I have a purpose!

No. Not possible to play with a torn hamstring. Not even low level training would be allowed unless it was a minute strain, and even then, it'd be basic strengthening and physio type work. Too large a muscle in terms of movement and running to be risked for football.

So what is Faddy inferring here? Torn as a result of playing through niggles?

My suspicion is that it's either been a severe strain, and poor management of that has led to a minor strain, or it's a low grade tear, which has happened near the end of that period.

I would doubt that he played with that for an extended period. Possible, but very unlikely unless minimal.

The manager needs to take a long hard look at himself if he thinks that Clarkson is "not the kind of striker we need".

McFadden is a different case. There is a perception that he was an expensive luxury given his injury record last season (given his goals and assists when fit, the questions over his form may have been harsh). However, given we found money for new deals for Reid and McManus and to bring in O'Brien, a lot of defenders not to mention Law and Twardzik, you have to wonder if we could have offered a deal to McFadden. Especially given the ineffective performance of Law as a creative player. Also worth noting that McFadden and Vigurs linked up well.

Law and Ojaama or McFadden and Clarkson. Hmmmm...

Anyway, mistakes appear to have been made. Can't help that. Question is how we reverse the slide. Sadly with the squad we have, can't see us digging ourselves out of this hole...

Cheers, complex business I gather.

Whatever the detail, I think Faddy is one of these players that needs the very best monitoring and treatment to get the best out of him.

Very much so, to the point that we, as students were generally kept away from muscular (etc) injuries. Very specialised toward either doctors/surgeons or physios. And even within that, he seems a complex case, with back and knee issues as opposed to a solid and singular area.

I agree and remarked on this weeks ago. Faddy made Ainsworth and Vigurs more effective. My mates and I were chatting to him in the queue at New Douglas Park and he acknowledged that he has problems with one of his knees but still feels he coudl play for a while yet.

We didn't have cash to pay for Faddy last season (it came out the Directors' pockets). Given how long it took him to find a club this season, we weren't the only one's questioning his value.

Law & Reid's salary combined is probably less than we paid Faddy.

Tough financial decisions to make, and easy to complain about when we are playing mince. There is no way Fadddy's loss is responsible for the complete meltdown of the squad this season, though.

Based on what information? A misconception that James himself dispelled in a recent interview which gave rise to your next point of others questioning his value. Suppose the truth will out as the published accounts become available with some members on here having access as shareholders...

As for his loss not being responsible for squad meltdown - granted, not entirely, but, a contributory factor none the less no matter those who heralded 'Josh Law as an improvement' dress it up.

I wasn't suggesting Faddy's departure was the root cause of the so-called meltdown, merely that in addition to his own personal contribution, he made oothers around him play more effectively. I don't see anyone in current squad having that impact.

If people are determined to rub McCall's nose in it for not signing Clarky at least look at what he actually said and more importantly when he said it. He specifically wanted someone with pace to go in behind and despite Clarkson's good run of form that's still not his game. I very much doubt he would have had the same impact for us either, given the way the whole team are playing.

Doesn't really matter, McCall had a chance to sign him and didn't, meanwhile he's banging goals in for Dundee.

Another massive fail on mccalls part.

I'll be honest, I agreed with McCalls take on Clarkson. It didn't seem the correct fit for us. Hindsight is showing him scoring at the moment, but like a previous poster says, just because he is doing it at Dundee doesn't mean that he would have instantly replicated his number of goals for us.

If he had signed and we were still loosing games as we are now and it came out that we had the chance to sign Ojamma on loan but couldn't because we'd brought in Clarkson, it would have everyone (including me) raging.

I'm in agreement that we aren't great, I'm in agreement that McCall is not looking smart at the moment, but you can't superimpose the performance of someone we didn't sign and directly imply his good form would have occurred with us as well. We've got Sutton who scored 20+ goals last season looking like a ghost of his former self, the problems are deeper than this.

There is something deeply really wrong with Motherwell just now and it needs fixed as soon as possible.

Then why did he even bother to look at him when he clearly wanted someone with pace?

As far as I am aware he was given use of training facilities and I would imagine us looking at him was more out of courtesy than actively pursuing him with the intention of signing him.

If you offered me ojamaa or clarkson at the start of the season I know who I would have went for...

Exactly. And just because Clarky is banging them in for Dundee, it does not mean that he'd be doing the same for us. He'd be going off exactly the same level of service that Sutton and Ojamaa are receiving.

Still doesn't mean he would have done the same here. Hindsights a wonderful thing.
