There’s a difference between being open and overstepping the mark. Revealing why someone stepped down, how long it was known internally, or the status of an assistant manager before anything has been confirmed isn’t just unwise, it’s genuinely unprofessional. It risks damaging relationships and can make it harder to bring in the right people further down the line. Supporters have every right to expect honesty. But they also deserve a club that handles its business with care and integrity, even when not everything can be shared straight away. Some overlap with the managerial thread. Not sure I wholly agree David. We're a fan owned club and should be kept informed of what is going on. Again I'm not advocating a blow by blow account of everything thats unfolding;thats clearly unreasonable. However its not unreasonable to be told if anyone is in charge, even temporarily, of the playing side. The club clearly reads this forum as Kyrk MacMillan's recently released interview answers most if not all of our questions. Having listened to it, I'm now pretty much up to date with what is going on. He's given us the necessary information in an open way, whilst still being professional. Thats all many of us asked.
weeyin
Good idea extending the early bird season ticket pricing so fans can see who the new gaffer will be.

Think possibly due diligence not done and amateurs running the club. O’Donnell invoked his further years clause allegedly

We may be a fan-owned club, but that doesn't change my post. There's information that simply can't be divulged to the public, even if that public includes Well Society members. There are processes in place for a reason. I would think that the interview with Kyrk was planned for such a time as more details had been ironed out with Ahmet, and most likely not because he was reading SO during his lunch break today and decided to get an impromptu video recorded!

If it was still Kettlewell and we had scraped back into the top flight via the play offs? I agree though, any new manager offers hope, so the prospect of not knowing who the appointment is, probably shouldnt be a factor.

But I can show the board that I dont like said manager by witholding my season ticket money and paying at the gate as I see fit. Was just saying that having no manager in place isnt really the same thing as having one you have had enough of.....

Kmcalpin
What a stange and underwhelming list. I've no problems with those being released. However, the "under discussion" list is lengthy and downright odd. I've no problem with discussing terms with Casey, but the others? If we're wanting to clear the decks and freshen the squad up? I get that the managerial situation complicates matters just now but the term "We remain in dialogue with all remaining players, whose personal circumstances are all different." Seems a bit odd. Does that mean option clauses could kick in?" No mention of Matty Connelly who I think is also out of contract and we have 3 signed keeprs already. Pleased that Olly Whyte and Mikey Booth have signed new deals, as they seem highly rated.

Yeh, the under discussion list is concerning and leaves little room for improving the squad should they all accept new deals. We could potentially find ourselves in the position of the new manager having to accept last year’s stale turkey.
joewarkfanclub
I agree that with 21 players already signed for next season we cant really afford to be signing on the remaining 6 OOC players. From those listed you could make a case for Seddon, who can cover a few positions, Casey who is a known quantity and if he doesnt sign on again we have to replace, and maybe Moses as he will be cheap and seems happy enough with cameos from the bench. But given our dearth of available talent up front, I think we will need an upgrade on him. With Robinson, Nicholson and Stuparevic all long term injuries, we still probably need 5 additional bodies all of whom need to be better than what we have to push some current players down the pecking order to become squad players. Thompson is a no for me. He is athletic enough to do well but his passing accuracy is horrendous and his positional discipline suspect. Davor and Paton are squad fillers so they kinda need to go as well so we can upgrade in midfield. I also think we still need to move on some of the contracted players. Unfortunately 3 of those Id choose are the long term injured who will be going nowhere until they have recovered.
wellfan
The optimism I had for a rejuvenated squad for next season has basically evaporated with the departure of Wimmer and that underwhelming GTF list.

Agreed and probably the reason for the "early bird" extension.
