We support them all to get out of this mess. Every player and the manager - and we don't scapegoat players either. Did people think SOD was a bad player when he played out of his skin for Scotland? Time to give him a break. He's probably going to be gone by summer anyway

He has a clause in his contract, if he plays 50% of games gets another year

"Why does he not do better when I shout bad things at him? It works with my dog."

SOD has achieved the most in football of any our players and possibly, only Lennon will achieve more in of anyone in our squad. You’ll need to forgive me for expecting him to be able to control the ball or pass it to a teammate regularly.

Fingers crossed Wimmer and Koc can show him and the rest of the team how to pass to a player in claret and amber

This has been our biggest weakness this season, the amount of times we have conceded possession from giving away the ball needlessly is nothing short of criminal.

It will be interesting to see his team selection this Saturday to see if he continues as is to get a look at players for himself or will he immediately shake things up with his “own” selection and tactics?

Good post. I suspect he'll lean heavily on  the likes of David Clarkson and Jon Obika to pick his first ever Well team. Once he sees them in action for himself, he will start to make his own mind up and shake things up. In terms of tactics he may gradually introduce his own ideas.

Maybe siege mentality and raging with SK but I am desperate for Wimmer and Koc to be a success.  Koc looks like a great character and great link between Michael and dressing room.    We need to give these lads a chance and realise this isn't an overnight project.    I do try to humour everyone but underneath there is an incredibly passionate well fan that loves this club

SOD was getting booed by the East Stand for making several obvious stupid mistakes against Ross County. At one point, his response was to just give the thumbs up to those fans. Perhaps he would get more fans on his side if he maybe held his hands up at these moments instead of giving sarcastic responses to legitimate criticism.

So booing is legitimate criticism now? I always thought that it involved words of mainly more than one syllable put together in a coherent sentence.

Been thinking about this too. I think if you look at the non old firm teams that do well, or look back to our finishing 2nd or 3rd years or our 2 cup finals with Robbo.......we weren't exactly a football team. Kick rush, win the 2nd ball, swarm all over teams, score from punts into the box, win the 2nd ball and win the 2nd ball again. I think foreign coaches come here and try to bring in a different type of football....with possession, movement, positioning, supporting the player with the ball, and our players just can't carry it off that well. It'll work against some teams, but generally you'll come up against the hard fighting 2nd ball winners like killie or st mirren who will just bulldoze you. There's no four year development period for foreign managers introducing a new football ethos across a clubs ranks and levels. You're oot on your hole in 6 months if the results don't keep you competing for top 6 at least. These managers then have to sacrifice their 'football ethics' to survive.

The reality of this makes my heart sink

Again, were you at the game? Probably not. But for the avoidance of doubt, ‘getting booed’ in a football context can mean boos and shouts and jeers, etc. It’s a generic term. Regardless, solely booing someone or something can also be a way for a person or group of people to express legitimate criticism if they choose to do so. Are you the legitimate criticism police?

Booing, shouting and jeering are three different things. None of them are legitimate criticism, they're just noise. Criticism should be reasonable, balanced and constructive like, for example, the majority of your posts are ill thought out and poorly worded which results in an overly negative narrative.

I don't boo at all - never have just my views.  I also don't expect the team to come out and hear an individual Graham Speirs like critique individually of their performance at the end of games . For those that want to boo it's certainly understandable when being gubbed by Ross County at home.

Let me also add, if those fans didn't boo. Kettlewell would still be in a job.
He doesn't read online forums - only his wife, kids, cousins and family pets do.

Booing is part of football and as old as time.

I never do it during the game unless its at the officials! 😉

But if a performance has been utterly honking then I think its fair game at half time or full time.

Singling individual players out though has never been my bag. Not really sure what it achieves.

I was right, you are the criticism police.

Glad to have you engaged in ‘legitimate criticism’, although perhaps lacking a constructive strand.

Totally agree with you and it’s not always SOD, every player has cocked up simple passes, taken to many touches, tried little flick that were never on, not looked up before passing or humping the ball up the park, been caught wrong sided, failed to track back and many other mistakes - all very annoying to watch but sadly it’s the level of player we can afford at the moment.
