  1. I had to make do with watching the game on Alba last night. Its a victory that we ground out against, dare I say it, a very physical Dundee side who were happy to mix it with us. Tanner took his goal well, and it gave a few fringe players a chance to stake their claim. We were always going to tire in the second half and so it proved. A few of the fringe players hadn't played a full 90 minutes for some time and those who played on Sunday looked a bit drained. Dundee's disallowed goal - TV wasn't conclusive but Hartley definitely claimed for a foul. We also had a good penalty shout rejected when Tait was clearly pushed in the back. Does anyone know why Cadden was yellow carded? Was it for knocking the ball away? Anyway happy with the 3 points and it keeps our good run going. What a change from recent seasons.
  2. Yes, but only once expenses are deducted. Generally speaking a team will end up with one third of the gate. I'm not sure if expenses include VAT though. Assuming a paying crowd of 48,000 and an average ticket price of £25 the VAT bill will amount to about £250k. Thats a fair sum. We'll receive £115,000 in sponsorship (£250,000 if we win); £32,500 for TV cash; gate money of about £400K; and a share of programme/catering sales. We'll also have hospitality income. As you say a nice little money spinner. Players and management of course will rightly be entitled to their bonuses.
  3. On top of that there's the incident in the first half on the touch line where Morelos fouled Hartley. Even from an end on view something clearly took place and Hartley says that Morelos punched him. Our Peter doesn't seem like the kind of guy to go about moaning. There's been no mention of this at all.
  4. From a sporting point of view I find that very surprising. The BBC is a public body and therefore not commercial. Given that, they should be unbiased in their attendance of such press conferences. A very poor show.
  5. For those remaining few of you who do read the likes of Keith Jackson in the Daily Record either in hard copy or online I think its time to reconsider that and stop. The media frenzy, involving newspapers and Radio stations is really quite disturbing and worrying. It seems that objective, factual and unbiased football reporting is beyond most of these outlets. I get it that they are commercial organisations, with the exception of the BBC which is little if any better, but they really have crossed a line in the sand this time. A first class interview by Robbo.
  6. We definitely need to rest a few players for this one but we do have strong and able replacements to bring on. Tanner, Frear, Hammell, Bigi, Fisher and Maybe Plummer could all step in. Robbo will know though which players are toiling and which are motoring.
  7. I can't take such comments seriously from a manager who consistently picks Scott Brown in his teams. Morelos also seems to have escaped attention despite punching Peter Hartley.
  8. Hopefully, Society members will be given equal status to season ticket holders for League Cup Final tickets. In reality I think this would affect only a few as most Society members will be season ticket holders anyway. All that said, I think everyone who wants a ticket will be get one.
  9. A close run thing for me betwen Colin O'Neill's Hampden goal and Jutkewicz's goal against Hibs. Just can't decide.

    Rangers Motm

A toss up between Louis Moult and Trevor Carson for me. I've plumped for Carson though as his steadying presence at the back was crucial to our success.
  11. A great win although by no means a classic. We showed all the necessary qualities to grind out a win this afternoon. I've waited 41 years for that and boy was it sweet. A great tem performance with Louis Moult being the main difference between the teams. The referee was weak and inconsistent and although Bowman should have been red carded so too should Alves and Morelos. Some of Rangers theatrics had to be seen to be believed. I was so chuffed for our fans. Irrespective of how we fare in the final it will be huge financial boost to the club. I reckon from today's gate we're looking at £250k plus hospitality, catering and programme income. Still we should savour today's win as such victories don't come around too often. All credit to the management and players. Not forgetting our support too who backed the team to the hilt.
  12. Yes, and stadium expenses. After that we have there is a fair whack of VAT to be deducted too. My rough calculation would be that we'll make about £200,000 from the gate. Programme sales and catering monies to be added of course.
  13. Thats my point exactly Al. We have to assume that the stewards were passing on official instructions, and what many fans were doing was complying with them. The fault lay with the contradictory instructions not the fans who were simply doing as they were told.
  14. Absolutely Iain. At the point of sale ie Fir Park and on entry to the stadium fans should be told either "sit where you want" as theres' no allocated seats or you must stick to your allocated seat no exceptions. This will be enforced by the stewards. However its the responsibility of the host club to clarify this well in advance. Fortunately, as Clackscat wrote, most of us managed to resolve seating issues in an adult and amicable way but we can't assume that will always be the case.
  15. We didn't ask the steward to escort us to our seats or where our seats were. We were told to sit anywhere. Normally I'm a stickler for sitting in the correct seat but we were instructed to sit anywhere. I was brought up to respect authority and if a steward tells you to do something, within reason, you do it. We were simply following "official" guidance or advice whatever you wish to call it. Either fans should be told sit in their seat or else or they should be told sit anywhere. I can see both points of view, but these incidents were down to stewarding errors. Gordon, I take your point about the turnstiles and this has happened to us before. Now we simply walk to the far away ones.
  16. I don't quite know how it could be arranged but yes, I suspect we're looking at Peter Hartley's position. Of the others, I think we might be speaking to Bowman and Rose and possibly Grimshaw. Louis Moult - who knows?
  17. Accies are a streetwise side and thats been a major factor in their top league survival to date. They approached the game in just the manner many of us expected beforehand. The dive at the penalty was simply ridiculous there's no other word for it. Accies conned Craig Thomson, an experienced ref, for much of the game. MacKinnon does a job for them and we all know what it is. However he threw 2 deliberate elbows yesterday and committed at least 10 fouls that I could see and yet was not even yellow carded. I have to mention the poor stewarding yesterday which caused a completely avoidable altercation or two. Our party presented our tickets to a steward for checking but were told just to go and to sit anywhere, which we did. Just prior to kick off two guys appeared and asked us to move as we were in their seats. We explained what we had been instructed to do but they weren't happy, understandably so. The situation was resolved amicably though when we moved along one seat to accommodate them. All was well that ended well as far as that was concerned. As some of you will have witnessed, one punter turned up very late and demanded his ticketed seat right behind the goal. He then argued with a steward for what seemed like hours before he got his seat. I felt sorry for the fans in the row immediately behind him who no doubt hardly saw a thing for several minutes. No doubt there were more such incidents, which could have have caused totally avoidable trouble. Now I don't know what stewards were told beforehand; maybe our steward just got it wrong, but such things shouldn't happen. But, to finish on a positive note, our team did the business on the park and our big support behaved well off it and backed the team to the hilt. Too often in the past the team has let down a big travelling support but not yesterday.
  18. The pitch totally dominated the game yesterday and it wasn't the place or time for pretty football. It was a day to grind out a result which we are more than capable of doing these days. Accies could have tried to play a better brand of football, but with or without Crawford, they know its not effective on that surface. Peter Hartley for me was MOTM and again Andy Rose showed his worth with tireless running and an important goal. Carson too impressed and is certainly a huge improvement on Samson. I thought that Cadden and Campbell looked jaded but they still gave 100%. Had both been fully fit then it might well have been a more comfortable scoreline for us. Although still remaining competitive in midfield, we did lack that wee edge we normally have and midweek international duty took its toll. I did wonder if Campbell might have made way for say Grimshaw at half time. Cadden looked knackered. The game was scrappy, niggly and tousy with Accies predictably resorting to their simple but usually effective brand of non football. It was a hoot to watch Martin Canning castigating the officials for failing to punish us for time wasting. Craig Thomson again had a poor and inconsistent game and was too easily conned by streetwise players. However some of the dives had to be seen to be believed. I don't know yet how Darian MacKinnon lasted until half time let alone full time. We were sat in front of a smashing old lady and her son and boy did she let her feelings known. Suffice to say that neither Thomson nor MacKinnon will be on her Christmas card list. A real character! Its a good time to be a Well fan and whatever the result we are guaranteed to see the team battle, fight and give 100%. Well done Robbo and Keef.
  19. Happy with this news. Robbo has transformed our club on the field into an outfilt we enjoy watching; one which has shown plenty of spirit and fight. Alan Burrows and Jim McMahon deserve recognition for their part in bringing him to the club.
  20. It feels like we're on top of Monte Rosa right now. Lets hope the Accies defence is as effective as a Swiss chocolate fireguard.
  21. No harm to the lad, but another youngster, like Alan Martin and others before him, who was in too much of a hurry. Ambition is to be commended but some need to learn to walk before they can run.
  22. I think the away stand has a capacity of 2200. So on that basis we've sold 1700 tickets.
  23. Do we know this for a fact or is it only a rumour? No word on our injury list but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we have a fully fit squad.
  24. I can't speak for plastic pitches elsewhere but Accies one is poor. On our last visit there players from both sides found it difficult to control the ball, which very often took completely random bounces leaving players red faced. I've yet to see a team play good football on that pitch.
