  1. Faddy poked the ball forward with his challenge, not the Celtic player. Ref saw it and correctly told linesman to put flag down.
  2. Has Murphy been injured as he doesn't seem to have been playing too regularly? Does the number of appearances affect future payments?
  3. I think they would say it was the drumsticks rather than the drum that they had an issue with similar to some clubs banning sticks on flags. Don't know what they would make of the piper who played all through the St. Johnstone game yesterday!
  4. It's something I've been meaning to get round to for ages, like the box to box in the programme which I did recently. At £10 for the season I'm surprised there's not been more of an uptake on that.
  5. I agree it's shocking but starting to ban people for shouting at the manager is a dangerous precedent.
  6. Going by today's interview with McCall in the Sun today, we've already had a few players on trial but have been hampered by being unable to play them in games. He also says there's only a slim chance of Randolph staying.
  7. He stood out from the rest in terms of his control but his lack of pace still means he was getting caught on the ball. Can still deliver a good ball but he wasn't too influential and was taken off for Lawless whose direct running made a real impact. I think Forbes will be a squad player for Thistle next season and will no doubt score against us!
  8. Only because Rovers' finishing was dreadful. They should have been 3 down after 30 minutes as Raith walked through their defence but hit it wide or straight at the goalie. Throughout the game their attempts at clearances continually found Raith players in space around the box. Admittedly, the biggest sitter of the night was from a Thistle player who somehow managed to knock the ball over from a few yards.
  9. It was obvious from the start of McGhee's tenure that he didn't rate Mensing or he didn't fall into his style of playing. By coincidence, I went to the Thistle v Raith game last night and Mensing played centre half for Raith and I would have given him Man of the Match although Lawless skipped by him a couple of times late on. He always played well for Accies against us but he's probably found his level now. Chris Erskine, who's off to United, was probably Thistle's best player with some nice touches. I know we'll lose some players and they'll bring in some new ones but I thought they looked too open for the SPL and will ship goals but that's based on one viewing.
  10. The thought they might do that has certainly crossed my mind a few times. It would make sense for them and give him the coverage he wants to keep in the running for an Ireland place. Not that I want to see him returning to Fir Park as a Celtic player though.
  11. Totally agree - I could have lived with all the proposals if they were seen as the means to an end, apart from the 11-1 voting structure. This is the one change which allows all the other suggested tweaks to take place in future. I was under the impression a change to this was part of the package until I heard the St. Mirren chairman. Quite rightly, this is the one thing he's not prepared to budge on. There's been some great coverage of this on Radio Scotland's teatime show this week including the interview with Stuart Gilmour. They also suggested Aberdeen had vetoed an earlier change to the voting structure as they wanted it in the whole package. So what's happened?
  12. They'll sign a pre-contract agreement and then train with them over the summer before signing on 1st Sept. Not sure they can pay expenses over the summer but I'm sure most players could survive 3 months if they know they'll get a nice fat signing on fee to make up for it.

    Europe

There's already a European Football Thread on the various permutations. Where's an Administrator when you need one?
  14. We, and no doubt every other club, say the same "if only" line every season. It's one of the great things about football that you can win games you don't deserve to. Obviously you can lose games you don't deserve to also but I'm sure if you ran through all our fixtures and tried to take an unbiased view on points due we'd be pretty much where we are now.

    Dundee Game

I didn't study it that closely but first impression was you don't normally see players sent off for that sort of challenge.
  16. Sad news and my condolences to his friends and family. I didn't know him but he always seemed to be able to take a step back and give much needed balanced view in his posts when others were getting a bit carried away. Got the impression that he had seen it all before but still lived and breathed his football and very much enjoyed hearing others' view.

    U20 Fixtures

Is Gordon Young still at the club and in what role?
  18. Do runners up not get into Europe if Celtic win the cup rather than 4th in league? Edit: hadn't refreshed the page and was beaten to it.
  19. Unlike Hearts game with Randolph, there were enough highlights to fill the 5 minute slot without concentrating on dodgy challenges. Ridiculous situation if that can cause inconsistencies in the way incidents are treated.
  20. Hopefully we can clinch top six with a win at the weekend and some other results go our way.
  21. Last time I looked the BBC website still used flash (could be wrong though, don't know much about these things ) and it must be one of the biggest websites around.
  22. If you've got a season ticket you're entitled to get in at any point but you'd probably have to go to the main entrance and it would be worth speaking to the club beforehand.

    Red Cards

Hadn't really thought of that - taking one for the team. Yeah, I can see there being circumstances where I would applaud the player being sent off.

Going for Ojamma - full of energy (until he ran out of it)!
