Wimmer instigated the deal before he buggered off.

It would also be nice for a current squad update before the club starts announcing additions to the squad for next season. Or is that too much to ask for?

Doesn't the squad update usually happen after the expiry of current contracts? - typically 31st May.

It was previously published on 24 May 2024, 31 May 2023, and 20 May 2022, so there isn’t really any pattern to it. To me, the silence on this issue, in favour of other announcements, is a little concerning. You can add the lack of info on Koc to that concern.

Aye  the timing does seem somewhat odd.

Ben Banks confirms that Koc is still in the building. It’s quite ridiculous that this info didn’t come direct from the club when they announced Wimmer’s resignation

With you on that, the club should have announced he was still here, very poor communications. I wonder if he is in the frame for the job, or just staying on to oversee the required recruitment etc.

Even with a renewed Executive Board, it seems the Club hasn’t learned its lesson on improving communication with the fans on basic yet important issues.

Communication about the managerial recruitment position has been very poor. I'm not expecting pages and pages of routine updates but all we've had is one sentence at the end of Michael Wimmer's resignation article last Friday  to confirm that our search was beginning.

Having a recruitment team is useful for transitional periods like this. Managers aren't as involved in signings as they used to be. Glad that things are still moving.

Contract end dates didn't just change because the manager left, and we pretty much know who is gone anyway.

Wimmer left on Friday, it's Tuesday now, with a bank holiday in between. Not sure what information of substance on the manager situation  the club can offer up at this point. I'm sure we will get a video soon enough. The club did a great job of keeping things close to their chest last time, and I hope they manage the same again.

How about…

‘The club can confirm that Ahmet Koc has/has not left his position as assistant manager’

Maybe we're working out what to do with him, or he's working notice, or we're giving him the chance to apply or be the #2 for the new guy. Can't imagine there's much for him to do at this point of the close season.

Not everyone got the bank holiday yesterday. Some were working. The club could have said something along the lines of "We knew last week/2 weeks ago (delete as appropriate) that Michael was leaving and we then started the process of finding a new manager. That is now well  underway. Ahmet Koc currently remains with the club and is in temporary charge until a new manager is appointed."

We don't need to know the identity of those being considered or interviewed. That should remain confidential.

I am pretty sure that the Club were aware of the family issues Wimmer some time and kept it much inhouse. Also sure that that he would not return from Germany was a surprise. As already said with a bank holiday it may not have been possible to gather a quorum to agree anything other than what was made. Would remind all of the last time exec board made statement without prior agreement with the owners representatives

It's basic stuff ffs, "Wimmer has gone but Ahmet Koc is still at the club and working as normal"  that's all that was required, a 5 min tweet.

The people running the club can look a bit amateurish at times, the optics are not great.

Surprised he was allowed to sign on Halliday and O'Donnell too as new manager may not rate them . Think possibly due diligence not done and amateurs running the club.

Maybe it was the board who wanted to keep Halliday and ODonnell took up his year option so not much the club could do about that other than offer him a pay off.

Its been fairly well documented that SOD had a clause in his contract that he got a years extension if he played x number of games.

The suggestion was that Halliday had similar.

Given Halliday played every game and SOD wasnt far behind him bar his injury, Im not sure why this is even a discussion.

McGinn is a different matter. But he is a better player and club captain, so harder to argue against.

Not a fan of these clauses that enables players to sign on again after poor season.

Alternative is you sign them on 2 year deals then youre left with a player you don't want and a player that doesn't want to be here but with a years contract that the club must honour. At least with the option to extend a player can find another club without a transfer fee being asked for and the club don't have to pay a severance package if he doesn't take up the option.

It’s worth remembering that football clubs, like any organisation, need to deal with sensitive matters in a professional way.

There’s a difference between being open and overstepping the mark. Revealing why someone stepped down, how long it was known internally, or the status of an assistant manager before anything has been confirmed isn’t just unwise, it’s genuinely unprofessional. It risks damaging relationships and can make it harder to bring in the right people further down the line.

Supporters have every right to expect honesty. But they also deserve a club that handles its business with care and integrity, even when not everything can be shared straight away.
