  1. No but the clamour for him to leave is understandable given the offence, damage and hurt he has caused to certain parties.
  2. Apologies for being petty, but it sure was. Just to rub salt in their wound Moulty scored both goals - how inconsiderate and selfish of us not to sell him cut price to the Dons in the summer. The media won't say it but I will "Well gain revenge on Aberdeen for league loss at Fir Park". If the "unbiased" BBC pundits consider that the result was down to Aberdeen being very poor then I hope many others think the same. We however, know better. A good win for us at the start of a difficult run of fixtures, and it sets us up nicely for next weekend's final. It seems that Robbo's formation caught Derek McInnes out and this was a game won as much off the park as on it. Good to see Liam Grimshaw step in and play well. He's a player I admire - full of running and aggression. A real team performance though. COYW!
  3. I'm looking for a win here, or at least a draw. We can start worrying about next week, tomorrow.
  4. There's plenty of space but you have to be quick. First come first served and you'll be competing with old soldiers who park there at every game.
  5. My favourite ref. Tiny was huge and had no fears when splitting up brawls. On more than one occasion I saw him throw players to the ground and even grab some troublemakers by the throat. He was scrupulously fair and widely respected for that. He wasn't one to dish out yellow a cards willy nilly. An old fashioned ref.
  6. The club may post them out as they're doing for our group or maybe a member of this site could pick a ticket up for you.
  7. What are the criteria for buying tickets from todat onwards. I note that the Official site simply says photo ID is required. Can anyone turning up buy an unlimited amount of tickets providing they have the necessary ID?
  8. I totally disagree with Project Brave but, as others have said, I'm glad we seem to be in it - nothing yet confirmed. So, tentatively, all credit to the club. It doesn't make geographic sense, with 2 Glasgow teams, 2 Lanarkshire teams, and 2 Edinburgh teams. However, if geography was to be an important criterion then you could have the situation whereby a club makes the elite grade pretty much on geography whilst "better qualified" teams, lose out. If geography was a principal criterion then you'd have 1 club from Ayrshire, 1 from Glasgow, 1 from Lanarkshire, 1 from Edinburgh, 1 from Tayside, 1 from Fife, and 2 from Forth Valley/Aberdeen/Highland. Its all hearsay at the moment but the project qualification criteria raises more questions than answers.
  9. Remember the cash for such items doesn't go to our club.
  10. My view exactly Weeyin and thats why I was one of the few to vote against the proposal. I have no problem in principle but think that 25,000 shares would have been a better limit. However, if the club has more shareholders then I suppose thats a good thing in principle as it broadens the base. If you are both a club shareholder and a Society member then you can only seek to influence the Society's voting decision but as a club shareholder you can vote however you like in your own right.
  11. I asked some of these questions back in late September Iain (you can check back if you're so inclined). A £500K share sale represents about 17.4% of the club's issued shares. It would take the Society's holding down from 74% to 57%. Assuming the maximum number of shares were sold, a 57% holding is a little too low for my liking, but I know there are different views about this. £25k worth of shares would represent less than 1% of the issued shares. There are probably around a handful of parties already with this level of holding. I don't know about very large investors appearing over the horizon in years to come but I hope it doesn't happen. We don't want to go down the route Dundee has done. In terms of Society benefits, there are a range of views, all perfectly valid. For my part, benefits don't really interest me, although I wouldn't say I'd never take advantage of them. There are others who asked the question "Whats in it for me?", and many in between these two opposites. For the most part though, many ordinary fans will just want to own a few shares to have their own personal stake in the club and to be able attend the AGM. Again this is my own personal view.
  12. Sorry for us auld yins whats the "DP" miss? Surely not displaced person or deep penetration?
  13. I should make it clear that I'm answering only as an individual fan and shareholder, and in no way on behalf of the Society. The information is based solely on my personal experience. The answers I've given would apply to any shareholder. Yes, Iain, the Society needs to clarify matters officially.
  14. Yes, they can be transferred or reregistered through the club. They are not listed. £10 has been the going rate for shares for a good number of years so that doesn't represent any sort of change from the long standing norm - I don't know how the valuation was arrived at in the mists of time. In years gone by, many years gone by, they were priced at £25 per unit. They are very very unlikely to ever pay dividends. I've held some for many years and never received a penny or expected to. I know its stating the obvious but they are not an investment in the financial sense.
  15. As a neutral, impartial referee, he should remain detached. Football is a volatile and emotional game and one of the referee's jobs is to calm things down and gain respect. You can imagine the reaction if police, traffic wardens, planners, social workers and the like burst out laughing at clients. I'm not saying referees should remain humourless but there's a time and place for everything.
  16. Absolutely. However, I think we have a big enough squad to mix things up a little and wrongfoot opposition managers, who have sussed our game.
  17. The very frustrating kind of game that we see maybe 4 times a season where nothing goes right and the opposition get all the breaks. After the week we've had we just ran out steam. Hibs deserved their win just although they were very annoying to say the least. Its not often we're outfought and outbattled but we were yesterday. In the first half they harassed and intimidated our midfield. Credit to them though they were good on the break. Thier approach to the match reflected Neil Lennon's attitude win at all cost. The dropped ball on the edge of our box is illustration of that. Petty and petulant behaviour from the likes of Boyle and McGinn. Constantly kicking the ball away for which they should have been punished. I'll bet Alan Campbell is black and blue this morning from the first half battering he suffered from a far bigger and heavier McGinn. We did up things in the second half and Robbo did try to change things but they didn’t come off, although we did improve. It took some time before the other 10 players realised that Sid had come on but when they involve him he looked decent in flashes. Not his kind of game though. I thought that maybe Grimshaw’s energy and aggression would have been useful to combat and abrasive Hib’s engine room. Certainly the second half was an improvement although Hibs looked rarely troubled. A special word about Bobby Madden. He had no major decisions to make apart from Dunne’s chalked off effort, which he got right. However from start to finish he made error after error and allowed Hibs players to get off with murder – kicking the ball away and foul throws. 4 foul throws in the game and one punished at random. He wasn’t the reason for our loss but he certainly didn’t help. Still its been a good week overall and few could have been surprised by yesterday’s reverse.
  18. In principle a good idea but some folk may have contributed on the understanding that any excess monies would go to the Society. Its always a wee bit tricky changing the goalposts afterwards.
  19. Will there be a collection on Saturday?
  20. A bit random to have yellow carded Cadden for kicking the ball away. This sort of thing goes on week in week out with no action taken then suddenly a ref picks on a player at random. Its the same with foul throws. Refs should either pick up on these things consistently or just ignore them.
  21. I had to make do with watching the game on Alba last night. Its a victory that we ground out against, dare I say it, a very physical Dundee side who were happy to mix it with us. Tanner took his goal well, and it gave a few fringe players a chance to stake their claim. We were always going to tire in the second half and so it proved. A few of the fringe players hadn't played a full 90 minutes for some time and those who played on Sunday looked a bit drained. Dundee's disallowed goal - TV wasn't conclusive but Hartley definitely claimed for a foul. We also had a good penalty shout rejected when Tait was clearly pushed in the back. Does anyone know why Cadden was yellow carded? Was it for knocking the ball away? Anyway happy with the 3 points and it keeps our good run going. What a change from recent seasons.
  22. Yes, but only once expenses are deducted. Generally speaking a team will end up with one third of the gate. I'm not sure if expenses include VAT though. Assuming a paying crowd of 48,000 and an average ticket price of £25 the VAT bill will amount to about £250k. Thats a fair sum. We'll receive £115,000 in sponsorship (£250,000 if we win); £32,500 for TV cash; gate money of about £400K; and a share of programme/catering sales. We'll also have hospitality income. As you say a nice little money spinner. Players and management of course will rightly be entitled to their bonuses.
  23. On top of that there's the incident in the first half on the touch line where Morelos fouled Hartley. Even from an end on view something clearly took place and Hartley says that Morelos punched him. Our Peter doesn't seem like the kind of guy to go about moaning. There's been no mention of this at all.
  24. From a sporting point of view I find that very surprising. The BBC is a public body and therefore not commercial. Given that, they should be unbiased in their attendance of such press conferences. A very poor show.
