No, I totally agree, signing older players who are constantly picking up injuries is pointless. Montgomery had some injury problems last season but you're hoping the younger guys will get over them. Our luck's just seems to be out in every direction this season, which could really cost us. I hope he wants to prove us all wrong, starting with his former employers.

In the league, I count 3 non Old Firm players above him - Shanland at Hearts, Miovski and McGrath at Aberdeen. Who do you have as the 4th? The comment I replied to specifically referred to our summer recruitment. The only one of the guys I've listed who was signed during that window is McGrath, so I think we've done ok so far with Bair. Maybe folk expect us to sign better players than Celtic, Rangers, Hearts or Aberdeen. Fair enough. If I was criticising Kettlewell there are certainly sticks to beat him with - Bair isn't one of them, unless your argument chooses to ignore the number of goals he's scored this season and focus solely on his lack of them elsewhere in previous years.

Shaw could well have been on his way out anyway but he's obviously still injured, as he's back at Barnsley to 'continue his rehabilitation'. His signing made sense in as much as he was a last minute panic buy who Kettlewell knew from Ross County, but he hadn't scored in a year when he arrived and you could see he was totally devoid of confidence.

I think just about everyone is. That's why some of the complaints about signings don't seem based in reality. I don't believe for a minute the guys we're bringing in are at the top of Kettlewell's shopping list. It's one thing having an eye for a good player, it's another thing entirely having the funds to sign them.
