  1. You've quoted the worst case scenario, which of course could occur. The best case scenario which would be no home cup draws, would represent an increase of £30 or 10.7%. Even if we did have a home cup draw the price may be as low as £15. I suppose we also have to take into account the price rise last year...can't recall offhand what that was if indeed there was one.
  2. I think the club's proposals are reasonable in the circumstances. No complaint from me.
  3. If previous posters' information is correct his suspension will be announced by the SFA tomorrow. If it isn't correct then I assume he's injured or will be fit.
  4. For those who haven't seen it there's an excellent article on Fir Park Corner about our groundsman and his views on the pitch.
  5. A fair summing up. My guess is 5 or 6 points. Its a pity though that we're not playing United in the last game, I'd feel far more confident if we were. In recent years they've been a pretty ruthless lot and have benefitted greatly from weak refereeing.
  6. If you were at the game I have to respect your opinion but 12 corners against 4 is a telling statistic. We're doing well this season but that doesn't mean that we should overlook or conceal our persistent weaknesses. An inability to defend is very worrying and that isn't all down to our defence. Much of it is down to a midfield that cannot defend or shield its back four. If we cannot defend crosses/corners (and we can't) then we should look to defend higher up the park and cut out such threats but we seem to take to the view that if we lose 2 or 3 goals so what we'll score 3 or 4. Some days that may work but today some, not me, might blame our strikers for not scoring enough. Irrespective of where we finish the goalkeeping position and defensive midfield need to be addressed in some shape or form over the summer.
  7. I'm more inclined to blame our midfield and full backs Jim, although I haven't seen the game yet. St Mirren seem to have had so much pressure, so many crosses into our box, so many corners. If we persist in defending so deeply we'll always ship goals. It might be freak efforts, deflections, defensive errors, or refereeing blunders, but they all count. I much prefer to see us defend higher up the park, harrying and closing down players, preventing crosses etc. If the opposition can't get the ball into the box the chances are they won't score. Today it seems that St Mirren were all over us and dominated midfield. If that is indeed the case then we shouldn't be surprised if we got beaten. You have to feel sorry for our central defence - under constant pressure with little or no protection. Maybe our win bonuses simply weren't big enough to motivate the team.
  8. If we play like this after the split, 5th place will be a bonus. Simply not good enough and questions must be asked as to why St Mirren were allowed to put so much pressure on our goal. As long as the ball is in or near our penalty area we'll concede. No point in panicking after one bad result but a pattern is beginning to form - throwing away leads and late goals.
  9. Yes, just as Dodge says. The lowest we can finish is 6th ie top six. I agree that this distribution of cash seems ludicrous but I suppose you could reasonably ask why member clubs don't complain about it.
  10. Yes that's correct. We get paid an instalment for finishing 6th fairly soon (clubs finishing in the lower half get nought). Any balance is then paid after the season finishes. Good to see a mature debate about club finances these days compared to years gone by when some posters constantly asked where the club's cash was going and why we weren't making a fat profit every year. That's said the club is now far more open about this than it used to be.
  11. I agree 100% Iain, but for the TV companies and Police this simply isn't an issue. In this day and age organisational self interest comes first.
  12. I guess the Police and or the TV companies are still working out potential implications for their organisations.
  13. Can't say I like the idea of resetting at all. You could easily have a situation where by some teams qualify fairly early for the top half and them simply switch off as there would be no further incentive to do well pre split. Just think of the top 6 this season. Many games, last night's for example, could be meaningless.
  14. A great result tonight in a crunch game. Well done to Stuart and the team. It was never going to be easy but we've seized the 3 points. Iain Vigurs seems to be hitting a rich vein of form. Scoring against his old team too Who made the first goal? The much maligned Fraser Kerr. Only downside seems to be Craig Reid's injury - hope its not too bad and we can keep Kerr fit. Followed the BBC's text commentary - biased or what? C'mon the Well. Safe journey back home for our travelling fans - they'll have enjoyed it.
  15. Hope you put a stamp on the envelope
  16. No we certainly don't want them both attacking ICT at speed up their left hand side.
  17. Very true. I kinda thought that Fraser Kerr might end up playing wide right midfield if Ainsworth was out. Folk might not like that idea but they're not the manager and don't have to pick the team. However, he is one the fastest players at Fir Park and good in the air at both ends. We'll have a very fast right side. If we didn't pick him who would we have chosen for wide right? Can Craig Moore play there (I've seen him on the left) and how good is his defending? Is Chrissy Cadden ready for the first team? We have to trust Stuart McCall's judgement on this. Our problem defensive wise will be down the left hand side where Steve Hammell isn't the best defender and won't have much cover in front of him or perhaps down the middle.
  18. Just what I've heard from Jambos fans. He's been a big disappointment this season.
  19. You would send your season ticket back over a team selection that you didn't agree with? Should Stuart McCall decide to play someone other than Ainsworth at wide right midfield who would you choose?
  20. Agreed Iain. Should we wish to play someone else wide right midfield then Fraser Kerr is now fit. Not his best position but he's very fast and good in the air.
  21. Bearing in mind that Steve Hammell is 32 and Keith Lasley will be 35 this year, the value and length of contracts offers that the club offers them may reflect their age. Hopefully we should be better placed to make offers once the fixture list is released.
  22. Can't disagree with that, but hopefully Stuart McCall will have learnt something from yesterdays errors. We needed to make some significant changes perhaps 10 minutes into the second half but we are only to allowed to make 3 substitutions and I can understand why he wouldn't want to make all 3 so early. We've suffered from second half slumps in the past couple of games and got off with it but yesterday we met a team able to punish us for errors. Onwards and upwards and hopefully after next weekend we can look back and thank Killie for highlighting the error of our ways, enabling us to put things right.
  23. Ditto. This was a team set up to beat inferior opposition but unfortunately turned out to be anything but inferior. For long spells the central midfield was simply bulldozed with Eremenko given the freedom of Fir Park. We had a reasonable first half and could have been a couple of goals up but the second period was very different. We seemed to think that the game was over at 1-0 and once again defended very deeply and invited a "poor" Killie side to have a go at us which they did gratefully. Bad decisions on and off the field cost us big time. We ought to have made changes much sooner. Ainsworth didn't look fit and all too often got in Reid's way by playing too deep. Craig Moore had a lively first half but should have been hooked early in the second half for the bigger and stronger Anier. Whatever Moorey's talents are they don't include beating 6ft + centrebacks in the air. Not sure about Fraser Kerr coming on to replace ZFA - that sent out the wrong signal to the visitors. Overall Killie looked the fitter more determined side and we simply couldn't match their workrate. They did deserve to win but am just sorry that it was by Craig Slater's goal - a lucky shot but maybe we'll get the same good fortune next week. Not too disheartened by the result - today's game was always going to be the hardest of our recent run of home fixtures. Impressed by Reid and Vigurs today. We can't be too hard on the team and Stuart McCall - we all have bad days at the office and make mistakes.
  24. Whilst I don't agree with all the behind the scenes machinations that go on, you are correct. Once the fixtures have been drawn up in draft, the Police would still have to be consulted before they were published. That could take a few days. They could then be published. However then the TV companies would then start chopping and changing them and even later changes announced. Its the system thats wrong, not the timing.
