2015/16 Ins & Outs

Well Up For It!

Cautiously optimistic with the signings and how the team is shaping up.

Biggest priority right now is a keeper. Twardzik is not the worst back up but no one even his strongest defenders reckon he has what it takes to be more than at best adequate with a fear of some howlers. Long wasn't hugely impressive but certainly performed when it counted at Ibrox. Certainly willing to give him benefit of the doubt if he returns.

Biggest fear in the defence is another year older McManus. Solid against Rangers in the main largely rotten through most of the season, can he roll back the years and be the leader of the back four we anticipated?

We have some cover in Chalmers and Watt certainly looked promising.

I like the look of midfield four but the next priority is surely someone to give Lasley and Pearson competition and cover. Hopefully Leitch can step up here but still like another signing.

Up front we have three new faces and Moore, McDonald would be a superb bonus especially given the versatility he showed in Rangers games.

All in all a lot of question marks remain and you never know until the serious stuff starts where you are but it looks like a reinvigorated squad that will hopefully kick on and do much better than last season

Schoolyard logic says we need to sign the following

Somebody for the No 1 jersey

Somebody for the No 4 jersey

Somebody for the No 16 jersey

Somebody for the No 17 jersey

No one will take No 13 cos they're all feart

No. 77 still available

Without getting ahead of ourselves, would be funny if Barra put together a team who could put in the best challenge to Celtic and left Aberdeen in our wake....... Again

Motherwell are 66/1 to win league w/o celtic.

Can get 1/3 of the odds for each way (1st or 2nd without celtic)

2nd is probably getting ahead of ourselves, but given the form we have shown since February, added to Barraclough getting a summer to get his ideas ingrained and new signings in, I don't expect us to be in the bottom two next season. Now that might be wishfull thinking......

A midfielder we've previously been linked with, Richie Towell, rated as a top bargain.

In addition, Burrows has tweeted that we're 'not anywhere near done' regarding signings. This is shaping up to be one of the most exciting pre-seasons since McGhee came in.

With only one recognised goalkeeper, two central defenders and three central midfielders (two in their 30s and one relatively untested), I'd hope we weren't anywhere near done. Seventeen players left (from an admittedly bloated squad) and we've signed five...

Yes, these should now be our priorities Greg. We have to strengthen defensively if we are to reduce our goals against column.
