that many many of our fans and indeed members of this site love to do so and presumably they will be especially pleased. A good deal for the club so as FirparkCornerexile says well done.
  6. Pleased with our business so far. Taylor-Sinclair looks a good signing on paper at least. Its good too to get in fresh faces early so they can get a full pre season and hit the ground running when competitive football kicks off. Given that our business hasn't finished yet its turning into slightly more than fine tuning although the turnover of personnel won't be on the same scale as last season. Having signed players of 6-3,6-2 and 5-11 we're turning into a real team of thugs and hatchet men aren't we?
  7. Good post which reflects the reality of signings. In some cases there can be a time lag of a week or two.
  8. Dundee are also sniffing around Crawford.
  9. As others have said its a bit ambiguous. However given his other comments I'll plump for a player who is known to us or is well known in the game ie a player of status as opposed to physically big. That said he could be both.
  10. Does anyone know why there's no fixtures on 18 August (a mere 3 Saturdays into the season), 8 September, 14 October and 17 November? Very much a stop start programme. International breaks??
  11. What kind of striker is he? Poacher, physical, pacy?
  12. I don't know that we another Campbell type of player, Greg. Initially he came across as a defensive midfield destroyer similar maybe in style to McHugh or perhaps Grimshaw but as the season wore on he added an attacking threat to his game. We don't have any other player who can do a similar job.
  13. No surprise whatsoever. Perhaps now we can put these potential signings behind us and move on to more realistic targets.
  14. Career wise I wonder where he's going. He spent a fair few months at Airdrie last season and I assumed that he be brought back this season. However if thats him going out on loan already I wonder if he has a future with us.
  15. That is my reaction too, not unless we intend to remove the concrete steps too?
  16. On the basis of last season's performances and Robbo's comments, we're obviously looking to sign a creative midfielder and I reckon at least one midfielder will depart, so no real surprises. Full marks to the club for being ambitious but I never really reckoned O'Halloran was a goer and I think the same about Crawford. Although he hints that uncertainty is getting to him the ball is in his court. I can see him dragging things out until August to find out if an English club approaches him, but time will tell.
  17. A traditional shirt with claret band on amber and white shorts please.
  18. Surprised by the Murray rumour. Yes, he's pacy but thats about all. I guess if he's played for Hibs that worth a few thousand in itself. Hopefully this is going nowhere.
  19. I read earlier that Accies are investing £750k in a new 3G pitch. Don't know how they can afford that as just a few months ago they reportedly lost £800K in an online scam and the club was in dire financial straits. It just doesn't tie up. Their very articulate Chairman Les Gray said just a year or two back that their pitch was first class and would stand comparison with any in Scotland. If that is the case why rip it up?
  20. I could live with that .................as an Accies top.
  21. I had the same thought Dave. Were players comparing like with like? How many pros played on every single senior clubs pitches?
  22. Clyde game will be on BT Sport. A wee bit of cash into our kitty. An odd choice though.
  23. The top ranked pitch in Scotland is at Stirling - is that not artificial?
