I don't like the huge travelling support chat - it never seems to end well. There wasn't much between us in the first half of our most recent meeting and the outcome might well have been different if they had got the opener. After last week I don't see where a lot of the optimism is coming from and I'm back to being a prophet of doom!

Partick Thistle V Motherwell 11/04/15 - Huge Away Crowd Expected

I admire your optimism Motherwell 89. Personally, I think we took a big step closer to relegation today. I said beforehand that the most important thing was not to lose today. There was never any doubt after the first goal - outplayed and, more importantly, outworked after that. -

To be honest, parking shouldn't really involve much more of a walk than at Fir Park. Try Garscube Rd. or one of the streets around Raeberry Street (turn left off Maryhill Road) or Murano St. If you're feeling adventurous, come off the M8 at Dobbies Loan, drive up Saracen St. and turn left into Panmure St. at Lidl and park as far along there as you can. I'm not sure but somebody might even be good enough to look after your car along there. As for public transport, Maryhill Road has a never ending stream of buses going up it. Most of them go up from Hope St. at the side of Central Station. -

While it would be fantastic to win this, I'm more concerned at the moment that we don't lose. 4 points difference going into the split is possible, Thistle will see this as a chance to make it a 7 point gap which will be very difficult to overcome, particularly with goal difference. -
Just watched the highlights- commentator says "Kelly had to pay to get back in" after Ainsworth skins him for the third goal!
-
I'm pretty sure he scored a screamer one of the games - but it was for them!

To clear up any confusion, I was referring to Michael McGlinchey as the post immediately before mine talked abouthim being in the NZ World Cup squad! Anyway, can't make it to Kilmarnock tomorrow but am enjoying all the TC memories - some other Well strikers have been effective but I rate him as the most gifted I've seen. Not sure what to expect tomorrow. Although we've improved, Killie impressed last time at Fir Park and certainly looked better than ICT, St Johnstone or Accies.

Also, his contract had expired by the time the World Cup came around.

I can still picture the whole ridiculous Louis Thow incident. To be fair, the backlash from that probably started the ball rolling with the change to the referees' approach. Did Coyne catch the goalie out the box and lob him that day? I have a vague memory of a Gerry McNee commentary.
-
Was Softy's goal from an indirect free kick on the edge of the 6 yard box? One of the ludicrous decisions that were flying about until the refs were told to use common sense?
-
He wasn't going to make it with us and I wish him all the best. Not many but he did provide a few memorable moments. ETA: didn't realise it is just a loan deal - a bit premature with my comments!
-
Any idea which Thomas that refers to?

The new colour scheme looks much better although one small comment is that it's pretty difficult to read text such as "Club Chat" in the claret banner near the top.
-
Was that the penalty claim? I saw it briefly at half time and thought it looked like a penalty but it wasn't in the highlights and I haven't seen it again. It looked as though the Accies player caught his legs and didn't make contact with the ball but, as I said, I haven't seen it again.

What do you call two Spanish firemen? José and Hose B! Straight out my son's Beano but doesn't really work written down.

I don't know t going rate for a head groundsman but, having now seen the salary being offered, I think you may well be right.

I know the pitch is an awful lot better than it used to be but we've spent a lot of money for it to be in the condition it is. We've not had a severe winter and all the drainage was supposed to be sorted out and everything is to the highest specification. I'm guessing he was pushed.
-
It's looking good on my mobile - I'll check out the desktop version at lunchtime! ETA: I see I can now quote using my mobile which is great - some of my posts have looked ridiculously out of context in the thread in the past. I'll try to keep up to speed now!

The £10 a month option sounds great but they should be encouraging a higher amount as the norm for those that can afford it. Payments of £25 per month sorts out the £300 membership in a year - other options should be pushed outlining the amounts people would need to pay to reach the next level in different timescales. If fans can be encouraged to let the direct debit run at a level they're comfortable with they can gradually upgrade their membership level. Many fans like myself will have paid the 300 membership some time ago and will now only be paying the annual renewal fee - there's an untapped market out there.

Contribution sent. Your reference to security issues and re-directs explains why I got sent to a very dodgy dating site when I clicked on the Steelmen Online link last week!

I know our goal difference is poor but if we were to catch up with them then the necessary wins for us and defeats for them mean it would definitely be pulled back a good bit and might not be the point of a difference that it is effectively considered to be by many. This would still require us to put a few wins together which I am less than convinced we can do.

Yes, the development fee applies even at that young age and I think they would even be due a small cut of any fee we manage to sell him for. Fortunately he's been with us a good while now and the majority of his development will be attributed to us. Let's just hope his potential is realised.

I heard a Rangers fan on a radio phone-in saying fans would be willing to do a lot of work around the stadium. That might be ok for things like sweeping the terraces (even that I have my doubts about) but Health and Safety legislation, insurance these days would probably rule a lot of it out. Say an electrician is carrying out some repairs and something goes wrong, there would be no come back for either party and the club would have to be very careful about going down that route. It might be ok for some small scale jobs if disclaimers are signed but I see it being fraught with difficulties.

My first thought at the time was that a goalie shouldn't be beaten at his first post but I have to admit that, sitting right behind Long, the shot was moving so fast I didn't see it moving from when it left his foot until it hit the back of the net. Law had a difficult game against him and certainly did better in the second half but if he was trying to blame anyone else at the goal he had a cheek.

Are they a well off club? Does it look as though he's looking to completely reshape the club as was reportedly his intention at Motherwell? Strangly, the way it's worked out, there's been a fair bit of reshaping done with Baraclough as manager.
