Depending on what paper you believe, the previous offer was either £300k or £450k. Any thoughts of us getting £1m was always complete fantasy and, if this was the price we were putting on him, then it would have been a starting point for negotiations. It's being reported we have accepted an increased offer which I'm taking to be anything from £400k to £500k which is getting close to what I think we would actually have been looking for. Seeing as the situation had changed and we had a player who was publicly wanting to leave, I wouldn't be surprised if we just accepted slightly less to allow us to move on.

That made me laugh at the thought of him spending all day in the pub and turning up steaming for his medical!

I thought we played some of our best passing through midfield in a good while against Dundee. Unfortunately it only got us to the edge of the box and we created very few chances.

Yeah, there is a fair bit of revisionism going on. I can understand people wanting him to move on following the statements but that doesn't make him rubbish overnight.

We will miss him. While he doesn't always produce an end product he is one of a few players who gives you a tingle of excitement when he receives the ball with a man in front of him or a ball is played through into space for him. If nothing else, he'll go with my thanks for his goal and performances in the play-offs.

Is this the first mention of Charlton looking to put in a bid? As for us maybe bringing in someone on loan if Johnson leaves, is this allowed after the transfer window? If we have a potential target lined up, I can't see his club waiting indefinitely for us to make our move (or not).

McGhee is quoted on the BBC website as saying there have no bids for Johnson since the one we rejected a few weeks ago (reported to be £300k).

That link to the Sun mentions £450k + add-ons. If that is the case then I would think we're not far away from doing business. The big problem being if it happens tomorrow and we don't have any time to bring someone else in.

I was impressed by Clay in the first half but he disappeared in the second half. Assuming it's down to fitness then that is something which can be worked on.

Richard Wilson was there but he only seemed to announce goals. I thought he seemed depressed announcing our goal but he sounded equally downbeat announcing both of theirs. I turned to Clyde at half time to try to get some sort of report as Radio Scotland's report was limited to saying Mcdonald scored on 19 minutes but there was only so much of that I could take.

We must still have the money to sign him if he can prove his fitness, otherwise you would assume we would have let him go to find another club.

Listening to open all mics on radio Scotland and Richard Wilson sounded like he was announcing a death in the family at our goal there! Come on Motherwell, keep it going.

The club have now made an apology for the police approach at the end of the match and are looking to find a new way for fans to leave Category C matches. Not sure if he is young enough but I would be very surprised if we risk him in an irn bru cup game.

I'm thinking of popping along to this tonight as I missed Saturday's game. I enjoyed the under 20's cup final but expect this to be too much of a step up. Of course that depends if Airdrie take this as a chance to try some of their own youth players or go with the full team.
