  1. Halliday in on 6 month loan, becoming permanent in the summer.
  2. The need for survival in the top division pushes the need for constant panic signings. Is there a desire to reset along the lines of our own youth system providing the basis of the first team? Who knows. Talk of a bigger league introducing a wee bit of breathing space for clubs like ourselves doesn't convince me. How big would that league need to be before we could feel relegation wasn't still a realistic possibility and gamble on change? Feels like the club is a hamster on a wheel at the moment.
  3. As long as tomorrow's is wrong, I'm fine with that.
  4. I agree with everything you're saying, but I do worry about how we get 'round the youth development issue. Clubs like ourselves seem to be in a position where young guys showing any talent will be snatched by bigger vultures for negligible financial compensation before they've had a chance to contribute much, or anything, to our first team. The ones we're left with probably won't make it at our level. If we don't get the playing benefit from our youths, we need to get the pay up benefit, but getting guys like Johnston or Miller to sign 5 year deals obviously isn't going to happen.
  5. Happy and clapping, I hope. What are you hoping for?
  6. He's played in League One since he moved down south. Burton Albion, MK Dons, Ipswich (very briefly) and Charlton. Decent level for us to recruit from these days, but the way things have been going, it'll probably fall through.
  7. Supposed to be better offers from down south, but wants back for family reasons, according to the reports. Won't hold my breath, though there does seem to be some truth to this one.
  8. Yeah, about 6 years back. You remember him?
  9. No idea if he'd be any good or not, but at least he seems to have been playing regularly up until a few weeks ago and apparently wants to come here.
  10. I'm more than happy to deal in reality. We're a poor side, we didn't sign much quality in the summer, we look unlikely to bring much in during this window and our run without a win was the worst since Tommy McLean. I don't ignore or need to defend any of that. However, when folk claim we can't score, reality shows otherwise. Reality shows the non footballer Theo Bair's goal return has been on a par with or better than anyone else signed by any of our potential relegation rivals. And here's the bigger picture - all the pissing and moaning in the world won't change the fact Kettlewell is not getting sacked. We got that straight from the top a week ago, but it clearly didn't register with everyone.
  11. Is he? That's not what he said in his interview.
  12. We also signed a striker who has scored one goal less than our star loanee and as many or more goals than any player outwith Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Aberdeen. It's amazing what we can choose to ignore when it comes to our own team.
  13. If you've no idea how good or bad Alloa's players are, how can you possibly judge the outcome of the game? Unless you just want to say we'll lose, obviously. The 'we can't score' patter just isn't true - we've scored more goals than Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren - but I suppose it suits your argument.
  14. Why would it be no shock whatsoever for a team halfway down League One to come to a Premier League team and win? Which of their players are the biggest threat to us?
  15. Luckily for us, there are other teams in this league.
  16. If he's gone, he's gone, bugger all we can do about it and the club will just need to get on with it. I certainly wasn't implying he's terrifying to face or it would hurt more to see him score against us, but he's already proved he can score in this league, so I'd rather he didn't continue doing so against us.
  17. If he's off, fair enough, as long as it's nowhere in Scotland.
  18. Wouldn't surprise me. Wednesday's new manager is picking up loanees who've done well at a lower level. It's a good move for everyone involved, except us.
  19. Scott Burns saying we're not interested in him.
  20. Stories doing the rounds that Sheffield Wednesday want him, but haven't seen anything definite yet.
  21. He seems to have been playing regularly, 6 goals in 16.
