Some truth in what you say, but I'm more optimistic. SK will have more money available to him for a start. Not in terms of the gross amount but certainly in terms of the net amount. Wages for the likes of Barry Maguire, Conor Wilkinson, Nathan McGinley, Callum Butcher etc will be freed up to spend on newcomers. These players contributed little to our campaign this term but did eat up a substantial part of the wages budget. Hopefully Jon Obika too.  On the debit side, yes we'll lose Blair Spittal for sure. Maybe Theo Bair and Lennon Miller - but those moves are by no means certain. As for the rest of the OOC players, there's no-one I'm desperate to keep. Maybe some other youngsters coming through too?

There will be huge departure and arrival list this summer, but even if we only attain a 50% success rate in incomers then we should still strengthen. Add to that, that SK will now know his squad better and will be aware of weaknesses.

I know it doesn't sound like it, but I'm always optimistic, with a healthy dose of realism thrown in. The dosage is probably increasing with every passing year.

Aberdeen had five shots on target and Lennon Miller headed the first one off the line defending a corner about 55 minutes in. The second shot on target was the goal from a corner after an hour.

Of the three saves he made I can think of two. The shot from outside the box which was straight at him and the shot from the right hand of the box which he saved at the near post. Neither were great saves.

Add in his nonsense at the end of the game that almost gave away a goal and it was another joke performance from him.

I don't go with the 'worst keeper in the league' stuff, but Kelly does look awful nervy to me, which might well be having an effect on what is not the world's greatest defence. We could certainly find a better option out there, but we saw the list of worse options we've suffered the other day. Overall, a parting of the ways might be best for both parties at this point.

The success rate of transfers at our level is reckoned to be somewhere between 40% and 50%. That's about right for this season's recruitment, so we're unlikely to see much improvement next year unless we can hold onto our best players - which isn't going to happen. Any new manager would be in exactly the same position, looking to find gems on free transfers or loan deals, and a quick glance around our rivals tells you how often that happens. We'll have another meh squad because we operate in a meh league with nae money to buy proven, consistent quality.

I think we will struggle to replace Mugabi and if you look he's started in 6/8 of our wins plus the games we have defended well at Ibrox, Celtic Park and Easter Road.

I'm not going to miss reading the lazy stereotypes of "nice guy but has a mistake in him". SOD, O'Donnell and Casey all have far more mistakes this season. As for why he's so much nicer than Shane Blaney or Barry Maguire I'll leave that to the psychiatrists.....

SOD and O'Donnell. Are those psychiatrists Freudian?

That's a bit harsh. People on here are allowed an opinion whether you agree with it or not. It's a democracy. There's no need to be verbally abusive to others if they disagree with your opinion. Its Motherwell FC forum. Not "happy clapper" forum. Whether opinions are positive, overtly negative or balanced, they should all be allowed to be heard and respected.

You might want to have a word with at least one of the 'absolute wankers' about being a bit harsh or verbally abusive to others. Although, in fairness, he can take it as well as he dishes it out.

    Exactly this.

It’s when you then ask them who they’d have in SK’s place they come up with names such as Tam Courts and Yogi Hughes. Lunacy.

I quite like SK and I like his backroom team. Ok we occasionally have shockers of performances but this happens every season under every manager.

I was told St Johnstone appointing Levein displayed the kind of ambition Motherwell never show. Championship football seems a strange ambition, but there you go. Ross County, Hibs and Aberdeen could tell similar stories - multiple times - but apparently we should have no trouble finding a successful manager with great experience at our level.

When we were on a poor run and folk on forums said he should be sacked I assume.

You're probably right. They could have taken the decision to sack him then but didn't. That decision could still be taken tomorrow, next week or in the summer - there was no missed opportunity.

The only thing more eye-stabblingly painful than the annual "writing off new players we have signed" ritual is the annual "writing off players we haven't signed" ritual.

Take your point, but if it turns out we're signing 30+ year olds from Scottish League One in the summer, you can probably write next season off.

Seriously? Would be incredible but I would imagine wages would be an issue

No really. I just made up a more inspiring rumour to cheer Steelboy up. I mean, surely the Scougall one's pish too - a  guy approaching 32 who's spent the last 4 years at Alloa. The only possible way that would make any sense would be if we get relegated.

Are these names coming from any reliable source, or just some randoms online?

Heard on radio and p and b that were linked with Stefan Scougal of Alloa. as replacement for Spital. Think he used to be ok at Livi prior to Sheffield move but too old now and even less pace than Spital

Genuinely interested - who came out with that on radio?

That's a helluva leap of faith. Theoretically might work, but I don't see it. Hope the club have some historic data that might lead them to this decision.

They certainly know whether season ticket sales have been increasing or decreasing year by year. If it's the latter, freezing prices might be an attempt to hold onto existing fans, as much as attract new ones. Plenty of folk on here have talked about jacking it in recently.

He owes us for giving him the chance when others, including most on here were very adamant that he was total shite. Let go by St Johnstone doesn't look good on any strikers CV . Scoring only 1 goal, i think, last season not many would have given him that chance. I feel he will have this in mind when making any decision. Manager was absolutley right about him. Sell or keep him its up to SK.

It would be nice to think Bair acknowledges we've kick started his career and he'll sign an extension, if only to up any transfer fee a wee bit. But his goals have helped keep us up in a season where it looked like we were in big trouble, so maybe he feels we're about even. Who knows?

It's pretty certain Kettlewell will want want to keep Bair, but if an offer comes in and the board feel it's good enough, it won't be his decision.

On another note a bogeyman I know says Aberdeen have a deal to sell Miovski for £4M and Burrows has done a deal with McMahon to buy Bair for a fiver.

Where are we getting the £4million from?

The most likely scenario I think Bobby. I also think St Johnstone will take a point from Hibs. No reason to panic though. At the end of the season I think we'll finish 9th, 3 points above the 11th placed team.  We can beat Livingston and draw in the last game, that should be be enough.  Our superior goal difference will be a valuable cushion too.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll be fine too. The chances of both County and St Johnstone suddenly hitting form at this late stage are slim, to say the very least. No need for us to make it more interesting than it should be, though.

Aberdeen want 8 mil for miovski

He scored 15 last season and also top scorer this season but  no where near that tally season's before. Not even double figures. Must keep Bair.

I want a unicorn for my birthday.

If Bair doesn't sign an extension, he goes, before or during next season.

Who cares? Albeit more money for club. Can't remember celebrating 7th place. Can't compete for Europe now so seasons over for me. Each to Thier own though. Don't like split format.

It's an important game. If we lose while Ross County win at Livi, the season's definitely not over.

Around 2.5k a week according to earlier press reports

    1 hour ago, grizzlyg said:

That seems really high as I would imagine our top earners would be nearer that, ie. SOD, Slattery, Kelly

But again I am just guessing, I don't know any inside info

Taking £58K per week as the correct total for wages, we currently have a first team squad of around 24 players listed, so that averages out at just under £2.5K per player. That doesn't include the development guys like Wells, Ferrie, and Ross, assuming their wages are part of the 58K total.

According to Weir we are at roughly 50% of Turnover for player wages so around £3m. We have another £2m in non playing wages.

So it's around £58,000 per week on player wages. It's pretty obvious who is being unrealistic here.

So how much is Bair on?
