  1. They certainly know whether season ticket sales have been increasing or decreasing year by year. If it's the latter, freezing prices might be an attempt to hold onto existing fans, as much as attract new ones. Plenty of folk on here have talked about jacking it in recently.
  2. It would be nice to think Bair acknowledges we've kick started his career and he'll sign an extension, if only to up any transfer fee a wee bit. But his goals have helped keep us up in a season where it looked like we were in big trouble, so maybe he feels we're about even. Who knows? It's pretty certain Kettlewell will want want to keep Bair, but if an offer comes in and the board feel it's good enough, it won't be his decision.
  3. Where are we getting the £4million from?
  4. Yeah, I'm sure we'll be fine too. The chances of both County and St Johnstone suddenly hitting form at this late stage are slim, to say the very least. No need for us to make it more interesting than it should be, though.
  5. I want a unicorn for my birthday. If Bair doesn't sign an extension, he goes, before or during next season.
  6. It's an important game. If we lose while Ross County win at Livi, the season's definitely not over.
  7. Taking £58K per week as the correct total for wages, we currently have a first team squad of around 24 players listed, so that averages out at just under £2.5K per player. That doesn't include the development guys like Wells, Ferrie, and Ross, assuming their wages are part of the 58K total.
  8. And no one will offer it. If he's refused to sign a new contract Hearts will have to take what they can get, unless they're happy to settle for hee haw.
  9. Who has offered £5million for Shankland?
  10. We disagree on how this should/will go, that's all. No need for anyone to shut up.
  11. I'm not sure what Miller's decision has to do with Bair's plans. And that extension won't stop him being sold when a decent offer comes in. There's absolutely no chance Lennon Miller will still be here next season unless something goes badly wrong with his career.
  12. Yeah, we can decide to keep him, but right now he's a sellable asset, so he can't be allowed to walk for nothing. As it stands, that means we'll have to accept the price someone is willing to pay, either in the summer or next January.
  13. Problem is, his worth isn't up to us, the buyers will decide that. If he is willing to sign a new contract, fair enough. Otherwise, the clock is already ticking and selling in January would greatly reduce our chances of finding a decent replacement.
  14. The value of any player is generally determined according to who's selling, not who's buying. They'd pay more if he was with an English club, because they'd have to.
  15. How much do you think he's worth?
  16. What do McMahon and Weir not like about them?
  17. Ominous. I'll no sleep tonight.
  18. I wanted to vote for Bair, but Jim McMahon forced me to vote for some guy called Barmack. So I hear.
  19. The argument seems to be, if we get reasonable investment from one source, that source is going to demand control of the club. That's a logical argument. If we don't want to entertain that possibility, smaller amounts will need to come from multiple sources. If businesses etc are out there, ready and willing to hand money to Motherwell without any say in how it's spent, why haven't they come forward before now, and why hasn't anyone at the club or WS previously identified them? Failing that, we're looking at appeals for those extra donations, raffles or bucket collections - which only feed into the 'we're skint' narrative, apparently.
  20. I'm not sure about this guy and I'd be naturally wary of any outside investor. But I don't think we can afford to dismiss this, or any other, approach out of hand until the WS have been given a go at finding more money, unless they have a very clear, realistic plan already formulated.
  21. It sounds very like yourself, and some others on here, have taken the stance that any outside investor should be hunted, even before any discussions as to their intent, because their intent will inevitably be bad. You might well be right, but it can't be that simple. The Well Society is a large group of individuals, so not everyone will share that view, obviously. And the glaring questions remain - whre will the Society drum up substantial no strings attached investment, and why wait till now to start doing something about it?
  22. If it's left to the Well Society to find additional investment, where would that come from, given the idea any investor is not going to want full control is laughable, in your opinion? Or do you want them to find thousands of new members willing to donate money on a regular basis?
  23. That was my understanding too. All kinds of arguments and complaints can be made about the Society's lack of communication or lack of say in big decisions over the years, and folk can claim that certain people are set on engineering a certain outcome, but if the final decision has to be taken according to the result of a membrship vote, legally, then there's no getting away from that. That some folk won't like that decision is inevitable, whichever way it goes.
