He's not even played a minute for us yet - surely he needs to play about five minutes before he gets slagged off/told a youth player/someone who sits in the Hunter stand could do better

He might turn out to be our best centre-back in years but my issue is that we could lose him for between three and six games against a team that we almost always get beaten by.

It would be churlish to suggest we have had anything else other than a successful window, but I am a little disappointed we let Wilson go out on loan without a replacement.

He may have his deficiencies, ,but in my eyes at least he was a decent enough back up, in the same way Halliday is for the midfield spots.

I guess if JBA doesnt rate him and the boy wants to play, fair enough. He might yet develop with more first team football at Raith.

Just not convinced that we have adequate cover if anything happens to Longelo as we would be looking at SOD, McGinn or Halliday in there.

As for the rest of the squad. Midfield is excellent. Wide areas look good. Up front remains to be seen but at least  Maswanhise is scoring for now.

GK needs to settle down with either Ox being given a shot to see if he can do any better or just standing by Ward in the hope he can iron out the mistakes.

Good first window for JBA. Still some weaknesses to address, but we are gonna be fun to watch and hopefulky we ecan get enough wins to allow him time to build.

Perhaps a clause in the loan agreement that we can bring him back anytime if needed or specifically if Longellonis out for a period??

Pretty sure we could recall him as he's still our player

Is that our Greek left back? 🤣🤣

😂 apparently I tend to hit the n key instead of the space button but normally I see it and correct it but since I haven’t finished my coffee yet I’m obviously not very alert.

Aye that would certainly make sense.

I think a return clause can be in any loan deal but that any return can only be made in a transfer window. So January is the earliest Wilson could be recalled. There can be an exemption for goalkeepers if SPFL authorise emergency cover. But that does not apply to outfield players.

Scottish youngsters can now move back and forward as long as they are loaned to a lower league Club under the new Partnership scheme. Raith are not our 'partners' so that rules out that possibility.

You’re probably right

I'm not sure that's correct as I understand it a loan player can be recalled anytime the parent club deems it necessary, plus Wilson is already our player so we are not adding a player so no need to wait for a transfer window.

It really depends on the fine print in the loan agreement and what both clubs have agreed on.

I believe so. We recalled Matty.

Sorry to say this but I don't care about Wilson right now - he's a talent but he's not good enough just now and all the talk about cover for Manny is premature in my view as he's not injured

Wilson has had his chance and he's lost confidence and not ready just now

He can only re-register with us in January, different for a goal keeper (in an emergency), different for Stenhousemuir.

Had a wee search and found this posted in reply to the same question re Loans. Ties in with what I understood to be the situation. The Partnership agreement with Stenny and Cowdenbeath regarding young Scottish players falls outside the normal Loan terms.

Quote

"Clubs can now only make loan deals during the two transfer windows between July/August and January and players can only be brought into clubs on either half season or full season loans.

The changes mean that players can no longer be brought into clubs outside of the transfer windows on short-term deals with many clubs often bringing in players on a month`s loan during the season.

The changes also mean that clubs cannot recall a player until the transfer window reopens, the only exception to this is with goalkeepers.

Parent clubs can recall a goalkeeper with just 24-hours notice if they do not have two fit goalkeepers at their club.

Clubs can still recall players to feature for their development squad during the loan period."

So on that basis, Wilson returning before January is a non starter. I guess new rules were introduced to stop clubs abusing the system by swapping players back and forward, sometimes for a month or less at a time.
